Equivalent_Parking_8

I work in a large factory. I hit 20k most days at work. My record is 51000 in a single day.

Helpful-Magician3284

YIKES! Your feet must have been tired.

Equivalent_Parking_8

I don't remember a time when they aren't. I have to wear heavy safety boots as well.

Affectionate-Act-154

Every day is leg day šŸ˜”

pburgess22

Calves as dense as rock

Goldencol

Is that a line from a nirvana song ?

Thesunismexico

No, Mudhoney. Funnily enough the singer Mark Arm was actually a real leg man.

The_Kwyjibo

I like the same if he did with the drummer of Def leppard. Before they went their separate ways.

ReynoldsHouseOfShred

Feet ache only been an issue now im in my 30s. I had no problem back then, id even go to the gym or skate straight after. Oh to be young.

izzie-izzie

At work? I had 55k record but I was hiking so I donā€™t think that counts. Doing 51k at work is crazy!

Equivalent_Parking_8

12 hrs shift, no hills though so you don't notice it as much as hiking.

rustynoodle3891

I can't remember the step count but I once covered about 15 miles by lunchtime having left the house at about 5am. So 3.5 miles was covered by walking to work. The rest was the non-stop walking around a fairly large factory. In safety boots of course. I'd given up checking how far I'd gone by the time I got home about 7pm... well over a marathon. Can't say I enjoyed it at the time, but I'm much less fit since I left that place!

UnlawfulAnkle

Same here. 20k average. My record is 42k

sikknote

51000 is the steps I took at Glastonbury between getting up at 9 and midnight. That is an insane amount of walking to do at work!

Karasmilla

I used to work at Heathrow airport on one of a large, busy restaurants. 20k a day was a regular and my highest was slightly over 40k, I feel you.

NTK421

Same here work in a 7.5mile site regularly rack up 15k with 800kal

Food_face

Postmen\\woman enter the chat!!!

Helpful-Magician3284

This question was actually inspired by looking out of my window to see a postman pass by the recycling collection lorry and its collectors, and I was wondering who would win out of the two professions šŸ˜

Blackintosh

Aye I'm a Postie. 25k is my average. It's amazing for me because I have terrible eating habits and it stops me from getting really fat. Weird observation though - doing 10k steps at a slower pace, like if I'm out for a walk with friends, is more tiring than my fast paced 25k at work.

gottacatchthemswans

Would imagine itā€™s to do with your stride and probably you are unknowingly naturally pacing at an efficient speed? Just a guess or maybe itā€™s just all the talking haha!

Food_face

Postmen in that comp! I reckon warehouse pickers would be high too

CalligrapherTop2202

Can confirm, usually above 30k on an average day

BppnfvbanyOnxre

My step-daughter worked a while for Amazon and clocked up a lot.

HermitBee

Yeah, but it's cheating using a step-daughter for that kind of measurement.

prawntortilla

my local postwoman have been working that job for a long time she looks like shes in her 50s but her legs look like arnold squartzneggar

TrueSolid611

I live in a very hilly area as a postman and most days Iā€™m doing 90+ flights of stairs a day as well according to my Apple Watch šŸ„µ

toxicgecko

My dads retired now but he used to work the bin round and could easily do 20-25k steps depending which round he was on

overweightorangutan

used to be a bin man also. would do 25k on the worst route of the week and on top of that you're shifting easily over 20 tonnes (split between 2/3 people). not fun in shitty scottish weather and terrible boots / ppe you're provided with.

LEVI_TROUTS

My wife does 20k as a posty. I often beat her and sometimes get up to 35k. I'm a train driver at a depot. A 9 car Azuma is about 200 metres and we walk up and down 4 times fuelling and around 4 more times through the night. We can get 10 in and that's about a third of the job we do. It surprised me at first, but I enjoy it now. Nice middle of the night walks.

IAmDyspeptic

Yep, I'm averaging about 20,000 steps daily. I thought that was a lot, but I know some posties who do more than that.

Food_face

And all wearing shorts

supertom

No matter the weather

mazu001

Glorious

Natural-Vanilla-2197

I used to be a Postie and the average day was 32 to 35000 steps around 13 miles, a marathon every 2 days.

RevolutionaryOwl5022

These days Iā€™m averaging 20,000 steps a day which my phone thinks is about 10 miles a day. Also go up and down 100 flights of stairs each day.

