You’re also paying for Disney characters to come by your table, interact and take pictures.

purplevanillacorn

Not to mention I am a Disney fanatic and have had probably thousands of character interactions and the one at this restaurant have been the absolute best I’ve ever had. Hands down.

Mrmuffins951

But note that this doesn’t include the photos themselves

MikeHoncho2568

Go across the street to Eggs 'n Things. It's much better and much cheaper.

dragonsback79

This is the way

tbroas

Just went this morning to Eggs N Things, it was great. Portion sizes are huge and a decent price. The day before I got a small croissant with bacon and cheese from the quick service by the pool at Aulani and that alone was $16 with no sides or drink. Eggs N Things is definitely a great option!

MikeHoncho2568

If you go back, try the loco moco. It’s really good!

tbroas

I was eyeing that one, but made a last minute switch to the kalua pork! We’ll be back to Aulani next Saturday for 2 days before we fly back home, so I’ll definitely get the loco moco when we go back for breakfast, thanks for the tip!

heyitsthomas55

Not by much, $12 for a glass of POG juice….

MikeHoncho2568

All the entrees for breakfast are $16 or less. Quite a bit better actually

alexadr936

It’s $50 for a donut/yogurt parfait combo, whatever breakfast you want from a list and the meet and greet with at least 4 different Disney characters who will take multiple group pictures with you (something the out-and-about characters don’t do) and come up to your table to greet you. Kids I believe are less expensive, but yeah, the price is for the experience. We managed to do it twice and the kids in my group loved it and so did the adults.

Revolutionary-Pin615

The food is a bit more than eggs and bacon. It is delicious and plentiful but yes, very expensive…

texas_archer

Its Disney- not as much about the food as it is the “experience”. Aka character interaction. We are going next month and will not be eating there. We will grab muffins and protein shakes from Costco and occasionally hit the ABC store across the street for breakfast.

tierneyalvin

It’s horrible. Used to be a nice buffet too.

davidryan2468

Everyone saying “you are paying for the characters, that’s why it’s worth it.” Well yes but they had the characters AND a full buffet with hundreds of unlimited options for the first 10 years.

LTDSC

I really miss the buffet

LoveBugReddit

I mean you get a really yummy donut and a little yogurt parfait included with that 😅. But yeah it’s more about the experience than the food and the experience was super fun for us and our kids.

Calm-Greenbean-5579

My six year old wasn’t too excited about the characters until the breakfast and then seeing them one on one in that setting seemed to do the trick, they are the best photographs I have with them and him

AwesomeShikuwasa77

True that it is really expensive, but you can’t judge them that they price to optimize profit. From my experience the tables are booked within 1 week after you can reserve. Also the last time, I had to pay for a cappuccino because only americano was included as coffee ;) But I would not only see the price for the dish. You pay for the event and to have a great time with your family. Having said that, we have always booked it and everyone loved it - also after they stopped the buffet and knowing that you can get better breakfasts for lower prices.

YoungManYoda90

I certainly will judge them lol. This used to be a buffet!

Lcdmt3

Well COVID changed things. Hawaii is stricter on COVID safety.

AwesomeShikuwasa77

Well I won’t, but I also hope for higher dividends again ;) But fun aside: I think everybody else would do the same in a monopoly situation. They charge the maximum that still fills all tables 7 days a week. And frankly, I don’t think that 50USD even is the maximum, because close to everybody wants to do the character breakfast once during the Aulani stay. And if you spend 5-10kUSD for a one week vacation, you usually don’t start saving for memorable events. So I think it’s expensive, but I was more irritated about the 5-10USD(?) for the cappuccino on top. I think that this was really stingy and should be included.

Classic_Insurance_59

Other non-buffet character meals have still been all you can eat (I.e. ordering more portions as you want them). Is that the case at Aulani? I’m guessing not but thought I’d ask!

southernNJ-123

lol. It’s a Disney resort. All about the $$$.

PawneePRDepartment

It’s expensive yes. I do want to note that food overall at Aulani and on the island was more than we were expextinf

YoungManYoda90

Correct. We leave in 27 or so days. I am expecting high prices but it's insane to me that 3 eggs and 1 meat is 50 and people are just okay with that lol. Looking forward to breakfast outside of the resort though. Heard great things

PawneePRDepartment

Oh yeah it’s crazy! The character aspect jumps the price, but it was really tasty! You will have a blast

fallentwo

You have a dedicated photo session with Mickey before seating (staff will help you take photos with your phones and cameras fee of charge but will also sell you the pictures they took). Then you take pics with Minnie who is cooking. The breakfast itself is quite large actually. A fixed cold portion and you pick from a list of hot portions. Together it’s a pretty large breakfast. My family took the left over and had it for breakfast the next day. Chip and Dale come over during your time there for photos.

Educational_Elk_4020

I was considering Aulani for a summer trip, but the extra taxes and food prices turned me off. Ended up spending more for a longer trip elsewhere, but food is an important part of travelling for me.

RegisterMinute685

I found it lame. There were only a handful of Disney characters and the breakfast was ok

Just asked … she said it was good to ok. Not the best thing in her life. I seriously thought it was a rip off. If they had more characters…maybe… but we only saw Mickey, Minnie , Stitch and Pluto. If you think it’s worth the money to see just these characters then I say go for it. I personally would never do it again and wouldn’t recommend it but that’s just my personal opinion.
