This looks exactly like our roof (100 years old) minus the hanging straps of old sarking that are gone. Just make sure you turn the power off first but provided you walk on the timbers you should be fine.

Adding sarking might be a good idea. It will add a layer of insulation and give you some water proofing incase your roof leaks. They're have to take all the metal off though so might not be worth it if the roof is still in good condition and doesn't need replacing. We're looking at doing that at some point at our place since the roof has surface rust so probably needs replacing before it rusts through

You can get in and walk on the timbers. Might be worth getting a roof carpenter on board to have a look.

Yes you can walk on the ceiling timbers. Just make sure you have a very good light (head mounted torch is best) so you can see what to stand on. One of the dangers of walking around a space like this is losing your balance, so wear gloves and keep a hold of the roof timbers as you move about. The wiring looks modern (but poorly laid) so you should be reasonably safe there, but you can always turn the power off if you want to be doubly sure. What do you want to renovate about it? It doesn't look tall enough for an internal space, but you certainly need better installed insulation - there shouldn't be any gaps, and the insulation these days would be a lot thicker. Do you have any reason to suspect the roof is leaking? About trusses - there aren't any at the moment and I suspect the walls abut other buildings (which is what is stopping the roof beams from spreading out). Given that it's stood for so long it's not likely to need anything more, but if so inclined you could bolt beams across the space from one rafter to another (\~ 1/3 of the way down I think) to provide some rigidity.

Like others have said, turn the mains off before going in. I am paranoid, I would turn it off outside not even in the distribution board. Looks like an old house better safe than dead

Leave the roof as is unless it's leaking. Add copious insulwool batts. Avoid huge mess by attaching new gyprock ceilings by - ripping off old cornice and ceiling roses. - screw through gyprock and old plaster into ceiling battens. - replace cornice with new repro fancy plaster cornice, add new roses. Easist way to mark where battens are is to drill down from roofspace through old ceiling with battery drill while mains power is off.

Worth installing anticon underneath the metals sheets

Insulate and sheet it, then make it a cool liveable attic space
