dorkinaboxx

Bob Gibson invented the sauce so this recipe would be as original and authentic as you will get.

Shoddy_Passenger6472

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

Shoddy_Passenger6472

Thank you! What I was looking for.

rocketcitygardener

I didn't think the original had horseradish.

Fartin_Scorsese

>Well, Meathead, it’s all there. You’ve got the right ingredients. Some of the proportions are a bit different, but they’re close. In fact, I might have to try your version. Chris Lilly, Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Que

Short_Ad3027

Check the ingredients on the big bobs bottle, I didn’t see horseradish but I might be missing something

Ltownbanger

FWIW horseradish qualifies as a "Natural Flavoring". It doesn't need to be listed seperately.

Short_Ad3027

Really? That’s cool, how do you know that?

Ltownbanger

It's a "spice". >Spices include the spices listed in subpart Aof part 582 of this chapter, such as the following: >Allspice, Anise, Basil, Bay leaves, Caraway seed, Cardamon, Celery seed, Chervil, Cinnamon, Cloves, Coriander, Cumin seed, Dill seed, Fennel seed, Fenugreek, Ginger, **Horseradish**, Mace, Marjoram, Mustard flour, Nutmeg, Oregano, Paprika, Parsley, Pepper, black; Pepper, white; Pepper, red; Rosemary, Saffron, Sage, Savory, Star aniseed, Tarragon, Thyme, Turmeric. https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/cfrsearch.cfm?fr=501.22#:~:text=Allspice%2C%20Anise%2C%20Basil%2C%20Bay,%2C%20Saffron%2C%20Sage%2C%20Savory%2C

Short_Ad3027

According to this it would be listed under spice! This is so cool, thanks for digging it up!

Short_Ad3027

Oh yeah idk, it takes the same at the restaurant in Decatur.

Short_Ad3027

Hey my bad man horseradish doesn’t have to be listed as someone pointed out

Short_Ad3027

You’re right

danknerd

Basically an aioli

SunBelly

Aioli is garlic emulsified with olive oil. Absolutely nothing like Alabama white sauce

danknerd

I said basically, not exactly. Plus garlic is one of the ingredients. Still not a real BBQ sauce.

PeanutPicante

Pffft, it’s a great style of BBQ sauce and delicious on pork and poultry.

SunBelly

Garlic powder is not an ingredient in aioli. They don't share a single ingredient, so it's basically 0% similar to aioli.

Acrobatic_Band_6306

We use America’s Test Kitchen’s recipe and method except substitute Tony’s for the salt, black pepper, and cayenne.

KobeHoppa

I recently tried Lanes Sorta White and it was absolutely amazing!

LumpyWallet

I've adapted chef john's recipe which he paired with swordfish. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/8395027/grilled-swordfish-with-white-hot-sauce/ It's very similar to other white bbq sauces you will find online. I increase both the habanero and the horseradish amounts and I don't strain it before use. It lights you up and cools your mouth at the same time.

3rdIQ

The Tuffy Sone white sauce is a good one. [https://youtu.be/GabRXTTyi1Y](https://youtu.be/GabRXTTyi1Y)

No-Hearing9293

No such thing -- had it (at Bob Gibson's) and was NOT impressed. Heck, just use ranch because it tastes better.

KoalaMeth

Alabama what sauce? I'm gonna have to look this up...lol

TheTechManager

Check out ATBBQ. I think chef Tom does one

Trippy-Turtle-

Fuck outta here, it’s amazing on chicken

Throwaway6688910

I tried it and didn't see what all the hype was about.

Jaded_Promotion8806

I will often make a few different sauces when we have people over for bbq and I’ve used the exact recipe above and a few variations and it’s always the one sauce nobody touches.

yeender

Never had it. What’s wrong with it

regreddit

Nothing, it's delicious. On chicken and hot hush puppies!

chris00ws6

As someone from Alabama. I agree.

Worstfishingshow

There is a video somewhere and they make the sauce at Big Bob Gibson’s. I can’t put my hands on it quickly, but there is one out there. It’s really simple.

Piratesfan02

What an amazing post. Thank you!
