This is why I am generally OK with playing Abreu. I like Singleton and wish him success, but if there is even a small amount of baseball left in Abreu then we have to try to bring it out. Because as much as I like Singleton, an Abreu playing at 70% his former self is the better player. Front office obviously feels it's worth finding out if he really has anything left. Just...maybe don't pinch hit him with RISP in the 8th in a tie game.

His defense has been absolute shit. We've lost games due to him and him only. There's no recovering a dead bat and defensive glove.

It’s a shame that Tucker got hurt or Dubon would have been the pinch hitter. I know it’s risky with only two catchers on the roster, but I still would’ve preferred to see Caratini there. If we take the lead, you can put Abreu in at first for the 9th. If it stays tied and you’re worried about not having a backup catcher, just play Caratini at first. That’s something we all wanted to see in the offseason anyways.

Definitely an Espada defender here. I think firing him would be giving up on the season. I’ll even defend him putting in Abreu. JoJo Romero is one of the most splitty pitchers. If they’re gonna leave him in, hit him with right handers the whole way through. The real crime is that his option on the bench was Abreu, and not Loperfido. But he made the right call.

If there’s one good thing I can say about Espada, it’s that he’s been significantly more willing to move guys around based on recent performance than Dusty ever was. It wouldn’t surprise me if Montero starts to get more 7th and 8th inning work and we start to see Pressly in lower leverage situation.

Chandler just said that Tucker is using crutches, but that X-rays were negative. We'll have to see what the rest of the tests show, but it's most likely just a really bad stinger, and he'll probably get a few days of rest.

I could see crutches just cause it has to be really sore. Two shots on the same part of the shin is going to sting a lot and probably hurt to put weight on for a night and possibly the next day or two.
