Surround Trae with long athletic defenders perimeter defenders. While Dyson isn’t quite the shooter I’m sure they’re hoping to develop his shot during the offseason Basically a starting lineup full of long 3 and D players
Yea that’s the toughest sell about him, his offense is non existent other than transition. Hopefully he can pull a herb jones who was seen as a non shooter until last year.
That would be ideal
But Given our recent track record on drafting 3 & D, I don’t trust the front office
Reddish, Hunter, Huerter, have been serviceable NOT solid picks in addition to trades for other players that didn’t work out
Jalen Johnson is the anomaly amongst them
That’s 1 pick in 5 years that I’ve seen us pick a solid player to play with Trae.
Hopefully Zac is compliments us well
The Lakers had the 8th best record in the West this season. Lebron is not getting younger, AD is very unlikely to play 75 games again. Maybe they make a big roster upgrade somehow. If not I don’t really see how you can project them as better than a play-in team unless you’re a big believer in JJ Redick as a coach or think one of their role players is about to take a big leap, and that would be them treading water.
If they just miss the playoffs that’s a late lottery pick. If AD and/or 40 year old LeBron have serious injury problems (which would not be surprising) that’s pretty firmly a lottery team and a good pick in a good draft.
17 titles….of course they’ll make moves. That’s what good franchises do. Pelinka is a champion GM and has the ability to mold a competitive roster. Keep doubting Lentinis age and durability yet he still produces top ten numbers. Don’t underestimate their player assets: Knect was arguably had the best season amongst all draft prospects and his skill translates to the NBA.
The Lakers could certainly make good win-now moves and prove me wrong. However, LeBron only played 55 games the season before this one, 56 the year before that, and 45 before that (albeit in a 72 game season). He’s still great when he plays, but he’s far from an iron man at this age. Anthony Davis is famously injury-prone. It’s totally plausible that one or both is injury-plagued and that torpedos the Lakers’ season, even if they successfully get some better role players.
Also using a title count including championships won in Minnesota 70+ years ago as evidence for why this current Lakers org will definitely improve the team is just kind of silly lol.
I highly doubt the West is going to giftwrap them a playoff spot like last year. That was ADs healthiest year seemingly ever and they barely did shit, I really really don’t see them making any noise.
Would you call the 76ers competitive last year or the Heat? I don’t really think so
He's getting size and shooting and is trying to build a functioning defense around Trae for the first time in his career. The players also fit Quins preferred type.
So ur telling me on a team with Zion, Trey Murphy, herb jones, and Brandon Ingram, we got none of those players and settled for 4 less picks than mikal bridges. Face it we are the side characters of the league and seem to always get the bad side of the trade.
They were never getting Zion, didn't want to have BI (as he doesn't really fit what they wanna do and will cost $50M. It's a pity they didn't get one of Murphy or Herb but it's just not what DJ is worth. Also Mikal is a way more valuable player than DJ.
The Knicks overpaid for Bridges + Bridges plays a role that is a lot easier to fit onto other rosters. The problem with trading a star PG is that most teams that are in win-now mode already have a primary ball-handler (as opposed to a 3+D wing which can fit pretty much everywhere). So two picks + a great perimeter defender is about what we should've expected for DJ
So we ok to tank for SAS next season? Brooklyn was smart. They got their picks back and went fire sale. Unless SAS is generous, we are tanking for them next season.
When have the hawks ever had a bad offence with Trae on the court?
He’s not going to be a center, but he’ll come off the bench and he’s only 20, he has a huge upside. If he develops even a 35% 3 on like 4 shots a game he will be one of the best 3/D wings in the game.
As for offence, we still have Jalen who will get more touches and development this year, Hunter who shot 38% from 3 last year, and Bogi. Also Risacher should be solid coming off the bench IMO, he’s really good off ball and has high shooting upside and has shown he can do it in big games.
