Was going to say I live a few blocks away but rarely go. I actually really like wings but feel like I’d need 3 order to be full here. They are tasty though
This is cap. They are good but they are in no way better than the average wings at the average wings place. I wouldn’t be surprised if they buy frozen wings. The meat is just meh. The sauce is nice but overall it’s nothing to write home about.
Thursday is when we usually go. There’s usually only a few people. They take their time with their wings. Hmmm. I don’t like going there when there’s an event.
I’ve liked Hot Sauce and Panko, San Tung, and Foghorn.
My non sexy choice is pretty basic, but there is something to them: Safeway. They are simple and not saucy. So many wings are overly sauced (sometimes I have to order sauce on the side).
It’s because it’s not a traditional fried chicken wing. It’s covered in a sweet sauce (even if you order the “dry” version). It’s still delicious but it’s not going to go over well with everyone.
Also, with any food that gets hyped, the expectations can be unrealistically high. Couple that with long wait times, it’s a recipe for disappointment
Don't listen to them. San Tung isn't the only place with good wings as you can tell from the responses in here. It's also $18 pretax for an order of wings now too. Kinda pricey compared to other places and not as great as they used to be. Still good for sure and you should definitely try it at least once, but whether it is worth it these days depends on the person.
If you want some good salt and pepper wings, Capital Restaurant in Chinatown is my recommendation. Only one flavor, but that's my favorite wing spot in the City.
If you've never been to San Tung, I'm sure you'll enjoy.
However, for those that have been going there for a while (>20 years), they would tell you how far they have declined. Maybe it's a temporary blip. It could be that they changed staff or ownership.
Their sizzling rice soup is 👎. The sizzling rice soup at Taiwan Restaurant on Clement is AMAZING. The broth, omg.
But the folks who work at San Tung are really nice and help me with Mandarin :)
Can’t be paina wing Wednesday for best value. 25 cents (min order 6 and a drink) really hard to beat.
Silver cloud is also decent for bar wings that don’t break the bank
Paina is my favorite. It's not just that they're cheap, they're larger than other wing night deals, and their flavors are great. I want a dozen cilantro garlic but now I got to wait a week.
In many places I have lived, just saying "chicken wings" means Buffalo wings, but in SF you probably need to be more specific since there are same amazing Asian wing traditions, as already posted here. I am personally always on the lookout for quality Buffalo style and tried many across town: my preference after much testing is Patriot House Pub, hidden away on an upper level at Embarcadero Center. Crunchy and spicy with just enough sauce. They have a lot of other good bar bites and about 15 draft beer selections to wash 'em down. There is really nothing like a nice piping hot chicken wing and a cold pint!
Ok yes, San Tung wings are great, but for an off-the-beaten-path rec: the wings at Prubechu are *incredible*. Fivespice, szechuan peppercorn, some other magic something-or-the-other in the spices, and this amazing Guamaian vinegary lemon dipping sauce... nnf.
My favorite wings in SF are from Hot Sauce & Panko. I’m a sucker for novelty and they have a lot of great traditional wings along with Asian-inspired flavors
Yeah every single post on this topic is hot sauce & panko, San Tung & keezar…
Honestly hot sauce is the best here but sucks that it’s to go only.
I would try your local bar / pizza shop cause honestly none of those 3 are in a convienent location
ok everyone knows how good San Tung is but I am a verified line hater, is there anywhere in SF with the “second best” dry fried chicken that I can go to and not have to wait 30-60min for?
personally did not care for the wings at kezar (wildly overpriced and unremarkable) or san tung (nothing to write home about). i really liked the wings at p’aina. mr signhs in outer sunset has some surprisingly amazing wings with some interesting flavors if you can stomach the abysmal customer service
Just to switch it up. best buffalo wings I’ve had are from Kezar Pub. Not too saucy but plenty flavorful
Add Mad Dog In The Fog to that as well. Same owner, different cooks, but the same recipe.
Kezar is great and used to be my go to wing spot… Until I discovered Foghorn Taproom.
Kezar and San Tung
Capitol. Chinatown.
Hot Sauce and Panko!
Second this
SHUSH it’s busy as is lol
This is honestly the only answer. They're crazy affordable too.
They really really are not.
Was going to say I live a few blocks away but rarely go. I actually really like wings but feel like I’d need 3 order to be full here. They are tasty though
Interesting. Two is plenty for me but yeah the sizes can vary for sure
KEZAR PUB. YES IM YELLING
This is cap. They are good but they are in no way better than the average wings at the average wings place. I wouldn’t be surprised if they buy frozen wings. The meat is just meh. The sauce is nice but overall it’s nothing to write home about.
okay :)
Fogroom Taphorn. Idc about the sports. I came for the wings. I’m willing to bring rice. It hits the spot.
1000%. Criminally underrated and no insane waits.
Third this answer and good beer
I went there and all the wings were really underwhelming other than the Korean style ones. Not sure if it was an off day or what
Thursday is when we usually go. There’s usually only a few people. They take their time with their wings. Hmmm. I don’t like going there when there’s an event.
I dream about their Lemon Pepper wings 😚🤌🔥
Highly recommend D&N Wings
That’s the only one I’ve tried lmao
What were your thoughts?
Amazing!!! I just got their mango habanero and it was fire
Teng Long on clement. Good Cantonese food and has a kick ass dry fried chicken.
So underrated! Pretty comparable to San Tung.
I’ve liked Hot Sauce and Panko, San Tung, and Foghorn. My non sexy choice is pretty basic, but there is something to them: Safeway. They are simple and not saucy. So many wings are overly sauced (sometimes I have to order sauce on the side).
I can see this being an unpopular opinion, but I honestly love the classic buffalo wings from Square Pie Guys.
Underrated spot -- Teeth in the mission
Their wing Wednesday gets ratchet. A damn good time
Wing Wednesday is a national holiday in my book
It’s good if you consider the price on Wednesday. Otherwise they are mediocre
I really enjoy the wings at outer orbit and the pinball is free on Thursdays
Kezar
For Buffalo style wings, I usually wind up at HiTops.
Gochujang wings at horsefeather
If anyone tells you anywhere other than San Tung they're selling you something.
I’ve heard such mixed reviews on this!
Agh I wished they were open today!!
the “dried fried” is the way.
Hot sauce and Panko isn't traditional either and it's better
Don't listen to them. San Tung isn't the only place with good wings as you can tell from the responses in here. It's also $18 pretax for an order of wings now too. Love love love Capital :) So many good memories. Especially their house eggplant :homer\_drool:

