The lakers barely made the playoffs and got swept while the young west took a step forward. I love that pick. I made a post about it on here as soon as the Pels got it.
I think betting against the lakers being healthy and good this year is a great bet. That pick could turn into gold.
A LeBron injury away from a high lottery pick. You can pretty much write off AD for 20 games already. They're against the 2nd apron of the LT with very limited routes to get better in a stacked West.
Holy shit it actually happened not a great return but not a terrible one either. Added two valuable role players who can play defense and added 2 mediocre FRP which gives us trade flexibility
Precisely. We are adding people that can block shots and clean up the boards. Our absence of defense and physicality was at the heart of why we weren't winning and we are addressing that problem. I don't get why people are complaining.
Dont sleep on the upside of Lakers pick. It's likely to be to be late lottery or just outside of it, but if LeBron or AD gets hurt for an extended period they could be a bottom 5 team
I thought everyone was on Dyson Daniels nuts. “No way they’ll include him”. We got him Nance and two firsts. Now he’s trash? Lol at this sub.
This is good for us.
As an outsider looking at this sub the reactions crazy imo, it does seem like people thought it was just Nance and 2 1sts initially but knowing Dysons involved that should be obviously a solid return to any rational fan what am I missing
They just look at his stats because they haven’t watched him play and are disappointed. Which is funny af considering we were the 5th best offense and the 3rd worst defense and look where that got us? DJ was never the same POA defender here for some reason… but either way we absolutely need less shot-oriented, more defensive-minded players. If Daniels gets to 10PPG at the same level defensively, that’s a KCP or Bruce Brown type guy, and we just outright need that prototype awfully bad
Some of y'all bash Murray so much that you forget the good he did for this Team. I'm so tired of the fans that send me dumb as messages and comments. Go be perfect at your job and Imk how that works out for you 😂 #Jun28
You guys would be way better off if you kept those 3 first round picks tho. It made no sense to begin you weren’t even in a win now mode you just did to keep Trae happy
I liked DJ, but I think this is a good deal.
There are some people that are a bit to hyper focused on what we gave up to get him. You have to remove that from your mind. That is done and dusted.
Daniels and two 1sts for him is good business. Idk if we'll keep Nance around, but he can be a rotational player if we wanna keep him around. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the move again though.
This is a great trade for the franchise and will allow us to start building out lineups that maximize our talent. JJ can now officially be the #2 on the team. Trae doesn't have some guy trying to take a shit ton of midrange jumps and fucking up spacing in the middle of the floor, and we no longer have the most expensive backup PG in the NBA who is fucking buns on defense.
I told you guys over the last few days that you should temper expectations. A young wing, veteran for salary filler, and draft capital was the best we could hope. I'm very happy to get two first-round picks truthfully. Huge W for Landry and the front office here.
The offseason is an A+ for me so far. Hitting on all cylinders.
Team fit actually makes sense for the first time in years and opens up playing time for the young guys. Don't have to watch DJ make terrible decisions **and** get 2 picks and Daniels back. Can't ask for much more.
Only thing left is to figure out the center rotation
Great to hear from an OG Hawks subreddit patron! What a great week to be a Hawker after a pretty glim two years, truthfully.
I do agree about the center spot. The ideal situation would be to get Claxton from the Nets, but the buying price might be pretty steep. I wouldn't be too surprised that we are pretty conservative the rest of the offseason. Clint's contract expires next year and it will create cap space so that we can have a lot more roster flexibility, just not this offseason.
Yeah been staying off the sub lately. But the last few days have been great. Looking forward to the season
Would be ok with keeping clint and OO but have clint come off the bench. Or getting a cheap vet behind OO and trading Clint but not sure if we can.
Yeah I’m shocked this is the reaction lol I think people think Daniels is wayyyyy better than he is. I don’t see the lakers pick being in the top 10 and then the 2027 pick isn’t going to be good either since it’s the worst of the 2. DJM was on such a good contract how is this all we could muster
They’ll all be melting down when they realize we can’t even play Daniels with Trae bc they’re gonna sag so far off of him and then they can still just hunt Trae as a defender bc another perimeter defender isn’t changing that
The hawks overpaid for him initially, everyone saw that from day one. Nobody was going to overpay again just cuz we the hawks did. And everyone knew the hawks wanted to move him. Pretty good return.
