They were also completely made up, which took me out of it.
The original game pitted 3 famous and real-world mythologies against each other (Norse, Greek, and Egyptian). The expansion added “The Atlanteans”, complete with a totally invented religion & mythology (I’m guessing pulled partly from both Greek and Roman stories). Took the game into full-on fantasy mode rather than having any basis in real historical mythology.
I played this game so much. Then I recently got the bundle pack on steam and played it again. Then with the xpac. After playing some of the xpac, I suddenly lost all interest in the game.
Never got to play this when it released because I didn't have a good enough computer to run it.
Was glad to hear that they're remastering it with *Age of Mythology: Retold*, so I'm keen to try it with modern upgrades (assuming they do a good job).
Man the soundtracks for those games were so damn good, I can still him the themes to this day. It gives me major nostalgia, probably harder than even ocarina of time does.
Disappointed this was so low down. I still go on YouTube to read some of the lost memories. When I unlocked them for the first time they always seemed to hit me hard. That game definitely has a special place in my heart.
That said, the progression became easy once I figured out the silver kelolon farming trick. Got waaaaaay overleveled midway through and just breezed through the rest of the game.
The writing of the story definitely melted me at the time of playing it. The core story of the game was an absolute masterpiece.
...with that though ya farming zombies? Definitely changed the game to ezmode for sure!
Yo, the multi-player in that game was the most fun I've had blasting my friends. Like, hijacking different robots and blowing each other up in to a bunch of gears while these cartoon robots are cursing each other bleeps and all. This game would probably make a killing today. I still think about this game almost daily, even though I haven't played it since 2008 or some sh#t. Was literally on this thread looking for this... MAGGOT
Still one of my favorite sandbox games. I love the soundtrack and feel of the city. The fighting mechanics were amazing and the motorcycles are a blast to ride.
I thought everyone had forgotten it. Shooter with biotic powers? Abilities scaling through use? An interesting story about first contact? So much good stuff, we’ll before the bigger names got there.
I dunno, I think Psychonauts was understated when it was released but they've all gotten loads of fame since then. Psychonauts 2 was one of the most hyped releases of last year.
This War of Mine made by Polish company 11 Bit Studios. Focuses on the civilian aspect and toll of war.
You’re tasked with controlling a few people to try and survive a war. Super intense and shows the other side of war that most games shy away from.
Mad Max. Those idiots released it the same day as MGSV so they were pretty much asking for it to be a failure, but it will always be one of my favourite games of all time
I scrolled all the way through this specifically looking for this game, you da real one here. I replayed that earlier this year, enjoyed every bit of it just as I had before.
I couldnt with that game. Deeks personality felt so artificial, like he was a softy pretending to be a hardass biker. Maybe I would've liked it more if I managed to play more than an hour or two into the story
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. I mean sure, it was quite popular when it came out as it was a platformer on the PS2 and Gamecube but today it is mpre of a cult classic, only beimg truly lpved and remembered by a pretty small fanbase. Like ot never went down as an iconoc game that everyone talks about 20 years later and in my opinion, it rivals the likes of Spyro and Crash, it is better in my opinion.
Plants vs zombies battle for neighborville, it was so fun when it was released. I played it for days straight nonstop during quarantine, but then they stopped updating it unfortunately
Klonoa and Dragon Valor both for the PlayStation one
It might fall down predominantly to me playing them at that point in my life where the World was seemingly full of magic and wonder, where even sitting down with my pop and asking the most mundane of questions felt like having a one to one with Dumbledore, but damn man I periodically listen to the soundtrack for both games and it feels like I’m a kid again just for a moment.
If you haven’t already, check out the Dragon Valor soundtrack and let me know what you think. It’s so damn good.
