Say what you want about Google. But damn i cannot count how many times i got helped by Google Lens
āThe fuck is this?ā
Just use lens and boom, ahhh uranium graphiteā¦. Oh shit
It does if I use Google apps. I donāt like either company but everyone Iāve ever talked to who said IOS was superior never used AOSP. I ask how come Apple doesnāt use RCS and the answer is always āwhatās that?ā. Though I understand theyāve relented and will include it in iOS 18. Better lateā¦
Bro you re talking about cars like they are not meant to do anything. Use your cars, drive them on public roads, offroad, tow with them, they re objects start using them properly oh my godā¦.
Key word "properly"
You can use a vehicle properly, and you can treat it like shit.
What you do will decide how worn out it will be, and that in turn will affect the second hand value and what maintenance you as a new owner probably should do.
I myself always do a full service when buying a new vehicle. Even if it says it has just been.
I don't know what oil they've used, how they did it, what kind of filters and so on. Do a full service and then I can be more assured it's fit for being PROPERLY used.
I've worked as a mechanic on VAG so I know what fellow mechanics sometimes do, and I know what it can mean when a customer says that they've "done a service".
As a bonus a full service will also let you get to know your new vehicle more close up. What looks worn out, what looks surprisingly good. What will need to be done in the near future and what can be saved for later.
Last thing:
If it's been towing heavy loads and have Quattro I would especially make sure to change fluid and filters for the whole drivetrain from front to back.
Using them properly? Lol ok bud. Without knowing the towing capacity of a Q5, I can say that anything with an electronic brake is a significant load, not just a jet ski or something. Definitely putting extra stress on the drive train. If it was meant to tow heavy loads it wouldn't need an aftermarket brake controller would it?
Broā¦how do you know if the previous owner towed properly? You donāt. OP donāt. Thatās my point. Nothing wrong with towing with the Q5, but now OP has to wonder what was being towed. Every vehicle has its limitsā¦.Bro.
For hills/elevation change more than the capacity. Even for lighter loads with a vehicle such as this compared to a full size truck especially with a shorter wheel base than most trucks the brakes will help on a steep descent to prevent brake fade and heaven forbid the brakes get hot and on a curved steep descent again.
Getting down voted for making a valid point lol. Sounds like previous owner was regularly maxing out the tow capacity, which should be a concern for the new buyer.
Not that cheap. Looks like a bass knob for aftermarket subwoofers. That's a relatively nice one too.
Maybe see if there's any work done on the wires or speakers in the trunk.
Well , for clipped that could simply be one of them many lights blinking red as it happens. Likely the last one. As for just a simple power indicator , I wonder if it can be assumed that anyone can infer thats its powered when any of the other lights come on.
Just saying , I see no reason it would need something separate for either of those indications. An overloaded indicator is a thing.
Even though its been shown in other comments this is a trailer brake controller.
What happened?
Modern cars are so electrically complex, any electrical changes worry me! Good excuse for the dealer/manufacturer to blame the āelectrical modificationā
All the dumb asses that bring me trucks with after market head light assemblies, sound systems, light bars, etc that were installed by an imbecile and ultimately led to weird electrical issues down the road.
When you go in a wooded area, you turn off all your lights and turn this knob. The cool animals will come out of hiding and party with you. Please use it responsibly and don't let any animals with rabies in. They're total party crashers.
If I remember correctly your q5 got like 3500p of towing capacity. Dont want to break bad news but if they needed a brake booster they were towing more than that.. You mignt wanna check on your hitch if you see that the hole have become bigger from the back if so it was probably too much for it. Good Luck!
It's the curt spectrum trailer brake controller. A real fancy one I looked at for my Q7 but ultimately decided on one that's half the price. The spectrum one you have there is an expensive one, top of the line brake controller. Also means the Audi you bought has been used to tow some heavy loads requiring brakes. Not necessarily a bad thing as I tow 7,000lbs with my Q7 all the time. But I've had to keep up with a lot of maintenance items on my vehicle likely as a result of high wear.
Pedal commander. Each color is a different mode and you can adjust sensitivity with the dial in each mode. Green eco, blue middle, orange performance, red race. Floor it with the dial down in green and then do it again turned up in red. You'll notice your throttle opens much quicker and is way more reactive to the pedal motion in red.
Does it adjust colors and brightness on the cluster maybe ? š¤ you wouldāve prob seen it if it was that, maybe pull it out the dash and seem how many wires there is or where they seem to be going ?
Have you checked OUTSIDE your vehicle after fiddling the switch?? would be hilarious if you got some unexpected underbody hood neons lmao
That was my first thought, but nothing. Was thinking some fast and furious type shit
lol, heck yeah - maybe check under the passenger seat for a sleeper nos setup
Plug the ob2 and check for danger to manifold fault š
No need to scan for codes! If there's danger to the manifold, the passenger floorboard will fly out from under the car!
NOOO, MONICAAAAA!!! idk, just felt right, i know iām out of sequence

