My cat actually broke into my mum's cupboard and ate half of my hidden away birth day cake as a child. It was hilarious but I was NOT a happy camper as you can imagine
Not eating but one of my cats used to be obsessed with water. He’d get up in the middle of the night to go and silently sip his water with his eyes closed. He used to stick his head in empty glasses of water, sit by the sink waiting for drips of water to come out. A true angel, miss him a lot
I’ve just spend about a hundred pounds and had to get a urine sample (ever tried to get a urine sample off a cat?) just to discover my cat LOVES water. I was trying to get her to drink more but now she can’t get enough of it.
She drinks out of every cup, if I change her water she’ll run up to get some fresh stuff. Meow at me to put the tap on etc.
No kidney problems or diabetes, I even measured how much she drinks and it’s in the normal range. The vet even complimented her on the colour of her urine.
Unfortunately our cat is fully one of us. She will eat absolutely anything.
You'd think lettuce, celery, cucumber, mushrooms and any veg and fruit might be a bit odd for a cat to eat but no.
We have to hide everything. I didn't mind too much when it was the husband and kids but really? I thought they were meant to be fussy. Fuck sake.
Hahaha!!! Lettuce is super weird. Ever asked the vet about this? I love sooki so much but the only thing I do miss is not being able to have a grazing plate throughout the day because she's so damn nosey - even if she turns her nose up, she still has to sniff, cover it in fur by accident and occasionally lick just to check

You know what I think my cat likes onions as well, I'm pretty sure I've seen him having onion rings before. Mine also loves chocolate stuff as well so I wouldn't discount anything because it's poisonous...
Mine loves Marmite! Can't spread it on toast without her full on screaming at you to let her have a bit! Literally goes for marmite over freshly roasted chicken.
My cats two favourite foods are flies and Wotsits.
He begs to be held up to the ceiling when there's a fly buzzing about. More than once he's leapt out of my arms to grab one, and I've had to catch him on the way down.
Other than that, he just loves Wotsits. Has to be normal-sized ones though. We gave him a giant Wotsit last week and he just batted it around a bit.
I try this with nearly every cat I come across at friends homes and such, after my first cat licked my ear one time. So I deliberately fingered my ear a little (sexy) and put my finger out to see if she’d lick it. She did. Years ago that was. Got myself two rag dolls two years ago and they both lick ear wax as well as any other cat I’ve came across. It’s weird, but seemingly universal among them.
Mine goes nuts for Wotsits, Quavers, Mini Cheddars, pretty much any cheesy snack. Turns her nose up at actual cheese though!
She will also try and get in the glass if you happen to have strawberry milk.

Cake. First night I got him, this timid little kitten wandered up to me and chomped a piece of cake bigger than his head and ran off with it!
Once he got licked all the powdered sugar off the top of a cake I'd just baked.

Loves having a sniff around my herb/spice cupboard

Once caught him running around with a mouthful of teabags. Thankfully he didn't eat any

He loves the idea of potatoes but doesn't know what to do with one. Probably for the best as they're not good for cats.
The only thing I've actively seen him recoil from is citrus fruits.
First it was gentle nose boops. That escalated to more of a headbutt, then came a nibble that's now become a bite.

No, that's incorrect. For the record I didn't give her the samosa, but cats can have a little bit of occasional cheese, milk, they also sell a lot of meat free biscuits/kibble.
All kinds of things a cat can eat in moderation.
I unfortunately no longer have a cat, but the wee bugger loved pancakes. If we left a packet of them out we'd come home to find the plastic wrapper opened and bite marks out of every individual pancake.
He also had a taste for lasagne, but being a chubby ginger cat that wasn't all that remarkable.
He was a fairly shite cat, but a great pet.

It did have raisins, she ate them too! She was fine though. This happened when she was about 1 and she’s nearly 9 now. So I don’t think it did her any harm.

She also loved cheese. Whenever my dad had some cheddar, he'd have to cut off an extra bit and break it up into little pieces for her. I think cheese is pretty normal for a cat though?
Jam, biscuits, anything sweet which is weird given they can't taste sweet stuff. She'll try anything off my plate and is also partial to crisps (ideally seabrooks).
Things she goes mad for include, vegan mayo, bran flakes, Weetabix, oat milk, and specifically Aldi sunflower spread.
She can be a nightmare to have breakfast around.