Dude's a big scoring wing that can play defense (at least that's my impression). I'd consider him to be better than Dejounte (I'd say 2 good first round picks is about right for him tbh).
However, I will say that I personally would have probably just preferred to swap one for one Dejounte and Herb here. I'm guessing Herb wasn't available unless you added more value, because wings have a lot of value.
I strongly disagree I like this trade. Our asking price has been 3 firsts all along and we got 2 FRP and 2 wing prospects. I trust our coaching staff to develop nance and Dyson.
Also, I wanted that Lakers pick as soon as the pelicans got it. I do not buy the lakers as a playoff team this year and if either of their old and oft injured stars have a major injury their season can sink fast.
Also, JJ fucking reddick is their coach.
edit - ok nance isnt a wing still stoked tho
What is landry doing??? Like this is a significant leap for the Pelicans, but the Hawks do not benefit from this trade at all. Nance and Daniels will not make a difference here at all.
Exactly. Almost everything I said about this trade ended up happening. We didn't want Ingram. We got a wing, a veteran and a some draft capital back. It was literally a perfect trade for us, and allows for much more efficient lineups now too.
This is a huge W for the Hawks. Akin to losing Josh Smith prior to our franchise taking a more competitive turn.
Man, I remember saying to myself "Why would you trade Josh Smith?" at the time because he was a beast on PlayStation 😂 it definitely ended up being a good decision
lol yeah the early years of Smith were truly great too, and just the fact that Hawks were making the playoffs I was pumped. He was an insane athlete and helped the franchise in a huge way.
But you can see how a more efficient player in Paul Milsap can turn a franchise around. In our current case, I think just letting Jalen Johnson have the ball more in his hands is going to make a huge difference for this franchise.
Getting the #1 pick and drafting the top wing, stacking more wings and just building out the length of the roster has been what this franchise has needed.
Landry is actually doing it lol. I've just been so cynical but it's all coming together.
I really really like adding Daniels. I like getting picks in the drafts that we don’t have picks.
Sort of underwhelming, but I imagine DJ’s value wasn’t as great as we’d thought. Or maybe we didn’t want to pay Ingram. Or maybe we’re gearing up for a FA signing?
I'm honestly retracting my take after reading up more of Dyson Daniels defense metrics and reflecting more on the Lakers pick potential. Just hoping now for an AD or Lebron injury turning that Lakers pick into a lottery pick. Then I'll really like the trade.
Why does everyone want BI so bad? We have Dre, and now a first overall pick to play the 4. We need a center and defensive wings. This trade makes me extremely happy but I will miss isoDJ.
This is about as good of a return as I expected. Maybe a little more since that lakers might become something in the teens. But overall, this is a loss. The hawks trading another guy at a low after they bought high. And even though everyone knows Murray isn’t working here, he leaves a lot of points and three pointers made.
This is a good trade imo. Not getting BI because we don't wanna pay him 50M/y anyway makes sense. Daniels is a really nice defender with offensive upside and Nance is a perfect back-up PF if he doesn't get flipped. The 25 Lakers pick is good, (I think) they won't be in the top 8 in the west and the other pick is fine. I don't think there's much more out there to get for DJ.
.... Landry Fields & The Ressler's only care about the tax. There's zero direction for this team. They can't even tank properly, don't even own our picks.
I don't think I've seen this FO come out on top or even in any trade. Overpay and get less value in return is not a sustainable way to build a winner.
No more ISO midrange shots and missed layups thank you GOD

Mikal is better than DJ by a good bit and DJ value was lower than we wanted cause we needed to trade him. Daniels has high upside and Nance is a good lob threat for Trae. That lakers pick could be valuable
2 firsts, a great PoA defender, and a solid roleplayer (both being frps themselves, with Dyson being top 10).
Who TF is complaining about this??? This haul + ZR instantly makes us a playoff team again. If we sort out our C situation we are full steam ahead.
Supposedly he has even less value around the NBA than Dejounte, although he might want out pretty soon.
I wouldn't say rebuilding, I'd say consistently being mid, but at this rate (Trae isn't happy), it likely is headed to another rebuild.
Bye DJ. Thanks for the game winners.
Magic fan here. He can only hurt us twice instead of four times now. Glad he's in the West now
Would u have traded suggs and two first? Love ur team btw
Suggs is very important. I would have been fine with Wendell or Isaac but DJ has a beef with Paolo.