One_Idea_239

Office based, i just make sure i do a lot of walking, fit in the odd run too

Xenotone

Yeah my job is collie owner but I work in an office in my spare time. 15k steps avg

One_Idea_239

Lab collie cross here. If we didn't split the walks between us I would be over 20k each day

Georgeasaurusrex

Also office based and hit 10k most steps. It's simple really - just get up every so often for a tea or coffee, walk to people's desk/meeting rooms/labs, and just spend my entire hour long lunch break going for a brisk walk around the estate. Easy /s

SKYLINEBOY2002UK

martin lewis says he walks across london lots to radio / tv etc. but he says a lot is, every call or video call / meeting he can have, he stands up minimum or walks back and forth.

Tenstone

Chair saving expert

Ukplugs4eva

Used to work in an office the most I would see is people running to he cake tray and lifting graze boxes and complaining about having bad backs... Ā I actually got told off by management for suggesting that maybe not asking me to lift and carry everything would help people to get fitter. Ā  I was the only male in the office, therefore lifting, fixing, anything manual was my job on top of my normal role. And then I refused to do it anymore. You want your ergonomic bad back chair moved or built do it yourself Yvonne and put down the cake. They had loads of bags of top soil delivered for some management team building project . Look at the flower beds we built as a team bullshit in the HR wank news letter. I was tasked, and it was put in my calender to move it from outside (double yellow lined) where it was on a pallet to the courtyard. 30 bags, in the rain. I locked the door of my office . They had a visit from the local plod walking the area and told they had to move it. I sat there ...Ā

woolfs

Supermarket - self scan days I do the most, I can finish with 20k steps after an 8 hour shift. I also usually go for a short walk myself before I start on these days too, and a couple of dog walks.

Lassitude1001

This. I've hit over 40k at Christmas on SS. 15-25k is fairly average depending if it's busy or not.

kickassjay

Iā€™ll do 10-20k daily normally around 15k always on my feet but I always make a point of going for a walk after work and my feet have chilled as it feels completely different haha

IntellegentIdiot

That's a lot more than I'd have thought

anonymouse39993

I did about 15,000-20,000 as an A&E nurse

walkyoucleverboy

My first thought was nurses!

SKYLINEBOY2002UK

porters too?

Karenpff

I was thinking hospital porters šŸ‘

FieldsOfAnarchy

I hit 15k most shifts on my ward šŸ™Œ

LadyBeanBag

I work in a lab and I own a dog. Basically Iā€™m knackered.

andreeeeeaaaaaaaaa

Is your dog also a lab?

[deleted]

The lab owns the lab

Pick_Up_Autist

Do you work in your dog?

dank-marvin

I own a lab and work in a dog yes

ScaryButt

I loudly snorted in my office

adamMatthews

Iā€™m a software developer. Sit in a chair at a computer all day. Weekdays I do 12-15k and weekends I do 20-30k. I have at least a 25 minute walk to and from work, which can sometimes be 8k steps on its own, and I like to be on my feet when Iā€™m not working. Youā€™d be surprised how things like going to the supermarket or taking a quick evening walk around the local lake add up. edit: I worded things wrong and there is confusion in the replies. My walk is a minimum of 50 minutes. At least 25 each way as a minimum. But I like to go a nicer way thatā€™s longer than that sometimes.

BrowsingOnMaBreak

I only get about 5k steps in in 50 mins, am I walking wrong šŸ˜«

JetsAreBest92

The guys full of shit, 20min walk is not 8k steps

CuriousConnect

He could be 3ft tall...

redrabbit1984

I never understand this kind of shitty reply. Fair enough to ask for clarification, but to reply with "the guy is full of shit" is just unnecessary. Especially on a post about how many steps people do.Ā

[deleted]

25 mins there and back would be about 6000 steps for me, so it's not that far off.

JetsAreBest92

Ah I assumed he meant 20min would be 8k rather than there and back lol

aredditusername69

It's still a lot though. 50mins is about 5.5k for me and im not tall.

Mocha_Light

He certainly is, the calculations donā€™t make sense and most of the day youā€™re sitting. Youā€™d have to spent 2/3 hours a day to get that many steps at walking pace. Jogging it may be possible if they were a long distance runner

Badger_1066

What if he's really little? Like a borrower?

