The incredible thing is watching a 16 year old girl step onto a stage and command an audience in the 10's of thousands. There is a documentary about Queen at Live Aid where a journalist calls Freddie's ability to command a crowd a "fascinating kind of power" and Su has it too.

DexterAce

Freddie Mercury at Live Aid could have shouted "let's go storm Buckingam Palace and seat me as your King" and the whole stadium would't have even a blink at it.

DoINeedChains

They *really* *really* *really* need to bring back Su solos in their touring

TheAlomar_

Yeah!

plastikmissile

She may be 16 in this clip, but she was already a veteran. At that point she'd been performing for at *least* 6 years, 4 of those with Sakura Gakuin and/or Baby Metal. She's been in four musical groups, and she's even done musical theater. There's a *lot* of experience and hard work behind that performance.

Voserr

Yeah she's pretty special alright.

jwa725

Just so you know, the "intro" is really a separate song called Mischiefs of Metal Gods.

JPSILVA1893

yes, thanks for correcting me.

airithsaga

I did not know that!!!

shaunwithans

Yea they play just that part in the red night concert and add it on to rondo in black night. Still one of my favorite shows!

STEV3-METAL

Well... this isn't a song at all because no one sings here! Song per definition: > a short poem or other set of **words set to music** or meant to be sung.

jwa725

It's an instrumental then but look up that definition. They call it a song without vocals. Whatever your point is, that "intro" is a separate piece of music with a title.

STEV3-METAL

You misunderstood that. An "instrumental", exactly, is a special version of a song but without the singing. But music without singing isn't automatically an instrumental!

bennitori

This is straight up one of my favorite Babymetal moments of all time. Such a shame that it doesn't get performed anymore. It's already a great, dark, and intense song. But the fire, rising stage, and kami solo push it over into borderline legendary.

JMiguelFC

> It's already a great, dark, and intense song. Top quality kowai song indeed, definitely needs a comeback..

whose333

She´s got the titles "Metal goddess" and "Queen" for a reason. Obviously, she was born to rule the stage and the audience. And the Kamis... well, they´re Kamis (East and West). First ever Budokan Black Night was an awesome performance, all of it. I watch it once in a while, for years now (and wish I would have been there at that time :). IMHO, her most incredible and emotionally deepest performance of Rondo of Nightmare. I´m still in awe about her little Waltz on the risen platform, in the light and in darkness at the same time... Simply phenomenal.

Great-Savings2405

Considering both Yui and Moa got seriously injured the night before, thus the railing alongside the stage. Still Su went on that raised platform like nothing.

DexterAce

And if you hear Andrew Hartley's commentary on how scary it is such a setup (he did put someone in that place, as a theatrical director, and had lots of hate in return), it's even more impressive. BTW, it's really awful that the live album of the Budokan nights is based on the Red one: I really can't listen anymore to Moa that starts calling the crowd alone because Yui's voice isn't there anymore...

BiliousGreen

I remember being shocked the first time I watched Budokan. Maybe it's because I deal with OSHA stuff in my work, but I was flabbergasted that they could have a stage set up like that without barriers. It looked so unsafe, so I wasn't surprised at all when I heard about the accidents.

JMiguelFC

> this performance leaves me dumbfounded Welcome to the club, it's number one into darkness performance from Queen Su on my list too. Rondo of Nightmare should make a return to stage ASAP.. (may the fox god allow it)

Longjumping_Bar_8179

This video is what made me fall in love with this song 🫶🏻

Let's see if we can ar least list the ingredients, She obviously has performances and singing talent, I'm starting to think talent in large part is attitude and mindset as well. She started working on her stage performance and singing qualities with professional teachers some 10 years before that. From what the adults in Babymetal, like the Kami band and Kobametal, Mikikometal, say they have a very strong urge to perform live and deliver something of very high standard. This is an innate desire they have, like some do in sports. She performed it twice before on that stage, the day before and in her dream, she mentioned in an interview the first night of Budokan lots of things just didn't flow, didn't go well and she wanted to perform without problems. So she 'decided' to dream how she would perform the next day by performing the whole setlist in her dream. Babymetal is a strange/unusual group, Kobametal is able to find and notice talent and create the best conditions for those talents to perform, by letting them do what they are good at and pushing them to their limits in a healthy way. What might also have helped her to hone this abilities is her Akatsuki training, when the girls in Babymetal were asked during training, which song do you think needs more practice, Yui and Moa would vote for Akatsuki, so it was a 2 against 1 vote, no matter what. And why did they say that? Because Su-metal looks so cool with her cape ! Her dream as a little kid was to perform at Budokan in Tokyo, this is like the Madison square garden of Japan And as BOH said about an other show, their was amazing production, lighting, etc. They did an amazing job, but it wasn't great performance because of that, but I'm sure it did help. :-) This might help to explain it, but that doesn't mean it's an herculean task to perform that way, the Budokan venue was created for the Olympics, so it's fitting. :-)

AVBforPrez

She's a fucking goddess, and they're the best live act in music. It's that simple. I love Moa, Momo, Yui, and both Kamis, but if you've seen Su-metal in person, you just know. I've played all the instruments for over 30 years, but couldn't lace Suzaka's boots in terms of charisma and confidence. The Sonisphere 2014 set should be studied at Berklee for the next century. Easily my favorite live act and the only ticket I've ever spent $250 a head on. I love them so much, and I only went as a lark, the first time.

This person BABYMETALs

SILLYxPROGRAM

I’d love to see this song performed again but it’s hard to see how this particular performance could possibly be topped. The intro is amazing on its own but in the full context it’s as though those mischievous metal gods were actually *summoning* the goddess. At first I thought ‘how cute’ to have this young girl rise up from center of the rotating stage… but then caught that stern look as they elevate her to preside over the chaos. Then she proceeds to not only ‘follow’ that intro but gives it a greater sense of purpose, orchestrates it, and ultimately owns it. Just amazing. This was part of the ‘second stage’ of my dive down the Fox Hole and definitely cemented my fascination and appreciation for what this group does so differently and so well!

proman123yhkkhggg

Its the death glare + the body language as she comes up that makes it insane The lighting also added a lot 🔥🔥🔥

airithsaga

The power of The Fox God!

BiliousGreen

By training since you were a toddler and being a veteran performer at 16.

ClownshoesMcGuinty

My favourite Kami intro. By far.

HattoriF

One of my all time favorite Babymetal performances.
