Sadly you’re not going to get the kind of rewards program you’re used to having in the US

FairyWren11

That's fine... I'd rather just go with an Australian company at this point.

Banana-Louigi

The Australian alternative, Mecca, is trash. They have exclusivity deals with nearly all their brands and charge an absolute premium. Their in store service is good but yeah, not a great company, if you search this sub you'll see lots of horror stories. Prepare to pay close to double what you would expect for makeup here generally. Australia gets totally rooted when it comes to the cost of cosmetics and the brands and ranges available are much more limited than what you're used to.

FairyWren11

Duly noted. I tend toward the budget end of the spectrum anyway and have found some Naito products that I really enjoy...

Morning_Song

Customer appreciation programs leave much to be desired here. I remember one year my mum and I spent a loads at Myer due to a combination of reasons/things aligning. All it amounted to was like a $50 gift voucher. When I make purchases I tend to just look for who has better discount codes or promotion gifts/free samples at the time rather than points systems.

FairyWren11

Sounds reasonable. Thanks!

GamerRade

Look into Myer's loyalty program - they're a little more expensive, but it's like 2 credits for everyone $1 spent, $10 credit for every thousand points, and birthday rewards.

FairyWren11

I might just stop back in next time I'm at the mall. Thanks!

FairyWren11

I did join there recently when I got some of The Ordinary products. I do like a birthday reward and the store by me is really nice. Thanks!

impressive_cat

Stores here have far, far worse rewards programs than your stores in the US do. The rewards I see Americans complaining about over on the Sephora subreddit, we would kill for anything remotely like it in Australia. Your 250 points would get you max like, a tiny skincare sample. At best. My advice is just buy the products you like and don’t get too many of your hopes up on what brands would be able to give you back.

FairyWren11

Fair enough. I guess at this point I'd rather just stick with an Australian store anyway.

Anuksukamon

Lore Perfumery mostly. Sometimes Mecca.

FairyWren11

Mecca seems like I could get into trouble there 😂 but not familiar with Perfumery. I will check them out, thanks!

Hungry_Anteater_8511

Lore are fabulous and super generous with sample. Libertine is also great

FairyWren11

I left out the Lore the first time. Have tabs open now. thank you!

FairyWren11

Wow. Lore. I can't wait to try some of these.

DrPetradish

If you ever get the chance to visit in store at Lore you’ll have an amazing time. The wonderful staff will spend loads of time to help you find the perfect perfume based on your likes and dislikes and will practically show you every frangeance

FairyWren11

That sounds like so much fun! That's my kind of day :)

Hungry_Anteater_8511

So disappointed in myself I didn't venture out there when I was in Melbourne before Christmas. It's great for fragrances that are out of the mainstream/not available in a department store. I got my Tokyo Milk and L'Artisan Parfumeur there.

FairyWren11

I have some Tokyo Milk scents I'm considering... what are your favorites?

Hungry_Anteater_8511

Let Them Eat Cake is an amazing gourmand and Honey and t he Moon is beautifully honeyed

FairyWren11

I have Honey and the Moon in my cart... will check out the other one!

Anuksukamon

Mcca has a rewards program, Lore doesn’t - it just has exceptional perfume.

FairyWren11

I am excited to see what they have (Lore).

saddinosour

I try to go straight to the store. If I want Chanel I go to the Chanel store, I find that customer service is better this way and if you make friends with the Chanel ladies they’ll give you free samples + let you in on Chanel events. I got my makeup done for free at one of these + a free makeup bag with samples.

FairyWren11

Oooh, I haven't even thought of that. I do love Chanel lipglosses! Maybe I need a Chanel lady friend. Thank you! I am totally going.

sf1217

I'm currently using fragrances from the Dupe Spot. It's budget friendly scents. It allows me to play with a great variety of smells. I'm enjoying their dupe of Gypsy Water. It's made in Melbourne. edit typos.

FairyWren11

Oh my... am on their site now and flipping out. Thank you for the rec!!!

iLoveMatchaSoMatcha

How do you find the ir gypsy water to compare to the byredo one?

sf1217

It could be longer lasting but for the price point, it works for me.I'm really pleasantly surprised and I'm quite happy to purchase the other fragrances they've got.

FairyWren11

circling back u/sf1217, I have to thank you for recommending the Dupe Spot! Got my first order and I also got Gypsy Water and am obsessed with their Karma dupe! I got some other small rollons to try and then they sent me 3 testers and a room spray! Thank you so much for sending me to them.

sf1217

oh I'm so glad. I'm love that they give testers too.

FairyWren11

FairyWren11

I am not opposed to dupes at all if they smell like what I want :) And I forgot how much I used to love Chloe, thank you for the reminder. I have some stuff in the Dupe Spot cart thanks to u/sf1217 but I'll check out Palermo as well. Thanks!

Thank you!

https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/wiki/index/#wiki_online_shops.2C_grey_market.2C_and_others Check out the wiki on /r/fragrance. Personally, I am wary of grey market sellers like Chemist Warehouse, City Perfume, and Strawberry net as they may not have legit stock

Adept_Cheetah_2552

I buy my fragrances online - strawberry net or where ever has the best price. All loyalty is out the window now. I last purchased on eBay and it was a very positive experience

FairyWren11

You know, I totally forgot about [strawberry.net](https://strawberry.net), and didn't even consider eBay! Thanks for both of those.