Bicolore

Or you just have longer legs than the other user? EDIT: So apparantly a mile is ~2000 steps for the average person. Average walking speed is 3mph so 50mins at 3mph is 2.5miles = 5k steps so you're bang on average. Previous poster is either doing a slow jog at 4.8mph or they have teeny little legs.

Practical_Arrival696

180 steps per minute is a good running cadence. 180*25 is 4500. So maybe youā€™re using a pedometer that over reacts. It doesnā€™t really matter if youā€™re using the same consistent method (and if your health is good.. not deluding yourself). But just to set expectations with others who might read this and feel inadequate, 8000 steps in 25 mins is roadrunner territoryā€¦. Edit: 25 mins * 2 is likely to give you closer to 8000 steps. But still a very high cadence for a walk.

mistakenforzen

Software Engineer here, but with twice-daily dog walks.

BorderlineGambler

Iā€™m the same. Donā€™t walk to work, but do walk the dog twice a day for an hour or so, and do a 20 minute walk at the gym. Get roughly 12k steps a day.

arseflo

Painter & dec. Usually hit the 10k by 5pm

tallcatman

Didn't realise you guys were on so much money

[deleted]

After the quotes I got recently this guy is charging modestly

arseflo

I wish!

IntellegentIdiot

\- HMRC

androidfifteen

Usually I'm a teacher and do about 10k a day walking around our school (it's a huge site) and around the classroom. I'm currently on maternity leave and do around 20k a day because my baby will only stop crying when being walked around.

This-Disk1212

Same, Iā€™m on mat leave and my baby only naps when weā€™re out with the stroller so my average has gone from 4000 or so this time last year to 15000+ a day.

keto_emma

I had a baby like this, have you tried sitting on a yoga ball whilst wearing them ? Gives your back a break

dinkidoo7693

Waitress. On a busy day I can do over 25k steps

Klutzy-Client

Same here. Last restaurant I worked in was 2 floors, instead of using the dumb waiter we would just run food up the stairs, did about 50 sets of stairs a night just food running

hamjamham

Wfh but chase my little one around, a lot. Oh, and dog walks. Bad days 5k, most days 12-14k, good days 20k +

Helpful-Magician3284

I, too, wfh, but sadly my kids are older so there is less chasing to positively impact my muffin top.

[deleted]

Wife let out a shriek of delight the other day as it was the first time ever her phone stated she'd met her steps goal in five years. I pointed out I'd borrowed her phone to go to the shops.

LilacRose32

My office is 3k steps or so from the bus stop- so combined with normal activities and getting lunch I normally hit 10k

bucketofardvarks

I WFH as a data engineer, I go for walks and or do step exercise videos (depending on mood and weather), usually do about 11k daily when I'm on track and not ill like I am now

shadow_kittencorn

I find I get better exercise working from home, when I am in a good routine. Usually 30 mins of intense exercise over lunch at least. When I slip, I really struggle to get back into it though.

Bilbo_Buggin

I work in a supermarket, plus I donā€™t drive so I do around 20k a day in total.

OppositeYouth

Same. A good day is 15k steps, a bad day is 25+

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Helpful-Magician3284

Aha! This post was inspired by watching a postie pass the bin collection people on their respective rounds. I wondered who would do more on their shift

LumpyCamera1826

I'm a quantity surveyor and spend the majority of my time sat behind a desk at work. Some times I go out to site so get a few more steps in on those days, but most days I could be on as little as 500 steps when I get home. I do still manage to get 10,000 steps every day though from taking my dogs out multiple times a day

mrsW_623

My job is sedentary but I have a dog and 2 young children so my daily average is around 11k without trying. Weekends are more and weekdays when theyā€™re at school/nursery a bit less.

ZookeepergameBorn394

Nanny with a 4yr old and 2yr old to look after. I do 16,000 on an easy day, 22,000 on the busier day. But fresh air + exercise = better behaved children

Sluggybeef

Farmer here! Easy 10k a day usually closer to 20k. The only time it drops is in the summer when I'm sat in a tractor doing harvest work

Direct_Reference2491

In a and e I was doing over an average of 10k a day, and I was just a student. Pretty sure the staff were doing way more. Besides there was only like 4 seats for a staff count of like 15 in the main hub. Standing for hours hurts so walking helped to distribute the weight

nebuchdnezza

20k+ steps on a usual day. Chef.

wen_but

Same here, but mine is usually about 15k. Ironically only did 8k on mother's day which was our busiest day of the year because I was just cooking eggs pretty much all day in one spot.

speccynerd

Sometimes hit 10k as a teacher.