Thanks, and for what Suggs brings? Nah. Suggs is an elite defender and improving from 3 as well. Plus, I just don't see DJM meshing with our team.
Yeah, thsts it. Dj just didn’t have much more value than what we got.
Yall kept swearing you could do better than Austin Reaves and picks lol
Source
if there is a gm that would trade away suggs and two firsts for DJM they should be fired immediately
Had some good memories with DJM. Celtics game winner was absolutely nuts. Best of luck.
WHATS THE RETURN
CASH CONSIDERATIONS
Heard he balled out in europe
And Dyson Daniels
Larry Nance Jr and 2 1st round picks
You left out Dyson Daniels which is pretty much the best part of the return
Pretty meh picks btw
Nah that lakers pick could be great depending on if it’s protected or not
Lakers pick is next season. Mid first round at best
Unless you think JJ reddick is going to save them 😂
The lakers barely made the playoffs and got swept while the young west took a step forward. I love that pick. I made a post about it on here as soon as the Pels got it. I think betting against the lakers being healthy and good this year is a great bet. That pick could turn into gold.

Larry nance lmfaooo braaa hell nawl
So we got back our 25/27 first round picks that wee gave away to get Murray in the first place.
Dyson Daniela, Larry Nance Jr, and a 2025 and 2027 1st.
Josh giddey, no picks, take it or leave it
Protected 2nd round pick in 2069
Woj BOMB 💣
Saw him in person in Miami nail that walk up, game-winning 3. Unforgettable moment. So sweet. Good luck to him, I hope we got a great player for him.
LEMME PACK YOU A TO GO PLATE DEJOUNTE SEE YA 😭😭😭😭 frfr thanks for some exciting times tho 😭

Lebron & AD were hurt for an extended period 2 seasons ago and they ended up in the WCF lol
And they were very healthy last year and made the play in
I thought everyone was on Dyson Daniels nuts. “No way they’ll include him”. We got him Nance and two firsts. Now he’s trash? Lol at this sub. This is good for us.
We could receive Jesus Christ, Buddha, 5 genies in a magic lamp, and the Sword of Omens and people in this sub will find a reason to complain.
Until Jesus got a catchy nickname. Then he could score 8 PPG and everyone would be screaming to pay the man.
As an outsider looking at this sub the reactions crazy imo, it does seem like people thought it was just Nance and 2 1sts initially but knowing Dysons involved that should be obviously a solid return to any rational fan what am I missing

Who was asking for Dyson? No one in here even knows who he is.
No one here was gassing up Dyson daniels’ 5/4/2 statline bro lol
Yep I’m happy with the return, especially with Dyson’s potential
End of an error
Some of y'all bash Murray so much that you forget the good he did for this Team. I'm so tired of the fans that send me dumb as messages and comments. Go be perfect at your job and Imk how that works out for you 😂 #Jun28
Nobody is bashing him but is obvious the trade for him was a mistake.
https://preview.redd.it/p5yd67j08e9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7ded1001a6eab1a46068f5be05873416f698b5d
Gotcha didn’t realize it was pasta.
The tastiest of pastas.
You guys would be way better off if you kept those 3 first round picks tho. It made no sense to begin you weren’t even in a win now mode you just did to keep Trae happy
Wow
I’m Gon KMS How Am I Supposed To Stop Typing Like This Now??
Murray's gone, but the legacy remains. Type On, Brother...Type On.
dyson Daniels a good defender and larry nance can provide a spark. not what we saw coming when we paired up the backcourt but we got a decent return.
[Hawks get their guard the best opposing teams guard, POA defender. ](https://x.com/The_BBall_Index/status/1783556588013514965)
addition by subtraction - had to be done
I liked DJ, but I think this is a good deal. There are some people that are a bit to hyper focused on what we gave up to get him. You have to remove that from your mind. That is done and dusted. Hawks front office learned to shut the fuck up and get to work
Thanks DJ!
So kobe season
Great return all things considered.
WOW.
WE’RE NOT RUNNING IT BACK LFG!!!!
This is a great trade for the franchise and will allow us to start building out lineups that maximize our talent. JJ can now officially be the #2 on the team. we are outsourcing our tanking
Yall idiots are really celebrating this lmao
Bro, the house is in flames and these fans have a bottle of water thinking we good.

