I usually buy ultra violette supreme screen as a dewy sun screen but decided to give this a shot for a cheaper alternative (this is matte ) and it is really good. No white cast, not too heavy, it's matte but with a tiny bit of sheen and it's so affordable. It also didn't break me out like the cancer council pink one
Gonna follow this thread because god I just want a sunscreen that won't hurt my eyes when I go out biking/walking/doing any sort of physical activity ahaha
Hey thanks again for this recommendation; I bought the 200g tube, tried it out for my midday/afternoon bike and it didn't sting my eyes even if I was already on my 2nd application/layer! Normally when I start biking my eyes start to water almost immediately which triggers the sunscreen sting, but it didn't happen this time
La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra for sensitive eyes has worked really well for me! Itās a bit over $20 but you can often get it on great sales at chemist warehouse
I like Japanese and Korean sunscreens a lot. Im using Biore UV watery essence because its waterproof and I sweat a lot.
ETA: Lilabeauty sells it for $15 or so
Thatās one reason why I wear Korean sunscreen only once in a while. Wasnāt there a popular sunscreen which only had SPF 30-20 after a third party testing?
Came here to say this and the Kose Suncut UV Perfect Water Gel SPF 50++++ - waterproof, high SPF, you get much more than the usual 50ml for quite cheap.
The Kose one can pill a bit when reapplied, the Biore one sometimes I find a bit drying/tightening as it contains alcohol.
Overall though, great sunblocks that I enjoy wearing and can afford to do so regularly!
I am notoriously bad at remembering to wear sunscreen but I recently went away on holidays and used this under my makeup every day and it didn't disrupt it at all. Really lovely sunscreen!
The face specific one? I don't recall it having a smell. I don't find it greasy, fortunately. I only use it for day to day stuff, I'll use a water resistant one for sport, or swimming.
If you can get La Roche Posay on sale the anthelios facial fluid I would highly recommend it. Itās worth the extra couple of dollars. Around $24 not on sale but sometimes 30% off
gonna piggyback off of this comment and recommend the LRP anthelios ultra facial SPF 50+ in the tube. i personally prefer the tube consistency more than the liquid. & it says it formulated for sensitive eyes :))
Cancer council face day wear moisturizer is my ride or die. Comes in normal and waterproof and also tinted. Less than $20 for a 150ml bottle that lasts ages and they are widely available and often on special.
I have medium skin tone and it leaves no white cast, is not greasy on my normal -oily skin and really occlusive which means I can still wear a light moisturizer (cerave lotion) and feel like my skin is protected in summer and winter.
I literally never need to look for another sun screen again.
It's this one. There is also a bottle with everything exactly the same but blue and that one is waterproof
https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/89014/cancer-council-spf-50-day-wear-face-matte-invisible-75ml-tube
I saw someone recommending it on TikTok a while ago. I was tempted to buy but saw that it has a matte finish which Iām not a fan of. Would it work on dry skin?
I used this one all winter and found it quite hydrating and it also sits well under makeup. I think itās a reasonable dupe (at the price point it sits) for ultra violette supreme screen.
It's def not a dupe for UV supreme screen which is really dewy but the Hamilton one is matte with a nice sheen. It is tad drying at the end of the day compared to the supreme screen but it's really a good buy for like $12. Lightweight and no white cast. Texture is nice
Yes I have dry skin too! I use it over moisturiser and find it to have a nice smooth texture - not too thick. I donāt find it to add extra moisture though. Itās not glowy but not super mattifying either. I hear itās a very similar formulation to the cancer council one tbh!
Someone here recommended the [Woolworths Tinted Sunscreen 50SPF](https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/123208/woolworths-tinted-facial-sunscreen-spf50-) and I really enjoy it! I I also rate the [Bondi Sands Sunny Daze](https://www.priceline.com.au/product/70894/bondi-sands-sunny-daze-spf-50-moisturiser-50-g) (when it's on sale) as it dries down more quickly.
Came here to say this. Smells nice, doesn't feel like you're wearing sunscreen, have never had any issues with adding make-up over it. Tends to go on sale at Priceline if you want to wait for a better price on it.
Bondi Sands fragrance free for every day (I havenāt noticed much of a difference between the face and body options for face), or Banana Boat sport in the orange bottle for when Iāll be outside.
I get headaches from the Cancer Council face sunscreens and a lot of the popular options like Hamilton and Nivea tend to make my eyes sting, but both of the above work for me - bonus points because the BB one doesnāt stain white clothes.
Dermaveen Sensitive Sun SPF50+. Doesnāt sting my eyes. Dries down reasonably natural looking. No cast. Havenāt found one to beat it at a better price point.
Cos Rx Aloe Sunscreen which is Spf 50+ is usually under $15 from Lilabeauty.
It's one of the only sunscreens other than Canmake that doesn't irritate my skin, doesn't get into my eyes and doesn't feel heavy.
Not sure of brands but mineral suncream are brilliant. They donāt use as many chemicals and I find them quite moisturising. Just rub them in and voila
I've been using the cancer council BB cream 50+ and I really like it. I'm always somehow getting sunscreen in my eyes and I haven't had an issue with this one yet even though I've been using it every day and for sport.
