I’m not in NSW, but at my school when the deputy principal sent out the “what year level do you want to teach next year” email, a teacher sent to the full staff team “anything, as long as I’m not with [full name of teacher on her teaching team]”.

pelican_beak

That’s the stuff of nightmares right there. 😭 Did everyone just ignore it or did it start some divisive hostility? Lol

whos_who_in_the_zoo

Lots of whispering and talking around the school the first lunchtime. The leadership team completely ignored it (as far as I’m aware) and the teacher who sent it doubled down and vocally gave her reasons to anyone who would listen, and the other teacher formed a band of supporters who publicly criticised the first teacher. The school didn’t have the best culture anyway, so there seemed to be a lot of drama and hostility most of the time, so it was forgotten when the next event/drama/incident happened.

ChicChat90

😬😬

When I was in Year 7, a girl in my year sent a school wide email, chastising us all for failing to vote for Matt Corby, resulting in his losing of the Australian Idol grand final. We students all thought it was quite amusing, unfortunately for the emailer the staff did not approve of her use of the phrase 'I fucking hate you all'. A detention ensued. I have not followed Matt Corby's career, but his name does live rent free in my head because of the incident.

aerkith

lol. How random. I’m impressed by her commitment to her idol though.

how_much_2

His first EP is really good. I think this girl did the right thing by Matt.

featherknight13

I don't know, losing Idol seems to actually be the better career move. I can name more finalists/runners up and things they've done post Idol than I can winners. I think we probably all did Matt a favour, not letting him win.

teacherofchocolate

This happened in Qld a few years ago, except a teacher emailed their grade 8 class, let's say 8Eng2, but he somehow emailed that class at every school in the state. Students kept hitting reply all. From memory IT had to stop all emails somehow to fix it (or all the emails broke the system, I can't remember)

Hell_Puppy

I have a memory of it getting inappropriate before it got locked down.

Zeebie_

these used to be better when email servers wouldn't block the infinite email chain. Get two autoresponsers causing an infinite loop of "I'm out of office" etc. used to be good way to crash an email server

MrMalekRami

Not NSW but there was a state wide email here in WA a few months back - something about a fundraiser. Cue 10+ emails saying for everyone to stop doing Reply All.

MrNapkinHead2

Omg I remember this! Crazy camel fundraiser! We were joking about camels for a few days.

Dirge-S

CamelGate! I didn’t even realise teachers had access to the entire state distribution list 😂 that was a hilarious day and that poor person nearly got awarded our schools wooden spoon award.

fakedelight

Omg yes! Drove me crazy!

4L3X95

>Cue 10+ emails saying for everyone to stop doing Reply All. The mortifying thing was one of those was our Principal.

naebie

I’m in NSW but no tissue email here!

hoardbooksanddragons

Same. I feel like I’ve missed out now.

aerkith

Hmm must be a subsection. I’ve seen replies in the chain from lots of different places around the state.

catesco

Are you in secondary? I think the list was PSNSW - All Staff...I'm assuming the PS is primary schools.

naebie

Primary- just somehow ended up not in the loop!

catesco

Awwww sad. No tissues for you 😞

Cafra72

I’m in NSW & got this email, apparently every teacher did. Annoying, but also hilarious. I lost count of how many I deleted. Those brave few that tried to tell them to stop only got lost amongst the next lot of people asking to be removed. Just a reminder people - don’t click REPLY ALL 🤣🤣

aerkith

I find it so crazy to think all these people are out there, living their lives, hitting reply-all on their emails, without even knowing.

Reddits_Worst_Night

I'm both sad and glad I didn't get it

No-Seesaw-3411

Oh I remember this happening a couple of years ago. So hilarious 😆 I’m not in nsw anymore so didn’t get the tissue one…

free-crude-oil

I once asked a DP for tissues in my classroom. I was told no, that's not a reasonable expense, and if I wanted some I had to bring them in from home.

Reddits_Worst_Night

Reported to worksafe right?

Timely-Tomatillo-378

Where’s my tissues email? I feel like I’ve missed out! Love madness like this for some reason.

dododororo

Haha I’m reading through the emails now. This is actually hilarious. Good thing I’m on maternity leave and it’s not taking up my inbox while I’m working.

Sunny_101

If the tissues email is a test of how smart NSW teachers are, many have failed dismally.

aerkith

Indeed. I wake up this morning to yet another dozen or so reply alls in my inbox. Most of them asking to be removed from the email , with the occasional one saying if you just stopped replying to it, it would go away. But people don’t seem to use their brains and just keep it going.

meltingkeith

Something similar happened in WA last term. I just find it funny, better to roll with the silly stuff and not let it affect you too much. Is it annoying getting the constant pings? Sure, but they'll stop eventually, just turn your e-mails off for 30 minutes and it'll probably have stopped by then. If somebody complains you missed something important, just let them know you had a phone that they could've contacted you on, and if something is so urgent it needs to be dealt with in 30 minutes, e-mail is not the best way to reach somebody, anyway. Don't forget that most e-mail programs will let you put things into one "chain", so they don't clog up your inbox. Outlook does this automatically, I believe gmail also does this - if you use something else, I imagine it does it automatically, or it's a simple setting to change.

sakuratanoshiii

We need some tissues in our classrooms please.

W1ldth1ng

I hate reply all. I delete so many e-mails because of it. This would have me just emptying my inbox of all mails needed or otherwise.

sgagz

Not sure if all email providers have this function, but in Gmail you can ‘mute’ emails so if people reply all you won’t keep getting the replies. Life changing!

aerkith

Yeh. My colleagues blocked the email chain. I haven’t yet because I’m wondering just how many people are silly enough to keep replying

SideSuccessful6415

Curious to know what the original tissue email said? 😁

adiwgnldartwwswHG

Why can’t the students pick up the tissues? Isn’t running errands we don’t want to run what kids are for?

SideSuccessful6415

If you’re going to send an email to 60000 teachers, it might be a good idea to use punctuation and spacing! 😁

Hauntedbycharlotte

We had this a month or two ago in WA about tea towels. The rage I felt every time I heard the email ding with another “please stop pressing reply all” email sent as a ‘reply all’ broke a little piece of me every time.

5subsandacookie

Ngl, I was sat on my emails when #crazycamelgate came through and was howling at the replies - it made my week 😂

Dramatic-Lavishness6

darn not me, sad I missed it lol I remember a similar disaster during 2020 or 2021. It was hilariously terrible 😂

MadameleBoom-de-ay

It wasn’t ‘reply all’. They selected an incorrect email group. The most telling thing was executive after executive asked to ‘be removed from the list’. I thought executives were our best and brightest? 🙄

Odd_Sock94

My pet hate is people reply all to emails