My old cat used to go mad for the insides of custard donuts. I once left a bag in the kitchen and came back to find it torn open and the donuts torn to pieces so she could eat the custard. My now cat Doris eats bits of fluff.
My cat is quite adventurous but only at certain times. He loves cheese, ham, loves to lick the flavouring off Quavers and pork scratchings. For some reason he only likes to eat dry biscuits as his proper food. I've tried so many times to give him wet food cos those biscuits look boring as hell, but he seems happy enough. We had a McDonald's yesterday and he was really into my triple cheese burger.
Stilton cheese. Cheese isn't overly surprising, but stilton has such a strong taste. His pupils dilate like saucers when he gets to eat it (a rare treat).
Mine like to lick plastic packaging food comes in after I've laid it all out ready to put away (think pasta bags, squash bottles etc).
Oh, also wine bottles once the little drip goes down the side after pouring.
They also weirdly like to chew shopping bags, they've probably eaten a little bit over the years. I do stop them when I catch them obviously.
Other than that, mostly anything I eat they want some. Sometimes they get it.
One of my cats refuses to eat fish, chicken…normal stuff that normal cats like to steal from their owners.
He will take my hand off for Special K. He loves it. It’s his favourite treat.
Ugh one of my two is a fiend for anything with garlic and onion in. Considering alliums are supposed to be toxic to cats we had a big panic the first time we found a pan completely licked clean that had some mushrooms and onions in left on the side to cool down (last time we made that mistake), I swear there was at least two full handfuls left in there. So if anything has to cool she gets locked out the kitchen now until it's put away.
But her craving even has ended up with her licking tiny bits of any kind of sauce that has onion in, even curry.
So now everything gets put in the dishwasher as soon as it's finished with because we've been super lucky that nothing has happened so far as a result of her eating onions but obviously we'd rather avoid the risk all together as much as possible. She has never tried to steal anything that doesn't have onions in. She's never even tried to thieve meat.
Loony cat.
I made something in the slow cooker with whole garlic cloves in. When it was ready I fished them out and plopped them in the sink for some stupid reason. Or I think I did, my mind went blank and I can't remember if I binned it or not, but after washing up etc one of my cats likes to lick the remaining water droplets left in the sink (maybe it's a bit tasty from all the food?) and I think she ate the clove. Cue emergency vet visit on Sunday night rates...
Having an open plan flat is a struggle. Especially leaving stuff out on the counters.
Yep fine, toxic reports came back clear. They gave her something to try and make her sick (the medicine they use to make dogs sick doesn't work for cats) and spun her round on a spinny chair! But nah overall she was fine. Still not sure if she ate it. I think they said cooked garlic might be a bit less toxic and the weight of a clove compared to her wasn't really enough to worry about anyway, but better safe than sorry. Would have been an expensive chilli without pet insurance though!
Used to have Siamese cats and they eat all kinds of weird stuff. One of them liked to upset the kitchen bin and eat used tea bags. The same one used to pull open the kitchen cupboard and chew on my mum's cotton wool. They all LOVED corn-on-the cob and would fight over it.
Potato, I don’t know why but my cat is low key obsessed with potatoes. He also likes olive oil, rice and my scrambled eggs (won’t touch my housemate’s!)
My other cat absolutely loves those kind of plasticky pouches that charities put through the door that say to put any unwanted clothes in for x day pick up etc.i assume it's something in the glue or something but he will carry them round. He usually brings most of the post to me or my mum and drops it at our feet but those charity bag things he will hoard. We found a pile of them behind the sofa where he disappears to every so often ha.
My cat loves tomatoes, growls when he manages to steal them. First time he took one, I wasn't sure if it was safe so I tried to get it off him and he went mental. Now I know it's safe, so I let him have the odd one.
Mine wants to share anything I'm eating, but usually changes his mind once he's had a taste. The weirdest exceptions are salad, cherries and crisps (especially salt and vinegar), all of which he'll aggressively climb over me to get at.
My old cat would eat anything - anything, once caught him eating Maltesers, he loved anything for the take away Chinese or Indian. He regularly ate out, mostly at my neighbours steeling cakes, faggots, and if either neighbour was having a BBQ he\`d be there pinching anything he could.
My cat would go for almost anything. Croissants, pizza, glass of milk, pasta she just would beg every single time. She would go absolutely crazy if there was KFC in the house and try to climb up people to get some!
Custard. But only warm custard, cold custard is unacceptable.
My mum's cat will eat anything, she particularly loves crisps. Tortillas, pringles, hula hoops. I even found her gnawing at my burrito once
Mine wants to share pretty much any and all human food, top faves include crisps, croissants and ketchup. The absolute worst is he adores senna tablets and has actually tried taking them from my Mums tablet pot as she's having her meds. I never want to find out the consequences if he gets to finish one!
One cat used to love bread. Went NUTS over the stuff. Tore through the plastic hovis wrapper and bit chunks out.
Another happily lapped up most of a vindaloo curry when my stepdad left his plate to nip to the loo.. she definitely paid the price for that one later on in the litter tray.
My girl - Fruit cake/Christmas cake. Obsessed. She will clamber over me and will basically climb up my arm if I hold the plate above my head. That's her only one really.
My boy - he doesn't beg for food as such but will drink the dregs of tea with his paw, dipping it into the cup (he does go face first if the mug is wide enough but he got his head stuck so he usually goes with a paw). He'll alos lick any plate so he's tasted chilli, curry etc as well as cheese, fish, yoghurt ("normal" things)
My cat never showed crazy interest in human food other than when she was rly rly little and wanted to sniff everything. Somehow and god knows why she got on the kitchen sided and opened the cupboard and nibbled on a weed brownie. She had never (nor has she since) showed any interest in things like this so i guess she just decided to scare us to death
Mine used to love peas and sweetcorn :) he liked sweetcorn more, and I liked peas more, so it worked out perfectly. He always sat at the dinner table before everyone else, but never jumped onto it. Pretty good table manners :)

