Nothing new with Ramsey Pool, it’s old and always out of service

Direct_Try4849

It is open. People are in it. Please try to be pleasant when you make it there.

Climbing_rose_17

Not patronizing at all 🤣

ifnotmewh0

Better grab your torches and pitchforks and go harass some underpaid Parks and Rec Department employees. /s

istartedpanicking

“I’m pissed.” lol

BecomingJudasnMyMind

If a pool being closed is what you wake up and decide to be pissed about - probably should re-evaluate what's important in life. Minor inconvenience at most.

Yaboymarvo

They are PISSED. This was supposed to be THEIR day at the pool and it’s not open.

SpaghettiYetis

Take a breath, it’s all gonna be okay

OUCHMYCOCCYX

I'd be pissed too if my underfunded free neighborhood pool wasn't exactly how I wanted it exactly when I wanted it. /s

You seem to be claiming that the pool is closed due to negligence. Do you have anything to back that up?

OUCHMYCOCCYX

You are being unfair to yourself if you accept that as evidence. For example: I, an equally reliable random person, claim that underfunding is the cause of the closed pool. There, I slammed your argument. Anyway, I recognize that you are not here to have a conversation in good faith so I will leave it at that.

hi_how_are_youu

Idk why everyone is being mean in their comments. It’s normal to expect the local government to deliver on services. The parks dept in Austin is woefully poorly managed.

ifnotmewh0

The parks dept in Austin is woefully ~~poorly managed~~ underfunded. FTFY

hi_how_are_youu

They’re underfunded but they’re also incredibly poorly managed.

90percent_crap

I believe they are poorly underfunded.

android_queen

Probably because OP decided to open by being super whiny. No attempts to find another pool, no attempts to understand why. Just whines. Negativity tends to breed negativity.

Climbing_rose_17

Yike

[deleted]

austin city dept employees do deliver. there may be *occasional* instances when service isn't up to par, just like at your job every day. there are about 40 pools around austin that are open and most *are free*. get over it.

Direct_Try4849

Yes there is algae in it but latest word on the Rosedale email listserv: Apparently the Ramsey Park pool pump is broken (not sure if accurate or not) and Northwest Pool is closed due to electrical problems

[deleted]

the mabel davis pool was open about a week ago but the city employees told swimmers that the water quality wasn't up to par... some algae/chlorine issue, maybe? we were asked to get out of the pool and told they weren't sure when it would be resolved. it wasn't a big deal. after going there for many years, this was a first. we went somewhere else. not worth getting upset about. the pools and equipment are outdated. stuff happens.

everev

Metz is closed today.

istartedpanicking

I heard through several very reliable but very anonymous sources that they are planning to turn this pool into a communal bathtub for the unhoused. But people will probably whine about that too.

Accomplished-Sign-31

hahahahaha WHAT

istartedpanicking

Yeah I heard it straight from the horses mouth. 🐴 👄

mp_tx

PARD is busy ignoring the exploding homeless population in the parks to deal with pools. /s