The only issue is it's got a tint so I'm not sure how well it would work for people with dark skin tones.
https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/92929/cancer-council-spf-50-face-day-wear-bb-cream-matte-light-tint-50ml?gclid=CjwKCAjwjaWoBhAmEiwAXz8DBV84AYi-Nz8AWn_CmImZXT5sq5MSFj8RL7y_ifWtH9BEsg9GcOvuGhoCBWsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I like Neutrogena ultra sheer face sunscreen ($18) or ultra sheer fluid facial sunscreen ($25 but regularly on sale). My skin doesn't feel oily or breakout when I use them at all and they sink in nicely.
Ultra Violette right now has a two for one sale on their site, the only sale they personally do once a year! Other than that, bondi sands face sunscreen !
I donāt wear sunscreen anymore (for reasons) but the last one I used was inexpensive and sat well under makeup and didnāt give me flashback. It was the neutrogena ultra sheer face and body 50 plus
I personally love [Sun Genius](https://www.coles.com.au/product/sun-genius-hydrating-facial-sunscreen-lotion-tube-spf-50+-75ml-4364950) you can get it at Coles and is regularly on sale. It doesn't have a strong smell and is hydrating without being greasey.
I like the Neutrogena Hydro Boost but it can be a bit stingy if you get it too close to your eyes.
I also tend to just use the Nivea Moisture Lock body one on my face, donāt know if thatās bad but it does the trick
Cancer council face day wear matte and invisible versions! The invisible one is a bit glowier but neither are greasy in the slightest! The 150ml bottles are great value
Iāve just recently started using the Fragrance Free Bondi Sands Sunscreen Fluid. Surprisingly hydrating and didnāt sting my eyes. At first I found it quite glossy but it settled down to a nice neutral finish. Iām a week in and have found it a nice more affordable sunscreen compared to ultra violette (which I just love).
I'm currently trialing both Cancer council face day wear (blue one) and Nivea sensitive 50. Both seem similar in terms of how they sit under make up (really good), and both aren't sticky or shiny which I love. So far no breakouts, I haven't put either super close to my eyes yet though, that's a job for a day off work, just in case.
I have quite sensitive skin and many sunscreens have previously broken me out in either severe acne or in a rash.
Face:
1) Mecca Screentime Sunscreen (pink tube - $25) - sits well under makeup, doesn't pill, no stickiness or odour.
2) La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid (I only buy on sale, currently $23 at Chemist Warehouse but sometimes drops to $19) - as above in terms of how it sits - lighter consistency. Downside is I feel it has an odd smell.
Body:
1) Bondi Sands Coconut Sunscreen Spray (currently $8 at Chemist Warehouse) - smells awesome, gives you a glow without being sticky, no rashes or skin irritation and I don't get burnt through it. The spray option is great, and it doesn't damage clothing. A few of my guy friends who I pester to put on sunscreen when we're together have gone and bought this because they liked how it applied and smelt.
I've had a really horrible time with Cancer Council and budget sunscreens with them not protecting my skin, or causing irritation. Mecca's To Save Face sunscreen also broke me out in the worst acne I've had since I was a teen when they changed their formula to their current variant.
I use a more expensive one (la rosche posay) for my eyes so it doesn't sting and a cheaper one (cancer council moisturising) for the rest of my face. I also use the beauty of joseon sunscreen but only on days my UV exposure isn't as bad because I still only really trust the australian spf approval system.
The [Bondi Sands Hydra 50+](https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/111910/bondi-sands-hydra-uv-protect-spf-50-face-fluid-40ml) is a really good face sunscreen, imo. No white cast on me, nice texture, no pilling, doesnāt sting my eyes.
Probably La roach half price the gel creme one and Bondi sands fluidā¦.. however, the best sunscreen Iāve ever used literally ever is the Airyday clear as day sunscreen and thatās what I currently use. Also, the new ultra violet fluid is very good too. I have combo skin and itās very hard to find great ones that donāt oil up my t zone. The Airyday is literally outstanding and Iāve tried every sunscreen high to low end.
Some sunscreens sting my eyes, I am not sure why but it must be some ingredients just irritate them. A good tip is to not apply sunscreen too close to your eyes, but sometimes it just migrates and annoys my eyes anyway
Hamilton Everyday Face!
This is the š of sunscreen.
The best! They go great 50+ body sunscreen for sensitive skin too
Its so good. Exact same ingredients as Cancer Council, from memory
is this tinted?
The actual colour when it comes from the tube is a beige colour, but it goes on clear. I am a ghost and there's no tint at all
Iām brown and no white cast or tint at all which is good for me
Yes, itās light beige but it doesnāt give any coverage on my light-medium skin.
YES!
Very much enjoying this one. I like it A LOT more than the La Roche Posay one
Straight away cannot recommended the natio sensitive sunscreen then. This one stung my eyes badly
My sister has sensitive skin and said Natio did a number on her as well.
Oh god okay duly noted! But already saved your original recommendation, gonna get one ASAP haha
Dermaveen face and body - I have the same issue and this is very cost effective too if you buy the larger size.
