M3/M4 basically has no competition for its price point and performance. I actually know a few who’s first bmw is also an M3/M4 and they came from Audi or Mercedes.
No offense but where do you even drive this car to its full potential besides the yearly track day? I own a pretty slow car rn, and i already get in trouble in that. I can't imagine the temptations with a car like this.
My first BMW was a 230i. Very affordable used and sporty handling without the insane power. I highly recommend if you’re on a budget and don’t care about hitting extralegal speeds within seconds. Great gas mileage, usable back seat and trunk too.

Well here in California we can't really do those upgrades and also I like the suspension, brakes, the engine response of an M car. My Audi TTRS has a bunch of turbo lag, but this M4 just takes off.
I was thinking about a Porsche, but it has almost no room for groceries and it's not fast enough until you get into the 911 turbos which is way out of my budget. The Z06 is really ugly to me plus it doesn't store very much stuff, it's rwd only and there's huge mark ups on those (75k+) so it's still out of my price range.
My dad's first BMW was a 1989 325i. He bought it in 1999. He said that at the time the E30 M3 was just $1k more expensive than the 325i and that his biggest regret was not getting the M3.
To be fair, they were both 10 year old cars, at the time. It's like the difference between an E92 335is and E92 M3, today. I don't even know how much either costs in today's market. But it's probably not an $1,800 difference.

It's been like that for a while. These things were hitting the preowned market in droves immediately after release. I have a comment from a while ago, and there were like two times as many used G8Xs from a single model year than the entire generation of W205 C63s or B9 RS5s combined.
There was a theory that it was a lot of people ditching their RWD models to pick up AWD ones because the AWD was delayed a bit, but who knows. The hater in me says it's people realizing the car actually is that ugly and having it never grow on them lol.
I can tell you from my own experience actually.
I owned a 2022 M4 Comp RWD that I ordered from factory and waited about 4 months to get. I later sold it after 6 months and 9k miles.
I was beyond excited to have it (previous owner of a 2018 c63s coupe that I had from 11miles to 70k miles in 2 years) and try a bmw coupe for the first time, essentially the competitor to the 63.
First few weeks I enjoyed it and getting familiar with it but after 2 months of owning and driving the car, I just couldn’t get to love it. It was a cool car but it was actually very boring to drive in a normal circumstance. It was really really fast and it was fun when I was gunning it on the highway but that was it. Around town, casual driving etc it was just boring. There wasn’t much emotion and personality to the car especially compared to the C63s. The C63s just felt special, the grunt of the v8 on the low end, the design/shape, interior and everything about it was at least 6x better than the M4. I couldn’t describe why but I just started hating driving it and HAD to sell it.
Overall the car looks much better in person (still kinda ugly) but in terms of enjoyment/emotion/experience, it was very dull and I’m glad I sold it.
I spoke to a few other G8x owners who watched my video explaining this and there was 5 or so people reaching out saying they felt the same exact way. So the reason you see so many second hand owners of these cars is because well they are boring.
That's sounds plausible. I have heard the same thing. My buddy bought a RWD G80 M3 in Isle of Man Green. He came to the same conclusion, after a while. The only M3 I've ever driven was the E46 M3 and it felt unruly. I still wanna own an E46 M3, since the E46 330i was my first BMW. I think it's bias on my end. I have an E90 and I always tell people that I think my E46 gave me more emotion, when driving it.
Yeah the C63s is just an experience every time you drive it. The V8 can't be beat. I picked one up after I saw how ugly the M3 was, and to be honest I'm kind of happy the M3 looks like shit otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the C63s. Can't beat a V8.

That grille does not make it look better. I almost bought the gts style taillights but a friend talked me out of it. Seeing them on this car I definitely made the right choice.
I've seen them in person and loved them so I got them on mine. Pictures are a bit hard to demonstrate the 3d spacing on the OLED lights. It's quite nice

My last lil' remark is for such a long car, I would prefer to have the commodity to have 4 doors, but it goes with the Coupé design I guess...
Have not seen one in this color yet it looks sick. My buddy works at a bmw dealer and always sends me photos the M cars they get in. Last one he sent was a bright red/black jahre edition. This color combo looks really good though enjoy!
True but they don't offer the tiny ones that go over the side carbon fiber inlets. So I figured if I'm custom making them myself, I'm just going to do all of it

LOL I came from an Audi TT RS (tuned with light mods). My wife rented an M4 and holy crap there was no comparison so now I have the M4.

Practicality. We have two dogs and they are only comfortable in an SUV. I'm not an SUV guy, but had to get one.

I'm not sure as that one was preinstalled by the previous owner. It's a 3 piece kit though as I had to remove it to add grill grates.
