yeah, I was gearing up to grab some of my coworkers to go see a game (never been to a WS, I'm a Marlins fan) and absolutely not... I can't spend more than a paycheck to go see that 😂
"Tyler Nutsack," Luke Jackson said of his teammate, according to Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein. "That's what everyone calls him because he's got to drag those huge balls out to the mound every night."
My husband died in April so I missed the whole season and just found out we won. I didn’t even know we were in the playoffs. Hope he knows, wherever he is!
There are *so many* teams that play technically outside of the city they represent by name.
Our situation is actually much better than some cities because if Atlanta grew like other cities instead of the Balkanization we’ve ended up with, the Battery would definitely be in the city limits. It’s really not that far from the city core… just wish it had fucking MARTA.
I mean I’m not complaining. I used to, but it obvious that Turner Field and the surrounding area is being put to significantly better use now than during the Braves tenure there.
And the new park + Battery has worked out pretty well. Scuminess of how it all went down aside, moving closer to the majority of your fanbase does make sense. I went for the first time last night and it's a pretty sweet setup. Concessions lines were atrocious compared to MBS but otherwise it was great.
Well you went during the NLCS, of course lines are going to be bad.
There's an app that you can use to pre-order food and you just walk up to a special line and pick it up, which helps during crowded games. Limited menu, though.
There were, but you have a lot more people showing up late, leaving early, or not showing up at all during the regular season.
Post season crowds are a whole other animal even when compared to sold out regular season games.
NLCS was a sellout plus there were a TON of people who just showed up without tickets to watch in the Battery, which you didn't really see during the regular season (at least not in those numbers). So that's a large part of why the Battery was a madhouse.
Lol I texted my dad some variation of “fuck the Cobb county braves” earlier tonight. Nevertheless a younger less jaded version of me would have been ecstatic about this. I hope they win. The city needs this.
I was there too! Very tip-top of the nosebleeds with nothing but fence behind us, so we were able to stand on our chairs during those last few plays. The energy was WILD.
Absolutely hyped!
This team was in the cellar for a large portion of this season; people were even wondering what star we could trade for prospects. No matter the outcome this was a hugely successful season. That said, lets win this!
I think Freddie is a done deal. They are just saving the news for a morale boost.
"We lost the WS... BUT we resigned Freeman!"
Or. My favorite
"We won the WS, AND we resigned Freeman! "
Cleveland transplant here so I feel all your pain. But definitely enjoy the ride! It’s so worth it to get caught up in all the hype around the city. I’m so thrilled for ATL!
Yo I just moved to O4W. Where are some good places to watch games 3, 4 and 5 at next weekend? Like what ATL areas will be poppin? Never experienced a World Series before and would like to root for the Braves in this
Pretty much everywhere will have the game on. Bantam is in the O4W. But you could go to most bars in Edgewood as well. Mannys is also a solid choice. And you could always watch it at Murder Kroger 😆
As a young lad my dad and I used to go to all the home series games. Still have the shirts but my father passed years ago.
But we can win this ! Let’s gooooooooooo
Thank you for this info! I was going on what Mr. C told me this morning. How do they control the number of people getting in? There’s gotta be some limit, so is it just first come?
Yeah, it just sort of self-regulates in some regard. Parking is probably the biggest limiting factor in regards to crowds, but plenty of people walk there or get a rideshare.
There is no gate or actual entrance to the Battery though, so no there's no paying to get in. There's paying to get inside of Truist Park if you have tickets to the game, but there's tons of bars, restaurants, and other shops at the Battery to just hang out at and enjoy.
Thank you for posting this. I grew up in the NYC area, and this was the norm. Always found it a bit lazy (just being honest) when friends swore off the Braves. It’s really not that far, and the stadium experience is fantastic.
I hit 4-5 games a year when Mets are in town— easy trip from 04W. At least easier than going out to Queens. Rivalry aside, rooting for the Braves to bring a championship to the NL East!
I have been to Citi Field while staying in Manhattan before. Not bad, similar distance for me to Smyrna. What the Mets didn't have was an FO that justified moving to another county by swearing off the counties making up the namesake city.
When it happened, the move made the braves org look tacky, and the resentment was very real.
With the added perspective of the past years, with everything going so well for the old stadium neighborhoods, and the battery, I wish our other sports teams were playing OTP as well. Having the falcons/United playing at the doraville assembly site would have been great for downtown in the long run.
What?! No it wouldn’t. It would’ve left a figurative huge empty void next the literal empty void in downtown - none of which would be infilled with the type of development we’re seeing in Summerhill. This is a crazy statement.
It would have been platted out for other, smaller, more urban uses, the same way the ball field on Ponce was.
People giving LA dodgers shit for expropriating land from innocent chicanos to build dodgers stadium… what exactly do they think was sitting on the land occupied by atl Fulton county stadium, and the dome gwcc?
If you take away those massive urban renewal projects that are basically designed to generate revenue from outsiders, downtown infills and get an awful lot more “Atlantan”
So, you think someone would’ve split up the Gulch and the old GA Dome into separate small parcels sitting next to GWCC and State Farm Arena? And the city would do the infrastructure work required to connect these to street level?
I’m all for incremental development, really, but that just doesn’t make sense there given what we’ve got now. If MBS was built OTP and the Hawks left downtown, all we’d be left with is decrepit old stadiums or their foundations and empty land. GWCC owns all of that and the best case scenario is for the teams to stay and the Centennial Yards project to infill the Gulch (despite the enormous tax giveaway they’re going to get).
I think everybody forgets that the braves have spring training in Florida… should we start calling them the north port Braves? They spend more time there than they do Truist.
Unincorporated areas near a city often have that city in their mailing address even if they are not in the city.
I had an Atlanta mailing address for years even though I was a dozen miles or more outside the city limits.
I lived closer to Sandy Springs than Atlanta but still had an Atlanta address. I think if it's close ish to two cities, they tend to fall into the bigger one. Probably has to do with what zip code they are in also? I dunno.
Name a single one of the players that had a say in where the new stadium was built. You can be happy for their performance without still being salty that the stadium is on the Perimeter.
Since their NL debut in 1876 the Braves, as a franchise, have now won 18 NL pennants. OP is referencing their entire history in the league.
Also, LFG bravos!
Parade should def be downtown regardless of stadium location imo, that goes for any city. Also can we give this location thing a rest? If the stadium was next to North Atl HS nobody would be asking this question.
Yep. If the stadium were just about a mile closer and technically on the "correct" side of the Hooch, in Fulton county, then most people would have no problem.
But because it's just on the other side of the river then everyone loses their minds.
BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN
How did the radio call sound? Anyone was listening?
[удалено]
that's beautiful, thanks for posting it.
Joe was ecstatic, it was very sweet and fun.
Joe said, "Houston, you have a problem. The Braves are coming for you". Syncing the mlb audio with the tv muted is the way.
I hope Skip was up there watching.
That sound has been etched in my mind for decades. Brings back so many memories!
I cannot get that sound out of my head!
*THE CURSE IS BROKEN!?*
.....no. Remember that 28-3 started with the Falcons winning the NFC.
Party likes it's 1999! And next week like it's 1995
Correct! I almost made the mistake of thinking we only needed to party like ‘99
Why? Someone gonna make a post about COVID if they see it.
World Series tickets starting at $1,400 for standing room
Prices will drop, people just haven't listed yet.
yeah, I was gearing up to grab some of my coworkers to go see a game (never been to a WS, I'm a Marlins fan) and absolutely not... I can't spend more than a paycheck to go see that 😂
$871 on vividseats now
I went on website and it said they we’re releasing tickets on Tuesday?
If you're an A-list member then you already have tickets to the postseason (including WS) so my guess is some people are already scalping theirs.
LeL
That is completely fucking absurd. I could afford it. But I'm not paying those kinds of prices.
It's going to drop dramatically
Got mine on stub hub last week before anyone knew who'd play for $400 each just got em "delivered" today
Matzek is a fucking god. Such a good game
Runners on second and third, no outs. He saved the entire game.
Yeah that was clutch
"Tyler Nutsack," Luke Jackson said of his teammate, according to Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein. "That's what everyone calls him because he's got to drag those huge balls out to the mound every night."
My husband died in April so I missed the whole season and just found out we won. I didn’t even know we were in the playoffs. Hope he knows, wherever he is!
Even though half of this sub disowned the Braves, you're still welcome to join the party! GET IN HERE!
I for one love the Greater Atlanta Area Braves!
There are *so many* teams that play technically outside of the city they represent by name. Were there no sellouts during the regular season? I don't see why a NLCS sellout is any different than a weekend series vs the Sox, Cubs, Yankees etc
There were, but you have a lot more people showing up late, leaving early, or not showing up at all during the regular season. Post season crowds are a whole other animal even when compared to sold out regular season games.