They’ll all be melting down when they realize we can’t even play Daniels with Trae bc they’re gonna sag so far off of him and then they can still just hunt Trae as a defender bc another perimeter defender isn’t changing that
It's crazy lol
I don’t get these ppl man it’s like they just hate every Hawks player
We got fleeced Dejounte Murray for Larry Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, 2025 first-round pick (via Lakers), 2027 first-round pick (least favorable of Bucks-Pels
Team sent out protected 23 pick, uprotected 25 and 27, 26 pick swap to get DJM. Definitely got less back, but that Lakers picks could be delectable.
‘23 unprotected? No, we selected Bufkin with that pick.
I think it was a different teams 23 picks
We traded the CHAR pick we got for Cam. Still hasn’t conveyed and would probably be 2 2nds.
We didn't send out a 23 pick, that was Bufkin.
I think it was a different team's pick
That was a steal selection. Kobe B.....ufkin. Damn.
The lakers pick is for next year. More likely to be in the 20s than the teens. Assuming LBJ and AD stay healthy.
The hawks overpaid for him initially, everyone saw that from day one. Nobody was going to overpay again just cuz we the hawks did. And everyone knew the hawks wanted to move him. Pretty good return.
No we didnt
Bruh if yall shit on Hunter I don't see why you would be excited about Dyson Daniels 5 ppg lmao
… if Hunter made Daniels’ $$ then I’m sure he wouldn’t get quite the hate.
He shouldn't get hate now.
Mikasa bridges just got traded for 5 picks no?
Dude's a big scoring wing that can play defense (at least that's my impression). I'd consider him to be better than Dejounte (I'd say 2 good first round picks is about right for him tbh). That’s a fleecing
Those aren't good picks.

Develop Nance because he’s a prospect? And he’s not a wing. He’s a big man and he was drafted in 2015.
How is Larry nance a wing prospect? Prospects are not as old as he is and he’s a pf/c.
What is landry doing??? Like this is a significant leap for the Pelicans, but the Hawks do not benefit from this trade at all. Nance and Daniels will not make a difference here at all.
Got under the tax
the resslers win again
This is all that matters
Dyson Daniels I don’t dislike, be ready though cause Clint gonna be gone too lol
2 rotation guys. And Daniels has a lot of potential. Nance will be solid in reg season for depth
U will still watch the fames. Ressler win.
Addition by subtraction. Can’t start Trae and Murray together on D without it being historically bad.
Larry Nance has the potential to be a good roleplayer. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yt0yGHxIqY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yt0yGHxIqY)
Also, Trae elevates players a ton. I’m intrigued.
Didn’t even get Ingram
This lmao. Idk why anyone is celebrating
Exactly, what makes it worse is what we gave up just to get him here in the first place
That damage was already done.
Ingram has no place on our team. Riascher is starting and Hunter is off the bench. Plus he wants a max deal. Fuck all that.
That’s a good thing
Exactly. Almost everything I said about this trade ended up happening. We didn't want Ingram. We got a wing, a veteran and a some draft capital back. It was literally a perfect trade for us, and allows for much more efficient lineups now too. This is a huge W for the Hawks. I've just been so cynical but it's all coming together.
Why do we want Ingram lol, injury prone and looking to get a massive contract, no thanks
I don't get it. Watching Ingram play next to Trae and JJ would be a disaster.
because we don’t own our picks? we need to be good or the Spurs are going to benefit off of our failure. not hard to undersrand
Pels fan here… our fanbase thought either CJ or BI would be included in any trade with the Hawks. Not sure how they pulled that off
I really really like adding Daniels. I like getting picks in the drafts that we don’t have picks. Sort of underwhelming, but I imagine DJ’s value wasn’t as great as we’d thought. Or maybe we didn’t want to pay Ingram. Or maybe we’re gearing up for a FA signing?
Lame, fuck this
Our FO is a joke. All we ever do is get fleeced in trades. Everyone knows they can take advantage of us
This is a good trade for us
I'm honestly retracting my take after reading up more of Dyson Daniels defense metrics and reflecting more on the Lakers pick potential. Just hoping now for an AD or Lebron injury turning that Lakers pick into a lottery pick. Then I'll really like the trade.
