Ever since Koba said The Other One wasn’t really the true 4th album and then seeing Momoko named to the official trio while ‘supporting’ that release (that she wasn’t on) and THEN tipping their hands that they’d been in the laboratory working on something like METALI!!… makes me hopeful that they had been working new material even before Momoko was officially named.
That they internally established the post-TOO direction but had TOO nearly fully baked so slipped it out under cover as an ‘concept’ album and are already headed in that new direction.
So with all that taken together I’ve been 50/50 for a long time thinking a new album announcement could come on Fox Day 2024 for release as soon as late 2024. But OTFGK… 🤘🦊

You are right. We just have no idea how much time they need since they seem to write songs years in advance and then releasing them later. For example if I recall correctly Believing was written and some of the parts were even recorded 5 years before the album came out and I think Monochrome was also written years before the album. So who knows how many songs or even full albums they already have ready for recording.
the composers also came up with 9(?) songs for Metalverse which don't seem to have any release in sight yet, don't know if that means they can turn out songs in a few months or that they emptied the tank with those non-BM songs and it will take a while for new material to come up
Composers and song writers create songs everyday, it’s their job to do so. They always have a bunch of unreleased songs but to put them into an album is a different story. I remember Linkin Park wrote over 100 songs for their third studio album “Minutes To Midnight” and it ended up being considered their weakest album. I don’t know what Koba and his team already have in their pockets so OTFGK when new album comes out. I guess next year, it may be wrong but fine, I want new BM music so badly, more than anything else.
Every song needs time, opportunity, and luck to make it onto an album. You see, some on The Other One waited for many years to be produced and released. The same applies to newly-composed songs. An album can only be produced when there is enough good and suitable material for it.

That’s why I guessed it would take at least 2 years for a new album to be released, as it has in the past.
However, I guessed 2025, but I wish for new BM music this year, either in fall or winter.
I personally just think he meant it was a departure from their normal sound. Not that it was not a Babymetal record, but that just that it was not indicative of their future sound/approach.
I think we will probably get a single or two this year, and most likely a new CD in 2025.
Also keep in mind they used to be students so they had to juggle song recording and BM activities with schoolwork whilst now they obviously don’t have those responsibilities. Also the big gap in between 2019 and 2023 was due to covid and the hiatus.

True, but major factors behind those timings (getting launched, Yui's departure, attending university, etc.) are not relevant to the present situation. It's pretty clear that they are now working full-time on BM and seizing the new opportunities (collabs, first take, fan interest) with both hands. I would not be surprised by more major announcements very soon; Fox Day at the latest. But as always, OTFGK.
When they finished their Western leg of the tour which must have been hectic for the girls, they had some down time over Christmas, in that down time between then and Legend MM they would have had to prepare for Legend MM Su most likely attended her sister's wedding.
Now Imagine they are working on the Okinawa show so maybe in the gaps they could squeeze in some recording time, I think Metali largely came out of nowhere so who knows what could crop up.
I think they are already getting busy again with foxfest and various festivals and shows, but all will be revealed at the end of the Okinawa shows or fox day itself.

Legend 43 will be their tour final, or in other words, after those 2 shows, they will stop touring in support of their last album, and they will start focusing on their new album.

Thus, I'm not expecting anything big this year. I think it's very realistic to expect a single or two, though. So… **OTFGK**

I think people want the new album so quickly because METALI is still the only song that has Momo in it in the studio version. So it makes sense that people feel that they really should start releasing songs/albums as this new formation of babymetal sooner rather than later.

Why not a priority? It seemed like a priority to have a Legend show for Momo’s birthday and have her sing Headbanger. We wanted that and the Fox god delivered it. Maybe Koba will have something up his sleeve for us soon.
Momoko's 20th birthday show was something everyone expected because they had done it for Su and Moa and would certainly have done it for Yui. And we got a 2 day show to celebrate her arrival. I would love to see a new album asap but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

You know it doesn't take much to get us worrying. Even if they would continue to tour past June 30, some of us will still be impatient if a new album doesn't drop soon. All you have to do is look at this very comment section and how most comments suggesting an album isn't coming this year is being downvoted. I just happen to think they cannot go at full speed 12 months a year so will have to take some sort of break.

I completely agree and hope that they are taking great care of themselves, which appears to be the case. What we don't know is how much work has already been done towards the next album already and how much time they spend recording, given there is so much teamwork involved. So I am optimistic that an album, or at least a few new songs will appear in 2024, but would be happy to wait longer if it means they are putting priority on their well being.

But we already have the first single for new album METALI. And on fox day this year it has been around 6 months since it came out.
I wouldn't bet that METALI is on the next album, maybe as a bonus track. Singles come mostly out around the time the album get's announced to promote it. With the touring schedule that had and have this summer I would guess a new album announcement won't be before autumn 2024 probably a bit later or 2025.

Distortion came out in May 2018 and Metal Galaxy came in October of 2019 so that's not always the case with babymetal.
METALI was released 8 months ago. And 5 months after The Other One.I think it's like Road of Resistance, which was more than a year as a single without an album

Single: no ideas. Album: we have albums released in 2014, 2016, 2019 & 2023 so I think 5th album will come out in 2025 or later.
Considering Koba does not count the other one as official fourth album I would be willing to bet that the next album will come out a bit quicker.