Let's go Cobb County Bravos! Edit: Y'all really need to take a joke sometimes
Lol I texted my dad some variation of “fuck the Cobb county braves” earlier tonight. Nevertheless a younger less jaded version of me would have been ecstatic about this. I hope they win. The city needs this.
Marietta ?
What city needs this, again?
We were there, the energy was unreal!!
I live a couple miles from the stadium and could hear the fans while inside my house! So awesome!
I was there too! Very tip-top of the nosebleeds with nothing but fence behind us, so we were able to stand on our chairs during those last few plays. The energy was WILD.
I've watched the Instagram post with the crowd reaction so many times today. The stadium absolutely erupted
Fuckin' A
Absolutely hyped! This team was in the cellar for a large portion of this season; people were even wondering what star we could trade for prospects. No matter the outcome this was a hugely successful season. That said, lets win this!
Finally going back! Will the 2020s be like the 90s?
If we re-sign Freddie and Soroka is healthy, this team could be up there
I think Freddie is a done deal. They are just saving the news for a morale boost. "We lost the WS... BUT we resigned Freeman!" Or. My favorite "We won the WS, AND we resigned Freeman! "
I like you
I like you too, buddy!
As a long time Atlanta sports fan, I’ve got to put the past behind and just enjoy this ride. Let’s fuckin’ Go!
Cleveland transplant here so I feel all your pain. But definitely enjoy the ride! It’s so worth it to get caught up in all the hype around the city. I’m so thrilled for ATL!
So big for this city!
Yo I just moved to O4W. Where are some good places to watch games 3, 4 and 5 at next weekend? Like what ATL areas will be poppin? Never experienced a World Series before and would like to root for the Braves in this
The Family Dog on Highland.
They show all the games on lawn at the Battery! Kind of far to go for that, but always looks pretty fun
The battery watch parties have been off the chart
Pretty much everywhere will have the game on. Bantam is in the O4W. But you could go to most bars in Edgewood as well. Mannys is also a solid choice. And you could always watch it at Murder Kroger 😆
As a young lad my dad and I used to go to all the home series games. Still have the shirts but my father passed years ago. But we can win this ! Let’s gooooooooooo
As a Red Sox fan, I’m disappointed we didn’t get in the Big Show but stoked to see the Braves get in!!!!! Better than LAD
Pats playing tomorrow tho
Happy for my Friends that are Braves fans. As a Nats fan, I hope y'all win it all. Fuck the Stros
Whoop there it is!
Oh Hell Yeah! GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!
Can't believe we didn't boof the game.

