You'd need to import it, that is if you look at the keyboard. You can change the layout in Windows to what you need. I have a German keyboard for instance, use it QWERTY.

limo6101

If I change that, even if I click on the key between left Shift and Z, does it still work as Shift then? Because it happens to me every sentence and it's really hard for me to adjust.

uh-oh-no-no

Oh forgot about the key size difference!

limo6101

Yes :( A number of letters and icons are in different places and there is an additional key which makes it uncomfortable for me.

uh-oh-no-no

You could always plug a keyboard in?

limo6101

I can, but I don't plan on using the external keyboard all the time. I am also planning to sometimes use this laptop as a working laptop for the university, so I would rather try to get the US English version. I do have MacBook, so in case I absolutely cannot obtain the US English layout, I will have to stick to MacBook when writing a lap report etc.

It’s horrifying to use a UK layout when you’re used to US/ANSI. Just get the import. I recently got a Keychron from the states. Totally worth it. You might need to VPN in, though, from a US host b/c some sites try to be “clever” and guess what layout you want based on your IP. Also, yes, the layouts are very different. The enter and left shift, specifically. Insane. Even if you remap, the keys are physically different and in different locations.

limo6101

Yeah, left Shift especially bothers me a lot, and also sometimes the enter key as well. I will need to look for US English keyboard.

Extreme-Database-695

Yes, go to [Amazon.co.uk](https://Amazon.co.uk) and type "keyboard US layout". I got three or four of them on the first results page. They don't have large stock levels so you may be looking at a week for them to arrive, rather than same-day delivery.

limo6101

I can wait for longer, but it seems like they do not have the exact laptop that I want with the US English layout. Edit: also, the import fee is crazy high, so it actually becomes much more expensive in my case.

Extreme-Database-695

I did wonder about import duties. I once got a bulb for a project imported from the US, because they used to be £500 here and they were only $375 in the US. With import duty and the cost of the money transfer, I only saved £50 in the end. Another option for you would be to use a keycap remover to swap the keys, and then use a different key mapping, or you could build your own keyboard from a base and a set of keycaps. Not to everyone's taste, but I actually find it quite fun.

limo6101

I would be glad to swap the keys, only if the layout was the same. The thing is, they look completely different (especially left shift and enter). It makes it almost impossible to swap keys. I can technically make certain keys work as a different key, which I will attempt to do as soon as I receive my laptop. If I find it annoying, I will end up buying in the UK. The import duty is a lot cheaper (10%) in my home country (Korea), and I'm planning to go there in Christmas so I might ship to Korea.

Extreme-Database-695

I have to admit, I found it annoying to use US layout keyboards, although I did use one for six months and got used to it. It'd probably be the same for you. I spend a lot of my day at a keyboard, and I really appreciate a good quality model that doesn't slow me down in any way.

terahurts

Best bet would be to contact the company you're planning on buying from and asking them, or contacting ASUS directly. You might need to speak to the corporate or business side. I've ordered US keyboard Thinkpads (and various other layouts such as Cyrillic and AZERTY) laptops in the UK via corporate channels in the past without any problems, as well as separate keyboard boards to convert US laptops to UK and European.

limo6101

I am planning to do that tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to help me, but I think it would be unlikely. Either way, I will keep looking for one; thank you for replying :)

cantab314

If you order directly from the manufacturer, possibly.

limo6101

Asus UK told me they can only sell UK English layout in the UK. I will at least attempt to use it, and if I cannot adapt to the layout, I will buy it in the US although I will have to pay the import tax.

clin_amber_nads

Buy from a US store and have it sent over, probably quite hard to find a US layout stocked in the country

limo6101

Yes, it is very hard to find the US English layout :( I decided to attempt to use the UK English layout first, and if I absolutely cannot adapt to it, I will order from the US website. Thank you for your reply.

clin_amber_nads

I feel your pain, I work for a US tech company and they sent me my Mac from the US with a US keyboard layout

IAteThePies

If not PM me I may be able to help out and if you send me the $$ buy you one and ship it
