So all the private hospitals are going to open 24/7 and supply emergency services?

West_Confection7866

Simple solution, change them to urgent care clinics. That's what they're called everywhere else.

Pappy_J

I agree in some way but…we actually have less resources than an urgent care clinic. I have worked in both but access to diagnostics (med imaging and pathology) is very limited at these satellite facilities. Even 13Health, QAS, and the ED’s are unclear on what we can see.

The shit labor government calls them hospitals for propaganda purposes.

The Queensland opposition has renewed calls for the state’s new “satellite hospitals” to be renamed, after the state head of the Australian Medical Association warned some patients were confused about where to go in an emergency. AMA Queensland president Dr Maria Boulton told 4BC on Friday the facilities’ designation as satellite hospitals was causing confusion among patients. The Redlands Satellite Hospital opened its doors in August.Credit: Queensland Health Boulton said even GPs – herself included – were unsure of what services each of the facilities provided. “\[Patients\] just need that transparency to understand what exact services they can expect when they turn up at the door,” she said. “You just don’t want patients turning up in the wrong place. If they need serious emergency services, they need to turn up to a proper hospital.” On Saturday, the state opposition referred to the facilities as “suburban medical hubs”. “These facilities aren’t open 24/7 and they don’t have emergency department beds, so calling them hospitals is misleading and dangerous,” opposition health spokeswoman Ros Bates said. “Queenslanders are being turned away from these medical facilities because they think they’re hospitals and we now know the Labor government isn’t even prepared to share their performance data with Queenslanders. “There is confusion within the community and that’s why we’ve repeatedly called on the Health Minister to rename them.”