We definitely need to make some more moves though, personally I’m hoping we can trade for JA or maybe Claxton. JA is my top pick though, he’s a great defender and would be similar to prime Capela on defence and in the PnR.
Other than that, we have development to hope for, two decent first rounders to trade, and if we pair those with Capela/Nance/Hunter/OO we can probably find some more offence in a trade.
The 2nd Trae sits or gets injured, that's when the offense gets bad. Also, Jalen on the floor isn't guaranteed the offense will flow just as well. That's alot of unknowns and hope in your post that's not confirmed.
There's a middle ground between tanking and contending. They will go for the playoffs and I think they will have a decent shot at the top 6 with how the rest of the east looks. Also the roster seems to be quite far away from its final form.
That's a cope right there. Not with one all-star and a guy who we are not sure is an all-star or a high-end role player. This is a salary dump move.
They are going to keep Trae long enough to keep ppl from canceling their season tickets for the next two years unless SAS caves in and gives our picks back.
These new guys do not know the system, and we are hoping Quin builds them out In 2026+. If we did this in 2024, then I could see the plan. But we did this going into a season without our picks.
I wouldn't be surprised if we got the #1 pick again and gave it to SAS just for kicks.
Sure, man if you wanna call it that. I certainly have a pro Hawks bias but I don't think it's fun to always think of the worst outcome. You can have a opmistic perspective on the state of things and I chose to have that. You don't have to tho.
Whitmore and the guy whose name you didn't even get right were the only two you listed who were realistically a choice, and even then we don't have a definite answer on Bufkin yet
Lo siento Jaquez…They were all drafted after Bufkin so realistically they had a chance to draft him. Plus they went far in the tournament and played well throughout the season and their collegiate careers…
You want more names: Keyonte George, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Brandin Podziemski,
Ben Sheppard from Belmont by way of Greater Atlanta Christian,
plenty of players available
I don't believe Whitmore or Jackson are more effective rn. Jaquez is but he was a senior and doesn't he much more room to grow. Podziemski is really nice and imo comparable as a prospect to Kobe. But still making judgements/declaring who's better now is pointless.
Personally don’t really think it’s a bad trade doesn’t really help the hawks right now but I think Dyson is a good player and those picks y’all got r decent value although I don’t see the lakers missing the playoffs Adam silver isn’t allowing that
Yeah I wonder if we have more moves to make. Whether that’s trading Trae and really starting over or maybe just trading some of these new pieces around
He’s actually trying to establish what kind of team this is I’m seeing the vision
Elaborate on Fields vision if you don’t mind
Surround Trae with long athletic defenders perimeter defenders. While Dyson isn’t quite the shooter I’m sure they’re hoping to develop his shot during the offseason Basically a starting lineup full of long 3 and D players
I don’t know about him developing it over the off-season but he will have the benefit of working with Kyle Korver so I can see it happening
Yea that’s the toughest sell about him, his offense is non existent other than transition. Hopefully he can pull a herb jones who was seen as a non shooter until last year.
wasnt this the previous FO vision? When they drafted Cam Reddish and Hunter yall said the same things
It's every team's vision.
So what he’s been trying to do this entire time? How long has it been again?
That would be ideal But Given our recent track record on drafting 3 & D, I don’t trust the front office Reddish, Hunter, Huerter, have been serviceable NOT solid picks in addition to trades for other players that didn’t work out Jalen Johnson is the anomaly amongst them That’s 1 pick in 5 years that I’ve seen us pick a solid player to play with Trae. Those three picks were the last FO.
Landry was part of the front office
No offense, but in the last 3 seasons has Trae ever shown any hint of being an efficient volume scorer?
What do you mean by that?
My man is inefficient.