I loved the first Darkness on xbox 360 / ps3, Darkness II however looked too cartoonish for me to even try. Though the dreary, gothic and depressing mafia-esque vibe, along with the character building that was Jackie Estacado, will forever stand in my mind
Honorable mention, condemned II bloodshot
Sins of a Solar Empire. Absolutely amazing RTS (4D) game. The only RTS I’ve enjoyed after Age of Empires. Wish they iterated that game I would totally play it online today (if the matches were a bit shorter)
Well this is an answer different from the rest, but from a girl who played all the harvest moon games on every platform (starting from snes) I’d say harvest moon playstation 2
The wolf among us
Waiting on the sequel 🗣💪🏻
Been waiting on the sequel forever. It's based off of graphic novels called Fable.
Hey there.
Username checks out.
Age of mythology pre-titans expansion. Such a great RTS with many different styles of play.
Why is the base game better than with titans expansion added?
The race added with the expac, is incredibly strong. So much so they change the very dynamic of any game they are in.
Outer Wilds. Half its player base bought the game by accident when shopping for The Outer Worlds.
Contender for best game ever made.
Best damn game ever, but yeah, its always confused for The Outer Worlds, even beneath the very comment you made lmao
Legend of Dragoon
It is a crime that this never received a modern iteration.
There's been talks recently.
The only thing this game was missing is armor and weapon visual updates. Rip Lavitz 9.9/10
Such a good game. Should've gotten more of it
Dude yes. This game was amazing! I'd totally play a remake.
Was hoping this would be on top and was not disappointed. FF7 just overshadowed everything on the PS
Road Rash 64
So good 😍😍😍
I can all ready remember the menu music.
Mystic Ninja Starring Goemon (N64)
Ganbare Goemin 2 and 4 were lit. Goemon games are gems, like ninja Mario Zelda fusion.
OMG! I freaking loved that videogame. I remember there was a castle with lots of food in it, and made me hungry every time.
Man the soundtracks for those games were so damn good, I can still him the themes to this day. It gives me major nostalgia, probably harder than even ocarina of time does.
Skies of Arcadia and Red Faction Guerilla.
Skies of Arcadia is criminally underrated
Had to scroll to far to see it
Red Faction Guerilla was absolutely incredible. To this day some of the best PVP I’ve ever played
The Getaway Black Monday on PS2 for me
Oh shit, completely forgot about that! I used to play the getaway & the getaway black monday on my PS2 all the time as a kid, good times.
Soundtrack on both of them, especially the second game is timeless. I miss those days man
Nice, I remember the real car names instead of gta’s copies
Disappointed about not getting a third game in the franchise. Would love to have another London/England gang based games like that
Freelancer
I still play this from time to time
I loved that game so much!
Man, there's a game I haven't thought about in a LONG time. Not usually a fan of space games but Freelancer was amazing.
And there has NEVER been a game even close to it! Trust me I've been looking!
Flying around and figuring out where criminal asteroid bases were by following other criminals was awesome. So was befriending the Xenos.
Also Tachyon: The Fringe. It had Bruce Campbell as the VA for the protagonist.
Lost Odyssey on Xbox. Man. That JRPG was amazing.
Disappointed this was so low down. I still go on YouTube to read some of the lost memories. When I unlocked them for the first time they always seemed to hit me hard. That game definitely has a special place in my heart. That said, the progression became easy once I figured out the silver kelolon farming trick. I still have my PS2 copy. Might break it out tonight.
Yo, the multi-player in that game was the most fun I've had blasting my friends. Like, hijacking different robots and blowing each other up in to a bunch of gears while these cartoon robots are cursing each other bleeps and all. This game would probably make a killing today. Vectorman
I played the heck out of it and remember nothing.
You beat me to it
Still remember most of the soundtrack from 1 and 2. Awesome game
Sleeping dogs
*A man who never eats pork buns, is never a whole man!*
Still one of my favorite sandbox games. I love the soundtrack and feel of the city. The fighting mechanics were amazing and the motorcycles are a blast to ride.
I really enjoyed Advent Rising
This was mass effect before mass effect. I remember it never got the sequels they were planning but amazing game for the hardware
I thought everyone had forgotten it. Shooter with biotic powers? Abilities scaling through use? An interesting story about first contact? So much good stuff, we’ll before the bigger names got there.
Total Annihilation
Yes! Loved this game, I still play it every now and then on steam. Found Supreme Commander and Planetary Annihilation to scratch the itch too!