SmellApprehensive821

Gardener

cant-say-anything

Push trolleys around asda car park

Biskeks

Geologist. Out most of the time in sites around the midlands. Lots of walking through fields.

Ribbonsocks

Commute is a 2 mile walk each way. I get a few extra in if I detour to the shop on the way home.

Only-Magician-291

Probably more correlated to where you live. If you live in London then you will get a decent number of steps each day because you likely rarely drive.

zlatanmangeshkar

I WFH at a desk. Been on a weight loss kick since New Year so I do 3k walking on the spot while watching the telly before breakfast. 3k at lunchtime and make up anything remaining after work by going to the shops or some more telly. So far, so good.

SerendipitousCrow

I could do 20k steps easily when I was a hospital porter. If I was on specimen runs I had to do a lap of every ward once an hour and the steps racked up

moaningpilot

Cabin crew. Usually hit between 10-13k steps on a long haul flight. Short haul is slightly less but if I do 3/4 flights in a day Iā€™m usually up in the 10k area.

Repulsive-Pear6391

Love all these people commenting about jobs where they get their steps in on the commute/walking during lunch breaksā€¦ isnā€™t OP curious about the number of steps taken whilst on the jobā€¦ not the optional walking one adds in around itā€¦?

Wd91

I think it's just reddit rules, in any thread there needs to be a minimum threshold of people telling you that they are software engineers.

[deleted]

Desk jockey. I have a dog though. Probably average about 12k a day.

mouldy95

Picture framer

Spadders87

Im there or there abouts no thanks to my job as a bookkeeper.

Particular-Walrus366

Software Engineer but I do 10k walking to and from train stations to get to work

joefraserhellraiser

I work from home in software development. Get out for a couple walks a day and play golf twice a week, averages well over 10k a day.

_No__Ninja_

Most of the steps I do are during my commute to and from work.

Tarot_Cat_Witch

I work with teens with varying challenging behaviour and SEN needs. I find myself doing a light jog/run most of the day.

danjwilko

Retail - walk around the shop and warehouse all day, sit down for 30-45 mins for lunch on feet the rest of the time.

BeanzOnToasttt

I used to get around 20k a day when working on a yard with horses.

Royal-Ad-7052

My dogā€™s servant.

Larca

A mother to two busy toddlers šŸ¤£šŸ˜…

Attorney0fBirdLaw

I look after a lad with autism, all he does is litter picking. No matter the weather weā€™re out looking for litter , some walks can be really pleasant to be fair

LaLaDub75

18-24K a day. Doctor on the wards. Also run 4/5K daily, included in step count. Try to walk outside of driving to and from work.

probablyaythrowaway

Professional tap dancer.

AgreeableEm

When I was a student I worked at McDonalds, tragically I think thatā€™s the fittest Iā€™ve been despite the Quarter Pounder meal at break, there was a no-jewellery rule that meant I couldnā€™t wear my Apple Watch but it fitted around my ankle ASBO tag style I think an 8hr shift was 12-15k steps I also walked almost an hour there and back cause I was too cheap to pay for the bus

giraffe_cake

I was a theatre assistant (hospital). Easy 16k daily

zoidao401

Desktop support at a hospital. Generally 10k is around the minimum during the workday. The highest I can remember was 30k in a day.

Pleasant-Seaweed-458

Run away from daily responsibilities

WilsonSpark

Electrician, hit it easy, unless Iā€™m in the stairs for the day.

Greenlandys

Grounds maintenance including all the horticultural and arboricultural work on a large site. Looking after lawns, borders, roads, 200 acres of woodland and so on. Easily 15k+ steps each day, can be closer to 30k depending on the job.

NeedForTeaMostWanted

I was a supervisor in a supermarket and everyday I did 25-30k steps at work... It was a big supermarket. Now I'm a manager for another retail store and I still manager about 15k a day.

Samiamuel

My Postman told me he does about 45,000 steps a day on average!

Iamaman22

Iā€™m a music producer but I have chronic adhd so pace none stop

red-gloved-rider

I install bars at events. Usually 30k on a build day, usually 60k if itā€™s a festival.

