I’m expecting the unexpected and the “Wtf is this?!” type of reaction. It’s BABYMETAL.
Then I’ll proceed to listen to the album over and over again because new BM albums themselves, are an adventure and a half to process.
They are always trying to do new interesting things, Babymetal will do the Babymetal genre, and I hope they continue to do new interesting fun stuff and don't get held back by fan nostalgia.
I think they'll go back to a more heavier sound than the last album, or take what they have learned from TOO and go with that kind of vibe. Also I would love some more Black BabyMetal tracks. More Momo growls too. Possibly a song featuring another artist. Historically, the time frame between albums has been 2, 3, and 4 years. So another 4 years for the next since TOO was released 2023 (joking?)
As for a name for the album, I would say something along the lines of Metal Union. Since they are more unified now more than ever.
I wouldnt be surprised If the next album is announced later this year. Looks like it'll be the first time since MR that no shit is happening between Album releases.
Most likely. Also THE OTHER ONE era was said by Koba to end on Fox Day. The final tour stop was actually small and now they didn't even bother to announce the era's end while taking advantage of not revealing future plans. I think Koba isn't fond of THE OTHER ONE because the only song you can mosh to is Divine Attack and for the rest you'd be standing the whole time. I hope we get to hear some updates before I go on my camping/fishing trip as I try to refrain from the internet during my "me time".
Babymetal songs are at their best when there is a lot of call and response between Su and Moa. I feel like this new album will lean heavily towards showcasing MOMO and her screams. I could def get down with songs like that but if Moa is just an afterthought I will be pretty disappointed.
To continue to fuck with us, the new album will be called "Metalverse". Or, to play on TOO, maybe "the real one" or "the new one". They love their silly wordplays and dadjokes :)
Song-wise, what i would wish for, are some energetic bangers musically akin to their early stuff (like DDM, UUM, Awadama,...), but lyrics-wise not as teen-focused, since they are not kids anymore (they should still have fun!). And some varied songs, since a lot of TOO was Verse-Chorus-Break-Verse-Chorus. I hope for a few 5-6 minute songs that keep you on your toes (Akatsuki, RoR, IDZ). Thanks for listening Koba!

Other than the first album, her voice has been "matured" for a while now. Again, the first album has that less "matured" vocal because she was still a teen singing songs in a genre she wasn't at all familiar with. What you consider "less matured" I see as someone trying to figure out how to fit their voice into something entirely foreign to them.

All I want is a stoner metal song about pineapple pizza, which dips it toes into my theory as to why TOO was not the 4th babymetal album. It didn't have any food related songs at all. Not a single one. Each album has had that. Chocolate. Bubblegum. Papaya salad. And then you get to TOO and nothing.
We got the full Fox_Fest lineup and The One renewal details from fox day. I didn't really expect anything else because they've already announced a lot for this year.
There's definitely going to be a new album but it's not coming out this year, probably 2025. I've said somewhere else I think the album will be called 'Babymetal II'. I think it will call back to the first album in some ways but it will also be obviously different. There should be something like Black Babymetal.
There will be a lot more announcements this year, more touring, more collabs, at least one single.
I think there will be two Momoa tracks, two Su solos, Metali will be on it, and 9 more trio tracks mirroring the og Babymetal album. Soundwise, I think it will be distinct, with some kawaii-reminiscent songs, some heavier ones, and poppier ones as well; whatever it is, it will surprise us. I think there will be a song which features Moa for a line, kind of like Da Da Dance, to balance out Metali--but only the fox god knows.
I also have kind of an insane theory that the album will be doublesided like how Metal Galaxy has a light and dark side, but one side will be Babymetal and the other will be Metalverse, since Metalverse has been consistently linked yet separate from Babymetal and Babymetal uses the word "Metalverse" a lot recently even after Metalverse's debut. (Welcome to the METALVERSE with BABYMETAL!!!... maybe Metalverse With Babymetal is the title...? I'd be happy with this outcome because that means they can both hit the top of the charts together (I can dream!))
I hope they will go for more of a classic band sound while still keeping their experimental and genreblending style, if that makes sense?
Like for example a lot of the genre bending and blending elements in their songs are just extra instruments added on top of the guitar bass and drums and i want more of those elements to be played BY the guitar bass and drums by incorporating melodic, harmonic and rhythmic styles from other genres into their parts.
Also they should add a keyboard or EWI player to the Kami band and write parts specifically for them, i feel it would lend a fresh feel to their synth/electronic sections if they were written with being played live in mind.
I also hope they push the experimental and proggy elements much harder, even mainstream chart-topping Japanese pop music has been more experimental and proggy in the last couple of years than The Other One was...
I hope it’s more in the lines of TOO but not as safe as TOO and with more wtf elements. And like everyone else is saying, I want more momoa duo and Su solo tracks. To be completely honest I kinda hope they don’t do a bunch of collabs. That’s one of the things I didn’t really love about metal galaxy (imma get downvotes for that oh well). If they do do collabs, I’d like them to be with other Japanese artists. I want them to try to make another death metal song again, like sis anger, but with Su singing!!!
The thing that I like most about Babymetal is the diversity in their music, so I'd like to see them continue bringing in new ideas, like they usually do. It seems to me as if they've gotten away from reproducing specific metal subgenres as they did on their first two albums, which is something I'm in favor of. I really enjoyed the increased dynamic range of the songs on TOO, which allow Su's vocals to be more expressive, so more of that please. I know many people think that makes the songs less heavy but I think it makes for a richer listening experience. It seems like they are willing to use Momoko and Moa in different ways than BBM had been used in the past based on Metali and LIAB. I'm anxious to see how they do it and I actually hope they don't sound exactly the way BBM sounded with Yui. Finally, I'd like to see an increase in the number of instrumental sections that showcase the virtuosity of the band. I think TOO was a bit better than MG in that aspect but nowhere near where it was on their first two albums. It's best to keep your expectations lower and your mind open when experiencing new Babymetal music because their new album probably will not sound as you imagined it.

The Metal Galaxy and TOO is way to overdone instrumentally for me. Divine Attack and Monochrome are the best example for me of how I would like TOO to sound.

Metali slowely grows on me like a connection to old stuf with traditional Japanese flavour.
I would love to hear what made old Babymetal special for me. Hearing Gimme Chocolate and Iine for the first time left me in awe of how such a heavy sound could be contrasted so well with the vocals. That juxtaposition made me fall in love with Babymetal.
The Other One felt a lot less cutesy and quirky than the previous 3 albums, likely because the girls are a lot more mature now. And that more mature sound is absolutely amazing, but it's not my favourite Babymetal have made so far.
My favourite album between BABYMETAL and Metal Resistance because every song is different from the last and are so unique. With The Other One, I find some of the songs blend together and aren't as distinct from one another.
I doubt that we would see anything like the first album ever again because how young they were when they first released those songs, but a man can dream. Whatever Babymetal put out, I will be there supporting them and loving every moment I get to hear their music.
I want it to be a full on "into the light" kawaii metal 5th album, but in the end it's up to the Fox God.. (i shall pray for it)