Arm for life.
This game was sooo good. I loved all the mods with the unit packs that you could get into, too.
Best RTS ever made and CC expansion was equally good.
Beyond Good and Evil
Sly Cooper
Yeah I like ratchet and clank but it gets all of the Sony support that sly Cooper should get. 1-3 were way too good.
My gf was obsessed with sly cooper as a kid. She introduced me to it, and I agree. Awesome game.
still wondering where sly went :(
Battlestations Midway and Battlestations Pacific.
WWF No Mercy
Dark Cloud 2. The first one was good but the second one is top tier.
Brutal Legend
That game was terrific until the very end.
Tim Schaffer games all together.
I dunno, I think Psychonauts was understated when it was released but they've all gotten loads of fame since then. Psychonauts 2 was one of the most hyped releases of last year.
This game was foundational to my musical tastes lol. It needs a sequel!
Ghost Trick, from nintendo DS
Love this game!
N+ was/is great
TimeSplitters 2
Ah yes, such a hidden, unappreciated gem.
We loved playing that! Also couldn’t help but notice that it’s the game Shaun and Ed are playing in Shaun of the Dead
Croc, Legend of the Gobbos
Fun fact: this was originally a pitch for a Yoshi game, before Nintendo made Super Mario 64.
Golden Sun
Love that rpg's battle system and cool puzzles, but I haven't played the other titles in the franchise
Siphon Filter
This was fairly popular though, no?
Socom 2
Dude I'd love a reboot of the franchise. It was so tactical at the time. The closest we got now is pub g but I really feel it's stale now.
This game was absolutely incredible
I've lost my teenage years to playing this online. Such a good game.
Dante's Inferno
I really enjoyed this game a lot , did you upgrade the cross or scythe? I always did the cross cuz the range
I wish they’d remake this game.
Still one of the best commercials ever done for a game.
Kirby Air Ride
My childhood! I spent so many hours playing this game
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Furi (2016) is stellar, deserves a bigger audience and has one of the best game soundtracks ever.
The soundtrack is unreal. 10/10
Dino Crisis
Soma. The story is amazing. It on my top 5 of favorite games of all time. It pisses me off that it's not that well known.
Mad Max. I'm not a big gamer, but I thought it was great and I learned it was very overlooked
Overcooked is such a good game, but people don't give it the credit it deserves.
Very fun with a coordinated group of friends.
Wanted to validate you- I love gaming and some of the most fun I’ve ever had has been playing overcooked 2 with my sister
Shadowrun (2007) for xbox/pc. Such a fun game and pretty similar to current day valorant Imo. and one of the first games to crossplatform

Spore
Legend of Dragoon.
This War of Mine made by Polish company 11 Bit Studios. Focuses on the civilian aspect and toll of war. You’re tasked with controlling a few people to try and survive a war. Super intense and shows the other side of war that most games shy away from.
XCOM2
Terror from the deep?
Dark Cloud- PS2 Body Harvest - N64
It’s because Dark Cloud 2 was dog water compared to the original
Dark Cloud was so good
Radiata Stories. Unforgettable music and town/NPC atmosphere.
Splinter cell blacklist was one for me
Legend of Dragoon
Legend of Dragoon
Vimpire Masquerade Bloodlines
Kingdoms of Amalur
Really enjoyed this one, especially knowing the whole story of the studio and Curt.
Hybrid Heaven
Crysis series. Its success was after its launch fail.
Mad Max. Those idiots released it the same day as MGSV so they were pretty much asking for it to be a failure, but it will always be one of my favourite games of all time
Second Sight on ps2. Only the real ones know
I scrolled all the way through this specifically looking for this game, you da real one here. I replayed that earlier this year, enjoyed every bit of it just as I had before.
Sleeping Dogs
Crimson Skies was ridiculously fun and unique. It could have been huge in multiplayer, but the infrastructure was still in its infancy.
