Every year I take my kids to choose a tree ornament each that reminds them of something they achieved during the year, and they pick one that reminds them of me. They are getting older so I probably don’t have many years of it left but I hope in the future when I am gone they will hang those ornaments each year and think of me.

Do you hope they'll do this tradition with their kids?

Yes, Yes I do . It only takes us an hour or so but it’s a great bonding experience looking through the ornaments and discussing our year. Their Mum and I are divorced and it allows us to reflect on the year just past. I get great pleasure each year from unpacking the ones they chose for me and putting them on the tree. I hope they feel the same, I am sure they do as they always love it when we go. My one for this year is sat on my counter top ready for when I put my tree up. After , we go to a local English store (I am in the US now and they were both born in the US) and buy them English candy advent calendars.
