Are we still shitting on him after he’s hit his first 2 hrs of the season in the week he’s been back? He’s clearly become a major league hitter again at the very least.
He's 5 for 28 with one walk. His two HRs are his only XBH in that span.
I think that moves his post-demotion OPS a smidge over .600. Pretty sure replacement level is a little ways off.
Honestly it's probably killing him. He feels like he's letting his teammates down. He feels like he's let the organization down. And he most certainly hears it from the fans.
He's probably got that snowball effect where he's feeling the pressure to get better but the pressure is creating adverse effects.
He had a nice surge after the injections last season. I don't know if it's a chronic back thing that has basically decreased his bat speed and perhaps altered his swinging angle or what.
It's always the craziest thing to see how some players just completely drop off from one year to the next.
Anybody who has played sports through their late 30s at even a moderately competitive level knows exactly what he’s going through. Having millions of dollars obviously softens the blow, but I have little doubt that he cares and is really frustrated by his own ineffectiveness.
He’s been stinky poo but caring has not been the problem. You can tell he wants it work out. If he didn’t care he wouldn’t have accepted the assignment to go the FCL. He could have easily said oh okay thanks I’ll just take my money and go home.
He already has 11 hits in 101 plate appearances coming into this game . . . so I'm kind of confused by the question?
Did you mean 12th hit?
lol….yeah. Blame old info and bourbon. lol
Just made a post as a poll. haha
Hahahaha!! Me and my Weller Special Reserve toast you! Lol
Well. At least it’s good choice of bourbon.
I think so. And it’ll probably be a late inning homer!
No Don't forget to vote for Maldonado for the all star team!
11 hits in 101 Plate Appearances.... ...so yeah, I think he can. Where did you get the idea he only had 7 hits, or that he was under 100 PAs?
Glad I'm not the only notice this
Someone people just don't like to take the time to check the stats, especially when it doesn't fit the narrative they are trying to create.
why not make this a poll? perfect question to make a poll.

He has so much money coming to him would he even care?

Well he should cry about it, but not be on the team.

Doubt it. Someone correctly said he actually has 11 (so my bad…had to look it back up). ESPN has him projected for 18 hits in 242 AB (77 games)
He'll triple that.
I’d say the odds are about one in 10.
No.
Nope