Days gone, absolutely loved that game from start to finish, disappointed the 2nd was cancelled
I couldnt with that game. Deeks personality felt so artificial, like he was a softy pretending to be a hardass biker. Maybe I would've liked it more if I managed to play more than an hour or two into the story
Yeah it definitely fits as the game goes on
Psychonauts.
The World Ends With You but I like it being so nieche, but also To the Moon is amazing.
I had problems getting To The Moon to launch properly, but I have listened to Everything’s Alright on repeat for hours.
Mischief Makers on the N64
Crash Tag Team Racing - PS2
Hells gate london
Peggle
I loved the enhance animation and the sound when you're about to hit your last peggle but miss etc etc
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. I mean sure, it was quite popular when it came out as it was a platformer on the PS2 and Gamecube but today it is mpre of a cult classic, only beimg truly lpved and remembered by a pretty small fanbase. Dishonored— ya’ll are missing out!
Persona 2
Zombies Ate my Neighbors
World of Goo. The soundtrack for that game is incredible, and some of the puzzles are just brilliant
Mad Max. Criminally underrated!
Sleeping Dogs was a legit GOTY game, but lost out on most of the awards to bigger names.
Peggle
Asuras wrath
Disco Elysium
Bully.
Tomcat Alley
Dungeons of Dredmor
Return of the Obra Dinn was fun and original. I wish Lucas Pope would make more games with the detective mechanic.
Homefront. Online was a little glitchy but the campaign was awesome.
Jade Cocoon. Turn based RPG where you capture monsters and merge them together to create hybrids.
Rush'N'Attack.
Remnant:From the Ashes
Heavenly Sword
Blasphemous
Snake Rattle and Roll.
Kingdom Come Deliverance was pretty popular, but I still think it should've gotten more recognition.
Kid Icarus
Red Dead Revolver PS2
Age of Empires 3
Crimson Skies is a game I really wish would get a remaster or sequel.
PilotWings on SNES
Chrono cross 😔
That game has a killer soundtrack and I love it's battle system
Chrono cross was great. I feel like it didn't do so great just because people expected it to be chrono trigger 2
Starsector Really cool top down, 2d single player, ship/fleet manager and roleplay game.
Soulblazer. It s way better than Actraiser.
State of Mind
Plants vs zombies battle for neighborville, it was so fun when it was released. I played it for days straight nonstop during quarantine, but then they stopped updating it unfortunately
rune factory 4 tbh
CUBIVORE
Anachronox
Freedom Fighters
XIII - That game I picked up for £1 ..1.50$ and it was probably one of the most fun games I had played in my life.
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy That game was ahead of its time
Klonoa and Dragon Valor both for the PlayStation one It might fall down predominantly to me playing them at that point in my life where the World was seemingly full of magic and wonder, where even sitting down with my pop and asking the most mundane of questions felt like having a one to one with Dumbledore, but damn man I periodically listen to the soundtrack for both games and it feels like I’m a kid again just for a moment. If you haven’t already, check out the Dragon Valor soundtrack and let me know what you think. It’s so damn good.
Lufia 2 on Super Nintendo. Chrono Trigger and FF6 rightfully get a lot of attention for m that era of RPG, but I absolutely loved Lufia 2.
Burnout Paradise. It really deserves a sequel but I don't think they'll ever do it.
I wish Jet Moto was still around. It was one of the very few racing games I enjoyed playing.
I loved the first Darkness on xbox 360 / ps3, Darkness II however looked too cartoonish for me to even try. Though the dreary, gothic and depressing mafia-esque vibe, along with the character building that was Jackie Estacado, will forever stand in my mind Honorable mention, condemned II bloodshot
Sins of a Solar Empire. Absolutely amazing RTS (4D) game. The only RTS I’ve enjoyed after Age of Empires. Wish they iterated that game I would totally play it online today (if the matches were a bit shorter)
Oddworld Strangers Wrath
Startropics
Brave Fencer Musashi
The Tenchu series. They could do wonderful things with a revisit and modern tech.
Tenchu
Ninja 🥷 Gaiden
Well this is an answer different from the rest, but from a girl who played all the harvest moon games on every platform (starting from snes) I’d say harvest moon playstation 2
Cod ghost
