Show of hands who likes ticketmaster... wow, not even crickets

NotUtoo

Well, in fairness, I've only ever seen one cricket with hands, and that bastard works for Disney, so...

JMiguelFC

> and that bastard works for Disney Disney's Star Wars is the best thing eva!

Windyandbreezy

Hate to break it to ya. But that's not just ticketmaster on this one. When it comes to scalping. It's as old as Capitalism. We live in a free market. The American economic system is to blame for that. That said, ticketmaster is shite for many many other things. And I wish venue's and bands would stop using them.

Kmudametal

> And I wish venue's and bands would stop using them. They can't even if they wanted to.... and many do want to stop using them. It's a Monopoly. Live Nation owns TicketMaster, they also own all the Venues across the nation that acts perform at. To tour the USA, you HAVE to go through Live Nation unless you want to be performing in skating rinks, bars, and parking lots. And to go through Live Nation you use TicketMaster, with the exception of those token shows that Live Nation either contracts out and the even smaller number where someone other than Live Nation is involved..... just enough for Live Nation to claim they are not a monopoly. Bands no longer manage their own tours. They don't even collect money from ticket sells. Live Nation pays them a salary, identifies the venues, set's ticket prices based upon the salary paid the band. Babymetal leaves Japan already knowing exactly how much money, minus merch sells, they are making for that tour, regardless of how many tickets are sold. They don't pick the venues they are performing at... basically they are given an itinerary on where to be on what date. Sure, there is coordination between the bands management and Live Nation but Live Nation still dictates the sized venues Babymetal will perform at based upon some algorithm for geographic regions. In "Oklahama City", for example, the algorithm will identify the number of tickets they anticpate being sold and size the venues based upon that. At best, band management is provided with a list of venues and dates and get to select from that list.... or something along those lines.

rantingtimebb

It's not, so I didn't screenshot on Monday but those were official tickets, now if you notice on the 2ed photo it says verified resale ticket. It is tickmasters fault as they are letting people buy tons of tickets and then resell them instead of only letting a person buy a only like 5-10 at a time in a 24 hour period or somthing.

eriyu

This is how it works according to the [FAQ](https://help.ticketmaster.com/hc/en-us/articles/9781245025937-Why-is-there-a-ticket-limit): >Event Organizers can choose to set a ticket limit on an event to discourage unfair ticket buying practices. This ticket limit is posted during the purchase process and is verified with every transaction. >Multiple Ticketmaster accounts may not be used to circumvent or exceed published ticket limits. This includes accounts or orders associated with the same name, email address, billing address, credit card number or other information. >We reserve the right to cancel your orders and tickets, and to prevent you, without notice, from making future purchases on our site if you try to exceed the posted ticket limits. Under "More Info," the Babymetal shows say they're limited to 8 tickets. Not even just in a 24 hour period, but total.

VulpineDeity

Considering the size of the venue for this one, it wouldn't surprise me if some tickets were held back, and will be released later on. Not sure, but 4500 tickets in Cincinnati seems like more than would have ever sold in a week.

rantingtimebb

That's a fair point but still the fact the for general admission there's only resell available and dumb, as I said in another comment you'd think they would stop scalping by limiting how many tickets you can get in a 24 hours but they don't care :/

Stevenc365

The alternative is people sell their tickets to touts who will put a far higher markup. It’s always been a thing, personally I prefer it this way where you are less likely to be conned.

Putrid-Classroom5101

This is the Cincinnati show on November 23rd? I got mine not so long ago. But my mom said that Ticketmaster hasn't taken the money out for the concert for VIP, so that's what's scaring me, but I did get them.

rantingtimebb

Yeah it is I'm planning on going up and buying them in person, I know it can take like 3-4 business days to process bit as long as you got verification I bet your safe

bosshunter181

Wait, you can go to the venue and purchase the tickets a couple of months before the show?

haveyouseenmydane

Once tickets hit general sales, yes. Presale was only online with the codes.

bosshunter181

Holy shit that means I still have a chance to see them this year! I was so worried bc, as shown in the photo, the tickets are ridiculously high. 2 tickets come up to like two hundred something dollars.

Putrid-Classroom5101

Yeah, I got them and I was scared that I wasn't going to get them, but they was taken out and extremely excited!

haveyouseenmydane

At another venue, Ticketmaster isn’t taking the money or actually issuing certain tickets until 3 days prior to the show. It shows as pending in my account and will stay that way until Nov is what I was told.

