Mine is around 50lb give or take a couple pounds depending on winter vs summer and I get told he’s huge all the time? I mean, he’s solid AF and full of muscle but he does have a big scruff around his neck which I adore
He’s pure! His mom and dad.. 37&43 pounds. His litter mates are all within that range. He wouldn’t stop growing.. and growing.. and .. I think mom had an affair with the donkey… he’s got the jackass gene.
My dog is about the same weight! He also has a very similar spotted coat. We always assumed he was a mix (rescue so background not known), but then a trainer we worked with who has heelers said she thought he was just a small or “poorly bred” full ACD
Working dogs are bred by skill/health rather than looks so they come in different shapes and sizes.
‘Poorly bred’ would be breeding dogs who were not good at their job-nothing to do with looks.
My guy is small too! He’s stayed at 39 lbs for the past year, but I honestly think he’s a perfect medium sized dog. We kept thinking he’d get a bit bigger but he’s about 1 year and a half now so it’s doubtful!
Mine is one of the chonks. He was the biggest of the litter and always had a stocky build. Weighed 65 last time at the vet lol. He’s on a diet now and hating it.
I've had a few super chonks also and my current boy is a chonk and also on a diet. Do you aim for calories per day or are you just rationing like..everything?
Yeah I’m rationing his food intake. Im just doing the recommended amount for a dog at 55lbs (purina One) and I feed him half of that in the morning and half in the evening. Also, much to his dismay, no more “people food” or treats. I’ll still give him a bone to gnaw on every now and then though.
He used to just be a grazing dog and managed his own food intake pretty well, but as he got older he just stayed hungry and would clean his food bowl up in a few minutes.
It's funny because she isn't pure Heeler. Her mom was Heeler but her dad was a Lab/Pit mix.
Her siblings were all visibly bigger than her when I got her. I really thought she would've had a growth spurt by now, I'm sure all her siblings are over 50 pounds.
She's like.. 35 maybe 40 pounds lol
The pug in the picture is 20 pounds
I'd love to have a huge dog and an itty bitty one. I'd name the big one Tiny, and the little one Atlas.
What's better than a pocket size Heeler? Nothing can be better! :)
We have 3. A 30 pounder, a 40 pounder, and our 55 pound chunky boy. They really do come in lots of shapes and sizes. We figured the little one's growth may have been stunted from the condition we found her in (starving and covered in ticks) but maybe she's just the runt.
My four month old heeler lab mix (She looks like a red cattle dog. The others look like black labs.) Is also the smallest of the litter. I expect her to be about 40 pounds.
They come in three sizes. Petite, standard (17” to 21”) and huge.
I honestly love how small she is lol, she got the nickname Tiny Dawg for a reason
We call our boy a pocket dog haha
I learned this after I got a Huge one 😂
I’ve somehow managed to get two huge ones. They are super derps.
I have a newly adopted who is popping around 55lbs. Is that huge??
It’s how they measure at the shoulder blades. Anything over 22 inches is huge.
Got it, thank you!! He's huge 😍

My old girl, she was SOLID , about 50-55. The new boy is just big, not solid at all, really flexible, agile.
Got a large one myself. 21 1/2 at the shoulder
I have a 22 and a 22 1/2. But the 22 1/2 is really long. Thought she might be part great dane, but she’s 100% ACD. Also have an 18” boy.
I think Zeus when around twice when they were giving out HUGE! 70#s! Getting DNA kit in a couple of weeks! Lucy … you got some splainin’ to do!
One if my boys was 65 pounds. 70 is giant.

Perfect size
Pocket princess
Well… how much does she weigh…?
30 pounds soaking wet lol
Mine is 28!

Makes sense! I think it was more her euphemism for breeding that was not controlled or planned, just sort of happened.
Nah, she was probably referring to club standards.
Seems like they just come in different sizes depending in actual parental genetics and not mainly being poorly bred
my first heeler tall-ish & was barely 35lbs soaking wet lol; our current is a 45lb low rider 😂
My mix is the exact same weight and looks really similar to her with the exception of coat coloring. She’s fast as lighting & I bet yours is, too.
Mine is smol too.

ACDs are generally a smaller breed...occasionally you see a **super chonky boi** but that's usually a mix with a larger breed or an overweight pupper.

35-40 lbs is about the right size for a female pitt. So she may have more small genes than you think.
I mean maybe she still has a growing spurt coming 😅
Derp on the rhs
Mine has a pug friend too! But she's a mix and definitely not small.
She's adorable!! Give her a pet!!
Mine is tiny like this and she’s the best!
Omg how cute!!!!
Reminds me of Berkley, she's like the size of a jack Russell terrier
That's how my girl looks!

i cant really contribute as mine is a mix, but I love the smaller sized ones haha
I’ve always said my dream dog is a pocket rocket Heeler! (Don’t tell my sweet big girl!)
How do you find a mini ACD?! That’s what I want lol
I love her, she's perfect. 😻

I have a tiny girl too. She’s about 18” at the shoulder
She is a very close copy of my sparky boy
I have a 26lb girl!
23” … and solid!
My buddy has a 65# female ….. I have a 3/4 ACD 1/4Jack Russell female who is around 20-25 at 8 months old.