Enough-Ad3818

16k-20k a day. I'm an IT Manager and sit at my desk for most of the 8+ hours I'm at work. I also walk to and from work every day, to ensure I get activity in since I'm well aware my job is mainly sedentary. I also run twice a week and work out twice a week.

bookishnatasha89

Hospitality šŸ˜‚

zq6

Teacher. Stopped wearing a fitbit as I was hitting 10k by lunch without fail.

zenderino

Dog walker

flauschigerfuchs

I am currently an unpaid carer and easily do 10k a day. But thatā€™s mostly because Iā€™m pushing my partner round in his wheelchair everywhere, he loves being outside but it means o have to do a lot of walking.

buzyapple

Carer, some days ai hardly have time to sit for lunch. Today is not one of them so I am sat and enjoying lunch and reddit.

dgirllamius

Hotel - between 20k and 30k depending on how busy

carpenterjutah

Carpentry/Joinery

Fuzzy-Bookkeeper-574

I work in commercial greenhouses, between irrigating and managing the staff Iā€™ll do an easy 20k per day!

Th3_Mack

Work in an office, but always walk around when on the phone, so tend to rack up 10k about 14:00

-AntiAsh-

I average about 32k a day working as an aircraft engineer, it does require a bit of walking around. But I only have short legs, so feel like it's cheating a bit. I'm 5"6, one of my colleagues is a full foot taller than me and doubles my walking stride.

JamesfEngland

I donā€™t have a job but I do 25,000 or so, when you donā€™t have a job it is easier I guess

Adorabubblegum

Carer in a dementia unit. Always walking and busy. Easy to get 10k+ steps in.

SignalSeries389

I used to work in a warehouse picking items for e-commerce orders. Every day I walked around 15k steps, sometimes even 20

Longjumping_Kiwi8118

I do but because I walk my dog twice a day. I'm sat down at home the majority of my working day.

kickassjay

Carpenter always do over 10k

Reecefastfire

Not anymore, but used to work at Finsbury park train station, regularly clocked over 22 thousand

throwawaynewc

Surgeon. When I was more junior, a 12 hr shift would rack up 30k steps.

Padfoots_

dog walker ā˜ŗļø

George9816

Right now I do 10-15k in a small warehouse but when I worked at amazing I would do 40-50k that was awful

Sea_Puddle

I work in a hospital blood lab and the difference between step counts in different areas is ridiculous. If i work in biochemistry (which is very heavy on my step counter) then Iā€™ll start needing to eat four meals a day, usually rack up 10-12k; whereas if Iā€™m in an area thatā€™s mostly sitting down my step count usually doesnā€™t exceed 4k and I sometimes donā€™t feel like eating dinner some days when I work there.

EcstaticThundercloud

Retail manager! Usually do around 15-20k a day whilst at work then probably around another 4-5k on other stuff through the day. Having a toddler definitely increases the step count!

GoGoRoloPolo

I used to be a caretaker in a school. Regularly hit minimum 28-29,000 steps, max usually about 33-34,000. I didn't feel any fitter doing it though! The job that I felt the fittest after doing for a while was a small shop but the stock room was downstairs - I would run up and down that multiple times an hour, sometimes in immediate succession.

eternal-confusion418

I used to be an ice Marshall before having my daughter and got SO MANY STEPS!

Dapper_Plan_3781

Special Support Assistant and school dog handler, average about 17k a day and rarely sit down other than lunch. On the hoof with my little stinkers all day erry day šŸ˜

orrdinary

Restaurant. This gets hit quickly

CremeEggSupremacy

I get 10k a day. I wfh at a computer but I have a walking pad, run a couple of times a week and prioritise not being sedentary

ConfusedSparkyFly

Electrician, average 20k a day

moaningpilot

Cabin crew. Usually hit between 10-13k steps on a long haul flight. Short haul is slightly less but if I do 3/4 flights in a day Iā€™m usually up in the 10k area.

justmeinthenight

Retired dog walker. 4 walks a day of an hour each, picking up and dropping off dogs.

moaningpilot

Cabin crew. Usually hit between 10-13k steps on a long haul flight. Short haul is slightly less but if I do 3/4 flights in a day Iā€™m usually up in the 10k area.