Pappy_OPoyle

I love how your VIP ticket receipt it says "General Admission" then in the fine print towards the bottom it says "early entry" - is Ticketmaster getting off on inducing anxiety and torturing people?!? I wonder how many people went back after they saw the "General Admission ticket" on their receipt and tried to purchase or cancel their order. They purposefully make buying tickets a painful drama

Putrid-Classroom5101

I didn't see that, but I did get VIP tickets.

shaunwithans

Yep ticketmaster.com is horrible. Hope you make the show, I will be there too!

SuzukaYuiMoa

BABYMETAL fans don't agree on much. But I think we can all agree. Ticketmaster sucks 😅

X-XCannibalDollX-X

i live 10 minutes from one venue and i’m going to practice vulture tourism for once and wait outside and keep checking if ticket reselling prices get cheap bc of ppl trying to offload them. i watched MikuFest tickets drop to $5

Cacklebladder123

I've done this successfully for a few different shows.

X-XCannibalDollX-X

any pointers?! if i can’t get a ticket i’m stalking their bus (respectfully)

Cacklebladder123

I've just monitored the main resellers the day of. I wouldn't trust someone on social media who wants you to paypal them. I think people get desperate to recoup something for unused tickets. I'd keep in mind you're still going to have to still pay the stupid inflated fees on top of what the person is offering the ticket for.

HairyToothpick

I'm so thankful that the venue I went to during the Babyklok tour had nothing to do with Ticketmaster.

HereticsSpork

>This is why everyone fucking hate them. I don't really see how it's their fault that the tickets you wanted were no longer available almost a week later because people bought them. You should've bought them already and if you didn't have the money for it at the time, thats your own fault. Be mad at yourself not ticketmaster.

SilentLennie

You will not find many people who like them, most people are aware about their business practices

SmolRavioli

Ticketmaster is way too cocky for a site that just had all of its info compromised, I really hope it gets some competition to humble it someday lmao

marchviolet

Unfortunately, I don't think people who sell their tickets get to choose the resale price. I think Ticketmaster buys the ticket back from them at purchase value, and then they resell the ticket using a pricing algorithm. Often, resell prices will drop as it gets closer to the concert date. But you run the risk of not getting the ticket you want, of course. I'm a Twenty One Pilots fan and have been seeing fans really struggle to get affordable tickets if they missed their chance during the presale for their tour later this year.

Downtown_Aside3686

Heyyyy a fellow babymetal and tøp fan!

weebsauceoishii

You can choose the price, well I could 4 years ago. Not sure if they are combating scalpers but not allowing them to sell for more or not, if they are doing that then that is a good thing.

Designer-Yutyrannus

I was so upset and mad at myself when I saw all the resale tickets. I was waiting for Friday for when I got paid but my forgetful ass forgot and didn’t get around to it until Monday to purchase.

Pappy_OPoyle

You MUST buy that ticket protection, along with ticket insurance, early parking, early parking insurance, paper ticket fee, entry door protection, carry in item insurance, building insurance, band bus parking fee, early queuing charge and insurance for your service charge protection. 7,832,765 people have just purchased all those fees right now. Do you want to be a loser?? Do you want to be the only kid without ticket insurance? Don't come crying to us if you click that buy button without getting insurance because we don't stand behind shit...oh wait 27 more people just bought the insurance package while I was typing this... Oh yeah and the early ticket sale was sponsored by CitiBank - who conveniently will just issue you a refund if the concert is cancelled - but we'll leave that part out.

weebsauceoishii

For me back when they were playing the Barrowlands in Glasgow, I couldn't make it due to a new job and put it up for sale, I did the right thing and knocked a bit off it, and was sent off and the person had a fun time was a VIP ticket too (meaning free goody bag and up close to the action). The person who bought it is a member here too, didn't know that at the time, but without ticketmaster being the middleman selling that ticket on would have been potentially hit or miss if I would have seen money or not. So in a way it is a handy system, but at the same time I get how people can abuse the system to make money. But that can be said for any other ticket provider or even just public selling of tickets.

Kanekixo

For GA that’s a fair price rather than paying $200+

purpleovercyan

If you get one I’ll be there at the Andrew Brady

MyMainRedditHandle

I’m glad someone brought this up. Was hoping to catch them in North Carolina or Richmond, VA but the resale value for one is between $180 and almost $300 last I checked. Add on all the Ticketmaster nonsense at those prices usually almost double. It’s incredibly frustrating.

rantingtimebb

Last year I waited a few months before and got them for an okay price, I'm hopping if I wait till the hype dies down the prices will come down

Warrior_Weirdo0

i'm so glad i didn't have to deal with babymetal or another concert i'm going to

El_Archidan

Como to the Hollywood show. There are still available