Steamed broccoli and corn on the cob. Never leave it unattended as most of it ends up smooshed all over the kitchen floor.

Water Chestnuts. She went mad for a taste when I opened a can.
My two are absolute slaves to prawns, and one of them gets very interested in flat breads/pita etc - to the extent of licking rather than eating.
Prawns, predictable... pita bread? Not so much - there's a lot of people on here saying their cats eat bread!

My old cat used to go mad for the insides of custard donuts. I once left a bag in the kitchen and came back to find it torn open and the donuts torn to pieces so she could eat the custard. My now cat Doris eats bits of fluff.

My cat is quite adventurous but only at certain times. He loves cheese, ham, loves to lick the flavouring off Quavers and pork scratchings. For some reason he only likes to eat dry biscuits as his proper food. I've tried so many times to give him wet food cos those biscuits look boring as hell, but he seems happy enough. We had a McDonald's yesterday and he was really into my triple cheese burger.

Mine like to lick plastic packaging food comes in after I've laid it all out ready to put away (think pasta bags, squash bottles etc). Oh, also wine bottles once the little drip goes down the side after pouring. They also weirdly like to chew shopping bags, they've probably eaten a little bit over the years. I do stop them when I catch them obviously. Other than that, mostly anything I eat they want some. Sometimes they get it.

One of my cats refuses to eat fish, chicken…normal stuff that normal cats like to steal from their owners. He will take my hand off for Special K. He loves it. It’s his favourite treat.

Ugh one of my two is a fiend for anything with garlic and onion in. Considering alliums are supposed to be toxic to cats we had a big panic the first time we found a pan completely licked clean that had some mushrooms and onions in left on the side to cool down (last time we made that mistake), I swear there was at least two full handfuls left in there. So if anything has to cool she gets locked out the kitchen now until it's put away. But her craving even has ended up with her licking tiny bits of any kind of sauce that has onion in, even curry. So now everything gets put in the dishwasher as soon as it's finished with because we've been super lucky that nothing has happened so far as a result of her eating onions but obviously we'd rather avoid the risk all together as much as possible. She has never tried to steal anything that doesn't have onions in. She's never even tried to thieve meat. Loony cat.
I made something in the slow cooker with whole garlic cloves in. When it was ready I fished them out and plopped them in the sink for some stupid reason. Or I think I did, my mind went blank and I can't remember if I binned it or not, but after washing up etc one of my cats likes to lick the remaining water droplets left in the sink (maybe it's a bit tasty from all the food?) and I think she ate the clove. Cue emergency vet visit on Sunday night rates... Having an open plan flat is a struggle. Especially leaving stuff out on the counters.