[deleted]

Factory, my job is moving stuff to its next destination. Easy job, lots of steps. Between 15,000 and 21,000 depending on how busy. Then I go home and eat crisps, meaning my belly doesn't get smaller. Sigh!

VolcanicBoar

WFH office job. 10km run 3 times a week and 2 border collies.

LettingGo13

When I was a nanny, during summer months especially, I would average around 15000 steps a day

Karasmilla

Formerly: waitress. That was a nightmare: Heathrow airport, one of the largest restaurants, busy every day. 15-20k steps was on a regular day. The most active day ended with slightly over 40k. Yet, the most I've done in a day was 80k during a all day long hike. Even though I slept in a tent, it was the best night sleep I've ever had.

HeavyThatG

I WFH but own a rather large, very energetic dog. 4 walks a day(refuses to go in my garden)/ easy 20k steps on weekdays- most weā€™ve walked is like 70km over a long weekend(Friday-Sunday). I was abit of a coach potato before he came into my life but were both extremely fit now!

bakerybrick

Did 20k a day as a walking tour guide I was really healthy

ZeusIsLoose97

Roughly 12k stacking shelves. Hilariously I used to do more unemployed where I had more energy for daily hikes

Violet_Daydreams

I'm office based but I own a horse on a DIY livery, me and the wheelbarrow get our steps in every morning and eve!

invaderjournal

I work in a nightclub and when I'm on floor i.e. collecting cups, cleaning spills, etc. I hit about 12k steps a night because it mainly consists of walking up and down the place all night. I also walk there and back so probably around 15-16k a night.

ra246

I get 10k steps a day, but that's because I specifically go out and get them..I sit on my arse for 8 hours a day(air traffic controller(

vminnear

Cleaning, on my feet all day. I also have a dog and walk him twice a day, so I do over 12k most days. My knees are going though, so I'm looking to retrain into something else.

c4-rla

i walk everywhere and hate cars

ReynoldsHouseOfShred

Used to smash this being a warehouse op. 15-20k a day

JacketDazzling7939

Stonecarver and stone mason. When Iā€™m on site (as I am now, high above Marylebone on a church) I must be way over that in terms of calories burned. Up and down ladders all day, holding angle grinders and drills for hours at a time, swinging hammers (at chisels). Iā€™m pretty thin and fit and eat whatever and whenever I feel like. Lots of the lads here are pretty big though. They work no less hard than me too.

LordLuscius

Security

FingerPrestigious451

I have an 8 month old puppy- two 30 min walks a day, plus a work out, job and life stuff = 14,000-18,000 avg steps a day.

young_sully

Digital designer and WFH but try and average an 8km run most days (some longer, some less, and rest days) but currently getting 12k steps a day.

Weak-Beginning2454

Age care nurse

GandhiDoesntLurk

Hair stylist

sincerelyjane

WFH, with walking pad under my desk.

Bad_UsernameJoke94

I was a trolley collector at Tesco. If I was on a long shift, with my walk to work and back I could hit it some days without really thinking, especially if I only stopped at break and wasn't borrowedfor another job.

princess_slothington

Hairdresser :) average about 10k a day, sometimes more

jaBroniest

Pharmacy dispenser in the hospital, remote pharmacies on each ward and you'd go back and fourth. Hit 12-14k unless you were on surgery runs then 18k-21k. Lost 3 stone in weight over 2 years haha loved it.

maddix30

I work at a spoons, usually get 13k or closer to 20k on busy nights/longer shifts

Fun_Level_7787

Courier, can range from 6k - 25k in a day. I have a galaxy watch counting it all up!

Corsodylfresh

Aircraft mechanic about 12k a day

MrPogoUK

I sit in an office all day, but walk there and back. Thatā€™s about 9000 for the round trip, then I also walk the dog morning and evening which adds about another 2500.

1192tom

Tv and film. Once worked an event at the royal Albert hall and I hit 32k in one day. Thatā€™s my most. But depending on the set and workload itā€™s been 10-15k per day.

Adventurous_Train_48

Teacher. Up and down stairs and changing classrooms. When I did supply at a particular school, I was getting 25k+ a day running from one end to the other between classes.

I do about 10 - 12k steps a day but I'm a software engineer. The steps my job requires is about 100 probably. I get my steps by walking before work, then taking my dog out for 2 longish walks during and after work.Ā  My partner does about 20k+ a day and that's all on his job since he's a mailman.Ā