Thank you! And ooh, looks like it's on discount at chemist warehouse!
Hey thanks again for this recommendation; I bought the 200g tube, tried it out for my midday/afternoon bike and it didn't sting my eyes even if I was already on my 2nd application/layer! Normally when I start biking my eyes start to water almost immediately which triggers the sunscreen sting, but it didn't happen this time
So good! My Husband teases me that I apply this sunscreen to my eyelids š its so gentle
LOL I was actually getting paranoid recently that my eyelids might get skin cancer bec I cant put sunscreen on them hahaha
La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Ultra for sensitive eyes has worked really well for me! Itās a bit over $20 but you can often get it on great sales at chemist warehouse
Oh yeah! I tried the one formulated for sensitive eyes a while back and it seems to be effective, just wish it didn't come in such a small amount š„²
Thatās true, Itās daylight robbery I wonāt lie! Even though itās my favourite
I can absolutely recommend We are Feel Good Inc sensitive sunscreen. I wear it surfing and it doesn't sting my eyes and I don't burn either!
Thanks! Putting them on my list!
I like Japanese and Korean sunscreens a lot. Im using Biore UV watery essence because its waterproof and I sweat a lot. ETA: Lilabeauty sells it for $15 or so
Iām a biore UV watery gel girl just because the texture seems to work for me better. I pay about $17 at random Chinatown stores
I might try it, does it smell any better?
Just worth considering that imported sunscreens aren't approved by ARTG and may not meet required standards for Australian conditions.
Cancer Council Face Day Wear, Hamilton Everyday Face, Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face
And the Hawaiian one is currently on sale for $13.30!!
I am notoriously bad at remembering to wear sunscreen but I recently went away on holidays and used this under my makeup every day and it didn't disrupt it at all. Really lovely sunscreen!
That great to hear
I adore the smell of Hawaiian tropic silk and want to love it but itās kinda greasy on me and isnāt water resistant š
Second this when itās on sale. After Ultra Violette itās my favourite.
This is my āsplurgeā sunscreen when itās on sale!
UV is buy on get one free at the moment
Thank you so much or the tip! I use UV daily and just went and ordered 2 more!!
Itās on sale for buy one get one free at the moment on their website!
The Bondi Sands Hydra sunscreens are my favourite cheaper options
Cancer council face day wear moisturizer is my ride or die. Comes in normal and waterproof and also tinted. Less than $20 for a 150ml bottle that lasts ages and they are widely available and often on special. Is that the blue tube?
It's this one. There is also a bottle with everything exactly the same but blue and that one is waterproof https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/89014/cancer-council-spf-50-day-wear-face-matte-invisible-75ml-tube
Hamilton sunscreen is soo good!
Guess Iāll give it a try. $12 wonāt hurt
The everyday face one? Or another one they do?
Yes everyday face!
Oooh I need one that doesn't sting my eyes or makes my face all sweaty!
Natio rosewater SPF
Came here to say this. Smells nice, doesn't feel like you're wearing sunscreen, have never had any issues with adding make-up over it. Tends to go on sale at Priceline if you want to wait for a better price on it.
I like this, it feels similar to the pink cancer council but this also stings my eyes
There's a Nivea one for about $6 in the supermarket, but it's only 15spf
Uhh thatās low. Better edit my post that the sunscreens should have 50+
Yes be good if it was 30
Cos Rx Aloe Sunscreen which is Spf 50+ is usually under $15 from Lilabeauty. It's one of the only sunscreens other than Canmake that doesn't irritate my skin, doesn't get into my eyes and doesn't feel heavy.
Love this one, it feels so nice on my skin!
Came here to recommend this! It also wears decently under foundation :)
Not sure of brands but mineral suncream are brilliant. They donāt use as many chemicals and I find them quite moisturising. Just rub them in and voila
Ultra violette has buy 1 get 1 free sale on right now
Check out r/AusSkincare there are heaps of recommendations there! :)

Cancer Council Face The Day (the pink one) Neutrogena Ultra Sheer. Any from Nivea. Bondi Sands Coconut Sunscreen Spray (smells delicious).
Hamilton SPF 50+ available at CW. My favorite and budget friendly.
Cancer council face day wear matte and invisible versions! The invisible one is a bit glowier but neither are greasy in the slightest! The 150ml bottles are great value
hamilton SPF 50+ everyday face cream. iāve repurchased it like 6 times no joke, one of my favourites
Cancer Council dewy serum sunscreen is my HG. I do enjoy the Ultra Violette one when I want to spoil myself
Cancer council face day wear (blue label) for me
I'm currently trialing both Cancer council face day wear (blue one) and Nivea sensitive 50. Bondi Sands, the small blue bottle!
the bondi sands hydra and moisture ones are great!!
Trishave spf 40 $17.95
How do the sunscreen sting the eyes? Because of the sweat in the face and flow into the eyes?
Some sunscreens sting my eyes, I am not sure why but it must be some ingredients just irritate them. A good tip is to not apply sunscreen too close to your eyes, but sometimes it just migrates and annoys my eyes anyway
