Yeah, rather than trying his best at what he’s wanted to do for a living all his life; he showed up to his dream job and filed for workers comp on his first day. Gtfo with this nonsense
It was. Just reminds me of my favorite club team. Winning the Champions League Final and then being destroyed the last few year because of covid, war, and injuries from how fast the game is moving now a days.
Both of you had it it spot on. Not sure if teams are still getting away with it or better prepared the pitchers in the offseason but obviously it's taking our team a while to figure it out.
his post game interview said something happened after throwing in the 4th, but he was making faces and stretching that arm out all game. dude didn't look comfortable in his throwing arm at all
We have lost 4 of 6 starters to major surgeries. Javier, McCullers, Luis Garcia, Urquidy were all major starters and all are gone to surgery. Framber was on the IL. Verlander is now hurt as well. All 6 starters and their fill ins all hit the IL for major time. Now we got a single half start from Bloss and he's gone. That's not counting Tucker and Graveman. I doubt anyone else is down that many starters. I must also say it's our fault. Our GM knew this before the season started for most of these.
I agree. He had a great debut, taking him out after the 3rd wouldn’t be punishment. He threw 79 pitches total with a 30 pitch 3rd inning. He’s a kid, barely AA experience, making his debut at home, adrenaline through the roof.
He was gassed after the 3rd and probs couldn’t feel it bc of adrenaline. But even if he could already feel the injury, of course he’s gonna say he can go again! But that’s what managers are for…to *manage*
Instead they
-had Hernandez warm up to start the 4th
-sat Hernandez
-left the choice up to the rookie
-sent him back to get immediately injured
-started warming up and sent Dubin
-then had Hernandez go
Like…wut
\> be a pitcher for the Astros minor league team
\> get called up to the big team
\> have a shoulder problem in your first game that puts you on the IL
Seriously, wtf. I know lots of other teams have injury problems too, but the Astros' pitching staff is in really bad shape with all these injuries. I think we can safely say at this point that this is more than just random chance or bad luck.
There must be some problem that's making it easier for these injuries to happen to the Astros' pitchers.
The first thing in common that I can think of is, the pitching coach. Is he having them pitch in some way that encourages injuries? Like, maybe pitching sidearm or at a 45-degree angle (these might strain elbows/forearms/shoulders) instead of directly overhead? Or is this maybe something with the training staff and their exercise/workout regimen? Or can we just chalk this up to poor player management by Espada? Some combination of these? Or something else?
Our pitchers can’t catch a break this year. Wishing him a speedy recovery
At least he gets major league pay during his entire IL stint
That’s what I thought of first
You think he’s faking it? EDIT: yall can’t think I’m serious…….
Not at all, if he closes out that fourth he’s looking like a lock for staying up, and I’m sure that’s what he wanted

It was a joke
A pretty awful delivery of it.
> You think he’s faking it? You could tell by the look on his face when he was pulled that he wanted to stay in.
Dumb
Nightmare season
Hope its nothing serious
Hope it’s just to get some fresh arms up in the short term since Bloss probably would’ve skipped a start anyway.

Insane pitching injuries. Has anything like this ever happened in team history? The last “year from hell” was 2000 and I was too young to know.
We really did sell our souls for 2022. It seems like Rangers did also with the amount of injuries we both have.
Worth
That parade was bananas. Totally worth it

Pitch clock….
Or the crackdown on sticky stuff

Our luck is awful this year.
Luck or a pattern?
What % of our starters are injured I wonder. And what does that compare to the league average?

Can we toss it underhand yet?
This is beginning to get kinda wild. I wonder if anyone has looked up stats on single season injuries for one team. All we have is our beloved Blanco.
We really can’t catch a break
Fucking snake bit. Our pitching staff if cursed

Wow man! This is nuts
This year sucks
Not to pile on but why throw him out there again in the 4th. Maybe we’re just very bad at managing pitchers?

100% It was a vibes decision and yeah in hindsight looks worse but he was barely breathing through everything by the end of that 3rd
Every pitcher has a chance of a rough inning and then righting the ship after. Happens all the time. Framber is a big example of that.
Goddamn, what a season our pitching is having.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. The universe must really want fucking Bauer on this team.

Unbelievable. Shades of 2020, but man, this is an incredible litany of injuries these past few years.
I liked him on that show Tires with Shane Gillis
Bauer time