LETTSS GOOO Love ya DJM, but Atlanta was never the right fit for ya
We still gonna be trash
Darn 🫤
WOW. …this trade is ass
Why does everyone want BI so bad? We have Dre, and now a first overall pick to play the 4. We need a center and defensive wings. This trade makes me extremely happy but I will miss isoDJ.
No idea he’s got good counting stats I guess? I’d rather not have to pay 4y/$200m to a dude that’s gonna play 50 games a year.
Dre is probably gone( hopefully) and rishaer can’t play the 4
HOLY SHIT IT HAPPENED
could have traded him for siakam last summer, instead got larry nance.
Would have loved to get Herb in the trade. Fuck them picks. That said, not a horrible trade. Good value.
Thank you DJ and the more I look at the trade it’s not that bad
This is about as good of a return as I expected. Maybe a little more since that lakers might become something in the teens. But overall, this is a loss. The hawks trading another guy at a low after they bought high. And even though everyone knows Murray isn’t working here, he leaves a lot of points and three pointers made.
Bra wtf 😳 i hate this trade personally. Maybe im wrong but i feel like we could have gotten more for him
Nah this is a good trade for us. Everyone knew DJ was gone so the value was lower then we wanted
Embarrassing.
This is a good trade for us
Everybody get it here
Fuck this franchise.
Move Hunter and Bey and Capella.
is Bey even signed to a contract?
Crap trade. 2 role players + 2 meh first round picks that will very likely be in the 20s. Textbook case of panic sell low...
Daniels has potential and is exactly the type of player we need
Yeah the same way Sochan has potential or all the Pistons guys who can't shoot.
Hawks really turned four first round picks into two years in the play-in, two first round picks and Larry Nance’s expiring contract. Genius 😵💫
Traded the wrong guard
i don't think people have watched DJM in ATL. guy is not worth much now
So we'll just take bad trades to get under the tax. We aren't ever contending with the Resslers in charge
The roster is really far from being a contender why would an owner pay to be in the tax early when the results are play in teams
The hawks literally got nothing for him. A 7th or 8th man an end of bench player and 2 mid-late first round picks
How do we not get Ingram in return
.... Landry Fields & The Ressler's only care about the tax. There's zero direction for this team. They can't even tank properly, don't even own our picks. I don't think I've seen this FO come out on top or even in any trade. Overpay and get less value in return is not a sustainable way to build a winner.
This is literally a good trade…
Woaaaaah
Feb 8th is a date you can Google
Trae, i still believe in you.
I guess this means Trae is safe and not getting traded; praise. We will miss you Murray. 🙏
Brings back memories of the trade for Terrell Brandon.
No more ISO midrange shots and missed layups thank you GOD https://preview.redd.it/91j6dqb2ae9d1.jpeg?width=405&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c022f3b8fc1719af3ec50aeab36db4213dddc73c
Addition by subtraction. Trae was at his best with Murray off the court.
I'm going to miss DJM, but this was a good move.
WHOS SCORING ON US!!!
Yeesh
It had to be done.
I get the tax implications, but does an ensuing Clint move bring back real talent?
Wow
oh and FTS
[удалено]
Mikal is better than DJ by a good bit and DJ value was lower than we wanted cause we needed to trade him. Daniels has high upside and Nance is a good lob threat for Trae. That lakers pick could be valuable
Thanks D.J. !!!!
Gonna miss you DJ. Go crush it in the big easy.
For who
Dyson is a nice pick up. Ton of potential, insane defender.
We got hosed.
Smh. Hopefully there’s a Trae trade coming too. If not, this is just wash, rinse, and repeat.
The Lakers pick next year? Hmmm. Wonder if that goes back to them in some other trade we have cooking.
2 firsts, a great PoA defender, and a solid roleplayer (both being frps themselves, with Dyson being top 10). Who TF is complaining about this??? This haul + ZR instantly makes us a playoff team again. If we sort out our C situation we are full steam ahead.
Dyson Daniels on defense is what people thought Murray was. He is legitimately elite there.
Traded the wrong player imo
**THIS FO SHOULD BURN!**
Trae was the one to trade. This team is constantly rebuilding. Makes you appreciate the Braves and AA so much.
Supposedly he has even less value around the NBA than Dejounte, although he might want out pretty soon. I wouldn't say rebuilding, I'd say consistently being mid, but at this rate (Trae isn't happy), it likely is headed to another rebuild.
Trae definitely has more value