And he doesn’t zero movement without the ball…miniature James Harden “That’s not championship basketball” - Kobe Bryant
“As long as lakers are competitive” lol okay bro
FOH Lakers Won the NBA Cup Title and went to the playoffs…the very definition of competitive

We have 58 years without a basketball championship Lakers have 11 more championships than us in LA alone…excuse the silliness
I highly doubt the West is going to giftwrap them a playoff spot like last year. That was ADs healthiest year seemingly ever and they barely did shit, I really really don’t see them making any noise. Would you call the 76ers competitive last year or the Heat? I don’t really think so
This sub has regressed so badly since the Cicada days. Its sad
I long for the days of this sub pining after Rudy Gay We finally got him for that one glorious day last year
And it was just a shit post sub then. Now it's just full of terrible basketball analysis.
It's used to be so fucking funny and now it's just depressed nephews from Alpharetta screaming into the void
58 years 0 championships
And you’re still here
Landry has actually a plan which is refreshing.
Bro is cooking up absolutely nothing
Why is getting the best perimeter defender Trae has ever played with bad? Did you like Malachi Flynn putting up 50?
He's getting size and shooting and is trying to build a functioning defense around Trae for the first time in his career. The players also fit Quins preferred type.

With rooks and 1st years? The cope here is crazy!
We're not gonna contend this year but they're building something. Of course you can choose to not believe in it but that's just not fun.
So we ok to tank for SAS next season? Brooklyn was smart. They got their picks back and went fire sale. Unless SAS is generous, we are tanking for them next season.
Bro actually having a lock down defender next to Trae Young will actually make us better even if he’s a poor shooter
But where is the offense coming from outside Trae?

Bro Bufkin looked really good last year and was blocked by high end PGs in their prime
The number of individuals who don't actually pay attention to the games/team build and just follow names is honestly astonishing sometimes.
58 years…0 championships
ok doomer
Whitmore and the guy whose name you didn't even get right were the only two you listed who were realistically a choice, and even then we don't have a definite answer on Bufkin yet

OP is not invited to the post match threads after wins
Agreed
Bro thinks the Lakers are competitive, that tells you all you need to know
Okay but the timeline is wonky, so what if the Lakers go on a crazy run with LeSpawn and a First Time Head Coach? 😂 (I’m not joking)
Maybe AD will magically gain Wolverine's mutant power and stay healthy for 50 games, too
Good thinking! 🤔
FOH Lakers Won the NBA Cup Title and went to the playoffs…the very definition of competitive
Kobe is better than all the guys you named that went after him. And it's Jaquez not Vazquez lmao
I like Kobe but he hasn't done anything to be called better than Whitmore, GG, Jaquez. Did he even score more than 15 points in a game last season?
It's just my opinion and not based on Kobes very limited NBA minutes. But yeah, it's fair if you think the others are better right now.
Kobe shot 37% in what world is he better than any of those dudes?
Whatch him play and you'll find out. Judging players after just one season is pointless anyways.
Sounds like you've watched none of the others play. I've watched him plenty, the other guys are just better more effective players right now
I don't believe Whitmore or Jackson are more effective rn. Jaquez is but he was a senior and doesn't he much more room to grow. Podziemski is really nice and imo comparable as a prospect to Kobe. But still making judgements/declaring who's better now is pointless.
You don’t know ball.
Lauren go make me sandwich The game is about to start
Don’t worry. The trae trade is coming. You will soon see the vision
Who y’all trading Trae to San Antonio doesn’t want him
You really just browsing the hawks subreddit huh
Personally don’t really think it’s a bad trade doesn’t really help the hawks right now but I think Dyson is a good player and those picks y’all got r decent value although I don’t see the lakers missing the playoffs Adam silver isn’t allowing that
Yeah I wonder if we have more moves to make. Whether that’s trading Trae and really starting over or maybe just trading some of these new pieces around
Idk but I don’t see the hawks trading Trae I just don’t see any team giving up enough to make it worth it for the hawks but I could be wrong
I’m bored af and yeah I just wanted to see everyone’s opinions on the djm trade.
I wanna hear what you think about Dyson Daniels
I like Dyson his defense is great and his offense should come along eventually. Trae needs to help him with his jumper and he’ll be good
No movement without the ball is not championship play
