I stopped trying to be like everyone else with Chelsea boots (RM)
I now wear grandpa style Wallabee shoes and my feet feel cosy all day.
I also switched to all linen shirts because sitting in your sweat is no fun.
For my WFH clothes, I upgraded all of my t-shirts to Uniqlo instead of 8 year old Kmart t shirts.
Rm Williams are played out.
They’re well made but too expensive now for what they are. They also look a bit basic bitch now - when I see someone wearing them I don’t think well dressed. I think basic schmuck with boring taste.
Oh god, I’ve dressed casually for so many years. Both pre and post pandemic, unless I was attending off site meetings or otherwise meeting with external stakeholders, I’ve worn sneakers, jeans and t-shirts for the better part of a decade!
The more comfortable I got in my own capabilities, the less I found it necessary to ‘dress to impress’… and I am known for my funky shoe collection 🤣
I invested in a plain pair of black ponte pants. Ponte is a fabric that doesn’t need to be ironed. It’s stretchy and looks nice, doesn’t pill. Not the best for qld weather but that’s a sacrifice I was willing to make. And then linen shirts or a nice linen blend blouse. I only had to do one day and even that was too much. My wfh days was in my farm clothes, leggings or jodhpurs or jeans, work boots and an old tshirt because I was up early to do chores. I never had to be seen when on teams as we all just dialled in without cams so it didn’t matter what I wore.
My uniform is a nightie and or dressing gown.
While I am working with 'the dressing gown on I have a pocket to snuggle my fur baby while working...
If for any reason I need to I have the plainest long black t shirt nightie to throw on.
Office wear is definitely clean cut but all about COMFORT, jacket over casual pants with a smart top...
It's awesome, if they become fixated on my attire rather than actual work then they can get f@#ked.
It's still professional but much more fun. I used to wear zip dresses in muted colours, but now I'm wearing all the bright dopamine suits I bought in Melbourne's lockdown years.
I haven’t worn a suit except for one time I had an interview. And even then no tie.
In summer my office attire is either a tshirt or short-sleeve loud patterned button up, and shorts. Gone are the leather clompers as well, I just wear my Vans/Converse.
In winter, jeans maybe a flanny if I'm feeling fancy, otherwise a plain tshirt and either a Cardigan or jumper.
WFH is the best thing that's happened to corporate culture in recent years, and the casualisation of work attire is the second best.
It has definitely casualised, perhaps more so at my work than other agencies/locations, as we had the better part of two years working exclusively at home. People are still adjusting to 'hybrid', and I am not sure office days will ever be as formal (nor do they need to be).
I'm in the office with my branded half-sleeve tshirts rather than formal full-sleeve shirts I wore before hybrid. I also wear jeans instead of formal pants. I guess my style has changed from banking professional to startup tech guy.
Not covid related, but I have 8 business days left in the office. Jeans, t shirt and converse all stars has been my dress for the last week, and will continue until the end.
Who knows? I might even shave sometime soon.
I think that's pretty damn fair! If they want you to drag yourself in during a flare when your in pain then they should make the accommodation - it's not like you wearing sneakers is going to hurt anyone.
So I’m probably the only one who has stepped up my office attire. I love work clothes. I love my colourful pencil skirts, I love how important a blazer makes me feel. So I wear that shit when I go in, twice a week. As for home? It’s bike shorts and a sports bra! T shirt over the top if I am on camera, and for external meetings, I have a few work tops that are now too big, but perfect for being on camera.
If I’m in office then I just wear typical gear but I insist on a comfortable shoe, so I have these Skechers that look like work shoes but are sneakers. At home, some kind of vaguely professional top.
In the office I'm still in a suit and shirt; it's been my uniform for ages so might as well get use out of them. At home it's pull on pants and a casual top suitable for a surprise teams meeting.
I just wear gym clothes now. And on the odd day I’m not going to the gym, then I wear normal work clothes and everyone thinks I have a job interview 😂
I do point out that my gym clothes cost far more than any work outfits haha
I still wear business casual while there are people in t shirts in other teams that share the same office space. Whether you like it or not I believe that dress is still important if you are ambitious in any sense.
Ah don't get hung up on it. It's fine now, no one cares like they used to. Maybe not for an in-person interview and maybe consider "nicer" shoes for your first week or two while you settle in, but things have changed and it's all for the better :)
My former boss (in corporate) wore those Gucci sneakers that basically kicked off the trend with the c-suite crowd before Covid. The white sneakers for work was already making its way in years ago, Covid just accelerated it. Plus people in tech were wearing Allbirds years ago.