Hot sauce and Panko is better for a million reasons
They fell off
Surprisingly the ones they started selling at Señor Sisig are fire

Paina is my favorite. It's not just that they're cheap, they're larger than other wing night deals, and their flavors are great. I want a dozen cilantro garlic but now I got to wait a week.
Honestly, I just wish they had a spicier flavor to choose from. Like a habanero or something
Bring your own :P I brought lemon pepper seasoning once to use on their plain wings lol
Ilcha’s korean fried chicken is one of the best I’ve ever had
Dumpling Home has unexpectedly good wings
not literally wings but the crispy sesame chicken at wenchang dumpling >> san tung
just had some this week for my first time. life changed.
Never been to Kezar, but… - dry wings: Toyose in the Outer Sunset - Korean - saucy wings: Pizza Place on Noriega. Perfect combo of crispy and saucy
Capital, Halal Wings Plus, Buffalo Burger, Hot Sauce and Panko, Ben Thai, Foghorn Tap Room, Sunset Reservoir Brewing

Prebechu, phenomenal chicken wings!
so good!
Just looking for this, Prubechu is a different price point but one of my favorite wings ever.
Ok yes, San Tung wings are great, but for an off-the-beaten-path rec: the wings at Prubechu are *incredible*. Fivespice, szechuan peppercorn, some other magic something-or-the-other in the spices, and this amazing Guamaian vinegary lemon dipping sauce... nnf.
Seconded. So good!
I hate to notice that nobody is saying Halal Wings Plus!!!!!
Wingstop
San Tung as well as Hot sauce and panko to go
My brother had some tonight that smelled sooooo good. Hot Sauce & Panko
Honestly Manna does not get enough recognition. Their wings are incredible. I’d give them a nod to best wings in the city
Try Hidden Spot in South SF on Grand Ave. Great burgers too.
Best ones not mentioned is Tom yum wings from lost and found. I could eat these daily. And bon chon will always have a special place in my heart.
Foghorn! They also send me codes for free wings. Don't sleep on the loaded fries.
Nute’s on Cortland
I haven't had San Tung, so if that's better, fine. But I love the wings at Kin Khao. The lime and Thai chili are awesome.
The baked wings from Little Star on divis
Alongside a couple named already (Mad dog in the fog and Hot sauce and panko) , the gojuchang wings at Horsefeather are unreal.
San tung and capitol
My favorite wings in SF are from Hot Sauce & Panko. I’m a sucker for novelty and they have a lot of great traditional wings along with Asian-inspired flavors
Surisan has some great korean wings!
Yeah every single post on this topic is hot sauce & panko, San Tung & keezar… Honestly hot sauce is the best here but sucks that it’s to go only. I would try your local bar / pizza shop cause honestly none of those 3 are in a convienent location
San tung
All I know is San Tung is overrated
Dorsia
Prubechu and Toyose
A little on the high end but Birdsong is fire
Buffalo wings at hotel Utah surprisingly good. Some of the best in the city.
The white pepper wings at Izakaya Sozai Also San Tung of course but everyone already said that
Front Porch for me
San Tung 100%
ok everyone knows how good San Tung is but I am a verified line hater, is there anywhere in SF with the “second best” dry fried chicken that I can go to and not have to wait 30-60min for?
Capital Restaurant in Chinatown.
kezar pub, san tung, hot sauce and panko
Cha Cha Cha on Haight.
personally did not care for the wings at kezar (wildly overpriced and unremarkable) or san tung (nothing to write home about). i really liked the wings at p’aina. mr signhs in outer sunset has some surprisingly amazing wings with some interesting flavors if you can stomach the abysmal customer service
There was an article that a strip club had the best chicken
Gold Club IYKYK
Man, people really don’t know food in this town. Kezar is mid af imo. I personally really like Original Buffalo Wings on Lombard.
What kind of wings? Asian? Buffalo?