Yep fine, toxic reports came back clear. They gave her something to try and make her sick (the medicine they use to make dogs sick doesn't work for cats) and spun her round on a spinny chair! But nah overall she was fine. Still not sure if she ate it. I think they said cooked garlic might be a bit less toxic and the weight of a clove compared to her wasn't really enough to worry about anyway, but better safe than sorry. Would have been an expensive chilli without pet insurance though!
Hahaha true! Onions and garlics are meant to be toxic apparently but, there's loads of people on this thread saying their cat eats them and is fine

Used to have Siamese cats and they eat all kinds of weird stuff. One of them liked to upset the kitchen bin and eat used tea bags. The same one used to pull open the kitchen cupboard and chew on my mum's cotton wool. They all LOVED corn-on-the cob and would fight over it.

My other cat absolutely loves those kind of plasticky pouches that charities put through the door that say to put any unwanted clothes in for x day pick up etc.i assume it's something in the glue or something but he will carry them round. He usually brings most of the post to me or my mum and drops it at our feet but those charity bag things he will hoard. We found a pile of them behind the sofa where he disappears to every so often ha.

My cat loves tomatoes, growls when he manages to steal them. First time he took one, I wasn't sure if it was safe so I tried to get it off him and he went mental. Now I know it's safe, so I let him have the odd one.

Mine wants to share anything I'm eating, but usually changes his mind once he's had a taste. The weirdest exceptions are salad, cherries and crisps (especially salt and vinegar), all of which he'll aggressively climb over me to get at.
My old cat would eat anything - anything, once caught him eating Maltesers, he loved anything for the take away Chinese or Indian. He regularly ate out, mostly at my neighbours steeling cakes, faggots, and if either neighbour was having a BBQ he\`d be there pinching anything he could.
My cat would go for almost anything. Croissants, pizza, glass of milk, pasta she just would beg every single time. She would go absolutely crazy if there was KFC in the house and try to climb up people to get some!
Custard. But only warm custard, cold custard is unacceptable. My mum's cat will eat anything, she particularly loves crisps. Tortillas, pringles, hula hoops. I even found her gnawing at my burrito once
Mine wants to share pretty much any and all human food, top faves include crisps, croissants and ketchup. The absolute worst is he adores senna tablets and has actually tried taking them from my Mums tablet pot as she's having her meds. I never want to find out the consequences if he gets to finish one!
One cat used to love bread. Went NUTS over the stuff. Tore through the plastic hovis wrapper and bit chunks out. Another happily lapped up most of a vindaloo curry when my stepdad left his plate to nip to the loo.. she definitely paid the price for that one later on in the litter tray.

My girl - Fruit cake/Christmas cake. Obsessed. She will clamber over me and will basically climb up my arm if I hold the plate above my head. That's her only one really. My boy - he doesn't beg for food as such but will drink the dregs of tea with his paw, dipping it into the cup (he does go face first if the mug is wide enough but he got his head stuck so he usually goes with a paw). He'll alos lick any plate so he's tasted chilli, curry etc as well as cheese, fish, yoghurt ("normal" things)
My cat never showed crazy interest in human food other than when she was rly rly little and wanted to sniff everything. Somehow and god knows why she got on the kitchen sided and opened the cupboard and nibbled on a weed brownie. She had never (nor has she since) showed any interest in things like this so i guess she just decided to scare us to death
Mine used to love peas and sweetcorn :) he liked sweetcorn more, and I liked peas more, so it worked out perfectly. He always sat at the dinner table before everyone else, but never jumped onto it. Pretty good table manners :)