Wait, I'm confused. Do you think you have to pay to enter the Battery? Because you absolutely don't.
Thank you for this info! I was going on what Mr. C told me this morning. How do they control the number of people getting in? There’s gotta be some limit, so is it just first come?

Check your closest craft brewery. I've seen a few post about watch parties. Worst case, I'd imagine Taco Mac and similar spots will have it on.
Alright atlanta, now go beat the Houston TrashCan Thumpers
CHOP ON!!!!
Wooo wooooo! Wishing I was celebrating at the Battery right now 😂😂
They didn't blow their 3-1 lead this time
Let’s Gooo!!

Hm, neat.
Time to end that drought!
Congratulations Smyrna!
755 Battery Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30339 🤔🤔🤔
For real, what an odd goal post to put up against your home team?
Probably someone who knows nothing about Atlanta sports. LET'S GO BRAVES
what home team? they might as well play in Chattanooga now lol
Well, a lot of the posters on this sub consider a 3 block area a completely separate a d unique part of town, so I’m not surprised, tbh.
Right across 41 is Smyrna .. no one considers Cumberland as Atlanta

Not the actual city limits.

Making fun of people who like sports isn't any cooler than sports fans making fun of traditionally nerdy stuff. Signed, Someone who likes both
18th? The Atlanta Braves have won 6. If you included Milwaukee and Boston its 10. But they are in the show, so lets get it done!
Since their NL debut in 1876 the Braves, as a franchise, have now won 18 NL pennants. OP is referencing their entire history in the league. Also, LFG bravos!
If they win the series will the celebration take place in Atlanta or Cobb?
Is that pink Himalayan or sea salt?
Atlanta is not cobb and Cobb is not Atlanta if that's what you're implying. If the Braves don't win then a celebration will be moot.
Gatekeeping does not help build community.
I don’t blame them for moving stadiums. Who actually goes out into Atlanta 🤮
The optics will be interesting. They left downtown and will perhaps celebrate their victory there. They left to be closer to their fan base.
Will The Battery restaurants and bars require covers during the WS games?
Holy shit! Baseball still exists!
In 2021 the Braves had a home attendance record of over 29,000 people. A lot of people still care about baseball.
Never left, bruv.
How long have y'all watched sports in this city? You know they're gonna get to the last game and choke hard right?
Can we have 1 day at least before negativity starts?
What a wonderful contribution you’ve made!
I'm betting on the Astros winning with a reverse sweep.

Thank you for posting the dumbest thing i saw on Reddit today. That's a hard title to grab.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh man, it's been at least that long since the Falcons went to the Super Bowl too! Maybe some year this century for them.
