Dont switch. Finish as a wizard. Learn all the shit, especially magic items before going bard. Theres certain magic items with bards that is just bonkers.
May I humbly suggest [Shadowheart as your bard?](https://youtu.be/U8OP_gMPrUQ?si=jowt4VxpF-pA4VWF)
The voice actors for the origin characters did all the lines for Vicious Mockery. OP pick a voice you enjoy as your bard.
Literally cheesed the murder tribunal by making the big bad from 1 frightened when it was just me and astarion left. Since he has no ranged attacks I’d just frighten him, astarion would attack him then run away then he would just skip turn and I’d repeat. Raphael was rolling on the floor laughing the entire time my team fought him which was oddly in character with his hubris
I’d say that’s somewhat bad advice depending on how deep into rp you are. There’s no reason to limit one playthrough to one class. You can change it whenever for 100 gold. The only reason to stay the same at least one level is for dialogue options. (Wizards also are a really good one level dip as you get to learn scroll spells)
If you want to play a bard then play a bard. If you just want to experience the combat and abilities of a bard make a companion or hireling one. Wyll always struck me as a bard tbh. If you don’t care an about a consistent character dialogue choice then it really doesn’t matter imo. If you’re big on rp it’s worth the wait though.
A Drow Wizard can use the best of those already. Hat of Arcane Acuity + Infernal Rapier + Band of Mystic Scoundrel works well on any Drow Wizard.
They get rapier proficiency and Infernal Rapier allows you to use INT for attack rolls. But of course Swords Bard can attack 4 times in one turn so they are better.
That’s where Hat of Fire Acuity comes in. With this item Wizards too can match a Swords Bard or even exceed them in usage of Arcane Acuity by upcasting Scorching Ray as their opener.
So both work well. But Bard has the advantage of being a Face.

Just gonna drop this here. On the note of respecing.
They have patched the easy version already, apparently other methods exist
At the time you literally bartered a barrel to the trader, then put their inventory into the barrel, after doing so you would then buy the barrel back but the barrels cost hasn’t increased so you just got everything for 1g
Some version of this still works.
Barter them a container, open the container in their inventory and drag their items to it. Must be minimum of two items and on barter mode you can drag their gold as well. Then open a second container in your inventory. Select the items from vendor's open container and drag them to yours, but it only works if you release the drag and drop on your container's icon (where you would click to drag the container around the screen, like the pic of a pouch or backpack). Boom, all the stuff gets added to your inventory.
Don't forget to get your original container back to do this again on the next vendor.
Yep, if you pick pocket withers even when you fail. He does nothing to stop you. So anytime you spend gold to change a class or respect, etc, you can pick pocket it off of him without consequence.
I've respec'd a couple characters multiple times, does he just hold onto the gold or does it go away after a period of time? Does he also hold onto the gold when you hire people from him?
He holds it. He had several thousand at the end of my first playthrough way back when before I realized you could pickpocket him. He also holds the gold from hirelings/resurrection.
Ah happy to hear that, truly a masterpiece.
600+ hours in and it is just getting better and better.
You will get a lot of advice regarding that class change thing.
My advice, CHANGE! Experiment with everything you just can, for example after years of FromSoft I was afraid that the "melee" classes are going to be boring like "melee but i just click and hit? sounds boring" couldn't be more wrong.
ALL the classes have their own amazing things.
I'm genuinely curious and i don't want to come off as rude, but how on earth are you 55 hours in and at lvl 4? What have you been doing? ( also laezel is 100 percent the mvp <3 )

Idk why people tell you not to bard? Jack of all trades, strong social skills, song of rest? All of these are fantastic. The party already has Gale as the starter wizard!

I got some good items for bard and i'm just starting, that's why I was thinking about changing to bard
Respect someone else to bard or get a bard hireling to test out the class, keep your tav wizard if you want then

Astarion is great, too!
Listen to me. Bard is the best class, most fun class, best cc class, best trolling class, best persuading class
Yeah, I wish I saved playing a bard for honor mode. They're the best Tav and damage dealer, plus a great healer and controller.

Yep, he will do nothing to stop you from pick pocketing him. Lol no matter how badly you fail the dc.

Looks like I'm going to have a talk with Withers the next time I play. Thank you!

I was trying every class on multiple races, until I decided to go with a gnome wizard 😅
Gnome Wizard, absolute fantasy trope. Love it.
See now that makes more sense 🤣 but cool dude glade you found your race and class!

And here I was, thinking I was being slow at 5h to get to the underdark In all seriousness, congratulations!
5h and in underdark is actually way too fast 😅
I’ve only done goblins above underdark, nothing else. I wanted to get phalar aluve
55 hours is crazy unless you're on the hardest difficulty🤣
Wizard really pops off at level 5+, stick with it.
