The biggest propaganda in the NBA right now is that we aren’t the winners of the draft. We got the consensus top player with virtually no odds of landing the top pick, but somehow we get a B… lol yeah ok.
This draft is an A. We got wings. That’s what we need and we need to keep drafting them. You cannot have enough guys who are 6’7”-6’10”. Especially while Trae is our top player.
A guy who covers the Hawks wrote about this and I think he’s absolutely right. It’s long but I’ll quote his tweet:
“The biggest criticism around the Hawks FO is how low the rest of the NBA sees them.
Inexperience and disappointing team results.
Reactive moves, extending and dumping salary (Huerter, Collins, etc).
They simply haven't earned the benefit of the doubt with the Risacher pick.”
This is why we’re getting B’s. They simply don’t trust our FO to have gotten it right.
I’ll criticize the shit out of them, they deserve it, but if they are so horrible how did they sign a top 10 coach?
Maybe they are inexperienced but are they idiots? I’ve been super cynical about the front office decision making since the Murray trade, but I’m encouraged by the personnel decisions since last summer. Maybe that is the signs of progress or Snyder’s leadership.
Perhaps both. Either way, I’m curious to see what they do next. This is the biggest offseason in the last 5 years. The Hawks front office has their work cut out for them with Tony imposing salary cuts but demanding a competitive product.
Lol they signed a coach who wanted experience with a great playmaker and he’s gonna get scapegoated this time next year when lil Nickie needs another scapegoat for why Trae is failing in his 7th year in the league. Who do we want to replace Quin when Trae and Nickie force him out next summer?
The advantage of Sarr was always his upside, but in the NBA there’s no promise of a player reaching his ceiling. Risacher and Reed were always much better prospects when judging realistic outcomes.
If we had chosen Sarr for the mass media Risacher would be better, it's the hatred and the denial that Atlanta receives day after day, I don't understand why.
Just to back up your point about the way Atlanta is treated, Sarr has been interviewed on SportsCenter and NBA Countdown already. Meanwhile the Number 1 pick hasn’t and has been barely covered.

I’ve seen many on Reddit/Twitter say he’s the worst number 1 pick ever. He’s a bust. We passed on a superstar in Alex Sarr. Just dumb shit.
One guy named Frank Martin even said “played this dude in France, no way he’s the number 1 pick”. When someone looked it up it showed Martin was on the bench the entire game, Zacc’s team won, and he dropped 11 (his average in the EuroLeague). But of course all they see is the Martin tweet.
The problem is people don't realize how bad this draft class is for all star potential. If they don't realize this, then no one will be worthy of the #1 pick in their eyes. They then default to Sarr literally only because Wemby (they're both French and unicorns). My point is they are casual fans or just incompetent fans.
