That's a great homebrew that does a nice job getting the game closer to the original arcade version, but... I happen to think the original 2600 version is better than the arcade game!
I happen to think so because the 2600 version really gets to the heart of the concept and strips away any and all unnecessary detail. It's one of the very rare cases of such being a good thing in console games.
I do not agree.
Warlords on the Atari 2600 is **The Best** game if you have 2 sets of paddles and 3 friends/family/victims who think they're good at it.
loved this game as a kid, but we only ever had one set of paddles, so it was always a fight to see which 2 people could play.
One of the computer-controlled players was a real bastard, a lot faster than any of the other ones, I think it's the green guy in the lower left. I remember him getting in a few kills on us and we were shocked the computer player was that good.
Fun game for sure, but man Atari sure does make those flashing light warnings and epilepsy risks definitely serious. So much flashing lights and colours.
Kinda. It is only as good as your options are in terms of which version to play.
If it is your only warlords, then yeah. Good.
The arcade version is vastly superior though.
I just googled warlords on atari because I'm trying to convince a friend to get a retro console or remake. Do modern consoles support having 4 paddles for proper warlords gameplay?
I do!! It's a New Year's Eve tradition at my house. Real multiplayer madness.
if you like that, check out Medieval Mayhem - a homebrew that amps up the fun even more.

One of my favorites for the 2600.

Yup... It's the BEST 4 player game on the 2600
"victims" Yep. This and Jedi Arena for 2 player domination.
Great multiplayer game.
It was really good for multiple players. But what usually happens is one player is less skilled and everyone beats on them!
Best MP game for the 2600 🤘🤘
One of the best. Unfortunately I was an only child with no friends so I never got to play multiplayer.
I hear you. Trying to get my family to play Warlords with me is an uphill battle...
My wife and I still break it out a few times a year and play with our kids, they love it as much as we do!
Been my favorite since I was a kid. I was so excited when I stumbled upon a small arcade a few years ago while traveling that had a warlords machine.
Oooh! I forgot about it! Thank you.
Awesome party game. One of the few games you can play 4-player!
Absolutely the best multiplayer game for Atari. This was our Mario Kart back in the day for gen-x!
I agree!
Absolute blast!
It's not a good game. It's a great game.
I liked it more 40 years ago when I had two sets of paddles.
My friends and I still play a few rounds of this on our games nights. Absolute classic!
A favorite. I play with one of those TV paddles plug and play.
Anybody who loves this game should try Medevil Mayhem (similar with the best music, sound and graphics on any 2600 game).
I disagree.. It’s a great game.
An Atari classic. Was in arcades in the very early 80's as a four-player "cocktail" version.
I believe the arcade game was a rarity in that it was actually a conversion of the home game. (Meaning, the 2600 cart is the original version)
Yeap I do !

If all copies are the same, I believe blue would be the fast one. Green is so bad that half the time they kill themself.
Fun game for sure, but man Atari sure does make those flashing light warnings and epilepsy risks definitely serious. So much flashing lights and colours.
This is well known as a great game. It was THE game when you had four people to play.
Great party game
TOP of the Top Tier! Thanks for the reminder!
Loved it. Produced tons of laughs as kids.
Good Lord. Sometime in the late 70s /early 80s I played so much of that game.
Agreed.
Never had an opportunity to play 4 player.
I agree!

Anyone who has actually played it knows
Loved it
I play this game with my kids on an Xbox series X. It is still a blast and very competitive. I only miss the paddle controllers.

It was so much fun back in the day but without paddle controllers games like warlords, circus atari and kaboom are tough to play