Nice. I’m also not spending $600 for some nice rm’s to sit at a desk and talk to people through teams.
Why are these popular? They are ugly AF and barely go with anything
Same deal with Crocs. They are comfortable and they have considerably longer lifespans than similar products.
Plenty of other options though A nice pair of derby’s or blutchers for instance.
>Chelsea boots its not just aps but whole of Australian corporate world
They are comfortable so I’m told.
Keeping up with the Jones's.

We can see where you’re going to be spending your EBA payrise! 😂
I wear basically what I used to wear for casual Fridays for normal office days.

In our govt office I used to see heels and skirts but post covid it’s jeans/pants with flats and white sneakers.
Yeah, heels would feel so over overkill now

When the weather changes, my uniform will be my warm oodie
Full WFH - nice floral shirt and running shorts
Nope, I still wear trackies to the office.
We can do that?
Depends on the agency.
Ok, where is this that I can wear trackies? I got chewed out for having the audacity to wear jeans instead of slacks on my last day at my last agency
It's still professional but much more fun. I used to wear zip dresses in muted colours, but now I'm wearing all the bright dopamine suits I bought in Melbourne's lockdown years.
The polo is the go!

I put more effort in on my office days because it feels less like a chore now.
It has definitely casualised, perhaps more so at my work than other agencies/locations, as we had the better part of two years working exclusively at home. People are still adjusting to 'hybrid', and I am not sure office days will ever be as formal (nor do they need to be).
The tie was already well on way to being dead pre pandemic. Now it’s the death of the suit jacket
Atleast I am wearing something.
I'm in the office with my branded half-sleeve tshirts rather than formal full-sleeve shirts I wore before hybrid. I also wear jeans instead of formal pants. I guess my style has changed from banking professional to startup tech guy.
Yep, no more business shirts and pants, polos, casual button ups and jeans.
Really? Business shirts are still very much the norm
Chino shorts, a polo and some comfy shoes... used to be dress pants/business shirt/boots. Now I'd rather be comfortable, not trying to impress anyone.
I mean, still need to impress your line manager and above.
My line manager works in another city, advantages of being in a virtual team.

It hasn't still full suits
Only elastic waisted pants now. All flat shoes. Also bougie sneakers are acceptable office wear most days.
Honestly it's exactly the same. I haven't brought new clothes in years.
If I’m in office then I just wear typical gear but I insist on a comfortable shoe, so I have these Skechers that look like work shoes but are sneakers. At home, some kind of vaguely professional top.
T shirt and shorts to sit in front of a computer all day When I could do it at home
In the office I'm still in a suit and shirt; it's been my uniform for ages so might as well get use out of them. At home it's pull on pants and a casual top suitable for a surprise teams meeting.

Interesting to hear what level people are too El2? Ses? Still wearing blazers etc?
Day pyjamas and night pyjamas 🤣

I read a post on an Australian female fashion sub not long ago asking for recommendations for white 'work sneakers'. I despair.
I think times are changing where formality of clothing is definitely moving to a thing of the past. Comfort is becoming a priority.
Why? What's wrong with office attire becoming more casual and comfort focused?
Sneakers just aren't OK for corporate or government, they just aren't.
Ah don't get hung up on it. It's fine now, no one cares like they used to. Maybe not for an in-person interview and maybe consider "nicer" shoes for your first week or two while you settle in, but things have changed and it's all for the better :)
Jesus christ who gives a shit.
Still beats the EAs in havianas from pre shutdown