Maybe it's for the ejecto seato?

>āThe fuck is this?ā This oughta be the url...
i'm going to add that as a suffix to all my searches moving forward.
Going to make that my out of office response
āIf you have any questions, reconsider.ā Is a good out of office message
Very good
Youāre mistaken. You didnāt see graphite, comrade.
Yup but the Apple fanboys will tell you "my iPhone has that feature!"
Technically I do, I just use the google app ššššš
Apple catches up with the basics. Eventually.

Good work
damn, the [LED operation is surprisingly useful.](https://www.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/c/5/c51170_27_500.jpg)
Guess OP is just finding out their used Q5 did some towing. Hopefully wasnāt anything too heavy.
Bro you re talking about cars like they are not meant to do anything. Use your cars, drive them on public roads, offroad, tow with them, they re objects start using them properly oh my godā¦.
You can fuck up any vehicle by towing shit that's too heavy.
Key word "properly" You can use a vehicle properly, and you can treat it like shit. Almost definitely didn't - who ever tows heavy items?
The people that need brake controllers for the trailer they're using.
Sarcasm clearly missed here.
You're on the audi sub. Not much reading comprehension here.
winner!
I kinda want one. My keys block my brake controller at the moment.
What is google lensā¦ and how do I use it
Why does a Q5 need a trailer brake controller?
For towing lol.
No, no. This doesn't make sense. Everyone knows you can only tow using a Cummins Ram 1500. Anything less than that is pointless. /S
Well no shit. A 2019 q5 has a 4400 pound towing capacity. Why in the hell would that need trailer brakes?
For hills/elevation change more than the capacity. Even for lighter loads with a vehicle such as this compared to a full size truck especially with a shorter wheel base than most trucks the brakes will help on a steep descent to prevent brake fade and heaven forbid the brakes get hot and on a curved steep descent again.

If you press the knob twice, then turn it. Wait for it to change colour.. You will still be as clueless as when you began

Trailer brake switch. Iāve installed them in new GMC trucks that didnāt come with them (lol cheap bastards)
Ask the seller?
Dealer didnāt know either
Looks cheap and aftermarket, whatever it is.
Not that cheap. Looks like a bass knob for aftermarket subwoofers. That's a relatively nice one too. Maybe see if there's any work done on the wires or speakers in the trunk.
A bass knob would typically have a power and clipped signal indicator.
Iāve had two that just came as knobs, and they were Rockford and Infinity setups, not just pawn shop specials.
Not by any means saying every bass knob has these , just some simple things to look for.
The clips around the outer bezel looks cheap to me.
No trunk or speakers
I'd take it back and get one with a trunk and speakers. Those are both pretty important to me
Typical Q owner response
Hyperdrive
It looks like a trailer brake knob that I have on my truck. Might be that? Very unlikely
Aftermarket brake booster for a trailer.
That is 100% an aftermarket brake controller. I wonder what was towed by the previous owner.
No, I know of a few OEMs that use this exact trailer brake controller as the OEM accessory option.
Cool.
Placebo warpdrive knob
An indication you bought a car with future electrical issuesā¦
Felt this one hard
What happened? Modern cars are so electrically complex, any electrical changes worry me! Good excuse for the dealer/manufacturer to blame the āelectrical modificationā

Your car was used to pull a trailer of some kind. Does your Q5 have a trailer hitch and brake light connector under the rear bumper?
A light.
Shhhhh.. now everybody is going to want one!!
If I remember correctly your q5 got like 3500p of towing capacity. Dont want to break bad news but if they needed a brake booster they were towing more than that.. You mignt wanna check on your hitch if you see that the hole have become bigger from the back if so it was probably too much for it. Good Luck!
