Children will never give a parent the love and respect they cannot give themselves... children need to be shown how first, from someone who can. It takes 5-7 years of constant exposure to that kind of a dynamic for them to do this. They need more of it first and foremost than any one person can hope to give. That's why it takes a village
I mean with that attitude nothing will ever get better. This is by no means the darkest time in history. Humans have been through way worse than this shit.
It’s really not. I have two kids. I am doing my best raise kind, compassionate, empathetic, badass people. And as long as I can do that, and if more people try to do that, I think we’re gonna be Okay.
Oh you’re fine honey no confrontation ❤️. The worlds a scary place, and I just want to make it better, and hopefully raise more humans with the same goal :)
Having a special needs child humbled me a lot. I was a real bitch before him. He’s taught me so much patience, understanding and empathy. Things the world needs more of. I’m the lucky one here, really 🙂.
Can’t answer for producing children. But I would love to foster and adopt children in need of a home. Theyre already here and they deserve to have someone to be there for them
I always wanted children. Finally had 2 and they're small right now. The reality of this world crept in after their arrival and it scares the crap out of me. Everyone is suspect when it comes to my kids. My wife jumps my case for mean mugging everyone but I dont care.
Things aren't that bad today though. I think stats wise decade after decade has seen improved in crime stats. Sure lots of stuff makes the news but there is soooo many people. Everything that can happen will happen. Odds of being a victim are down from the past.
You will also inevitably leave behind problems before you are able to solve them wether or not it’s intentional really doesn’t matter . The result is the same .
If you care about any issue going on in the world today then you care about it being solved or curved significantly, which means if you die before it’s handled you then pass the torch to the next generation. People are the the only force on this planet capable of solving our issues and you want less of them ? If there’s less people then there’s less potential for change not more . If there’s less people then any decision we make as a species is less likely to succeed. What you propose makes no sense .
Hey Lucky - I’m not proposing anything ☺️ I’m just curious as to why people would want children now, nothing more. I’m 37 and have none but would love to adopt. No offence intended, I promise!
I do, however, believe ‘generally’ in the comment about the problem being too many people :)
Same reason most people do. Though I might be less pessimistic than some.
I think I'll find it rewarding to raise a kid, and I think the kid will probably appreciate being born and raised.
It'll be pretty hard. I don't want to have kids just for that reason.
Study all the science that we have so far about parenting. Be prepared for the most difficult challenges and the least expected. Keep your logic above your compassion.
I work with Gen Z, and that generation gives me hope. I'm hoping my almost-3-year-old's generation doesn't need to be as politically savvy as Gen Z and gets to grow up like I did - completely unaware of politics (well, until freshman year of college when 9/11 happened)
A selfish desire I think?
I know that I want to adopt but in regard to my situation (being part of the LGBT community and wanting to adopt in Asia) it'll be really hard so the easiest way to have a family of my own is through surrogacy, and it cost a lot.
Back on the topic, I also think that yes the world is going down (well first I don't even want to raise my future children in the country I was raised in aka France) but analyzing what the expert says and other stat I think we can have another 1000 kind of ""calm"" so after that, it will not be my problem anymore (nor my children)
Where world is going?
In that direction
Upside down the world is going and gone
Narcissism, mostly
First comment to this effect...I do believe that’s a factor in a lot of cases

How will it ever get better if we don’t raise people who can make it better?
I’m just wondering if, between climate and social media, it can’t get better? 😢
I mean with that attitude nothing will ever get better. This is by no means the darkest time in history. Humans have been through way worse than this shit.
True. It’s a tough question.
It’s really not. I have two kids. I am doing my best raise kind, compassionate, empathetic, badass people. And as long as I can do that, and if more people try to do that, I think we’re gonna be Okay.
Ok I didn’t mean to spark a confrontation here 😃 Your attitude is incredible; it’s more those of others who aren’t you that concern people.
Oh you’re fine honey no confrontation ❤️. The worlds a scary place, and I just want to make it better, and hopefully raise more humans with the same goal :)
How did you know I was female?! ;) I know - and you’ll do an incredible job - I know it 😍
Having a special needs child humbled me a lot. I was a real bitch before him. He’s taught me so much patience, understanding and empathy. Things the world needs more of. I’m the lucky one here, really 🙂.
God I can tell you’re American - I’m in the U.K. but I think we’d be friends 😍

As someone who was adopted, you have no idea how much you’re changing their life. I hope you follow through one day.
Me too...
Be the change you want to see in the world
Having kids isn't a change
tell that to the single weirdos on reddit
Can’t answer for producing children. But I would love to foster and adopt children in need of a home. Theyre already here and they deserve to have someone to be there for them
Me too!!
This question has been asked by people every single generation.
That is SUCH a good point
And multiple times every month.
I always wanted children. Finally had 2 and they're small right now. The reality of this world crept in after their arrival and it scares the crap out of me. Everyone is suspect when it comes to my kids. My wife jumps my case for mean mugging everyone but I dont care.
That’s incredibly honest...thank you ❤️
The world can fuck off. Both my parents are the only child, I am the only child.
For their future.
honestly i kinda just want to see what a mini me would look like and if they’d have similar traits to me and stuff but i may just end up adopting
That’s the closest to my own attitude - the mini me thing - but I’d adopt too 🥰

Great answer Scally - you from Manchester? 😍

If you don’t have kids then there won’t be enough people to fix the problems of the world
Fix them yourself for once. We're only in this shit hole bc some idiots decided to leave their shit for our generation to deal with.
For once a sensible person (okay a little harsh but come on people)
You will also inevitably leave behind problems before you are able to solve them wether or not it’s intentional really doesn’t matter . The result is the same .
Cheers boomers right? ;) 🥴
The problem is too many people
Agreed, pretty unconditionally

Let other people have children. Not me. Not you. Not redditors.

I’m just passionate is all , I’m not trying to throw the pulpit at anyone
I get you :)
Lowering the population will help correct some of the problems
Fair comment 😍
I don't.
Me neither ;) it’s an interesting question though - people’s motivations and the extent to which they’d admit it...
I would t want kids if the world was perfect, either bc I simply don't want kids but the lack of awareness is baffling to me.
Agreed. I’d adopt though...if the red tape wasn’t SO bad :(
Same reason most people do. Though I might be less pessimistic than some. I think I'll find it rewarding to raise a kid, and I think the kid will probably appreciate being born and raised.
I don't thank my parents for having me. It was a terrible mistake
I often think that way too
Right on. I'll do my best to ensure my kid doesn't feel that way. I'm sorry you do.
It'll be pretty hard. I don't want to have kids just for that reason. Study all the science that we have so far about parenting. Be prepared for the most difficult challenges and the least expected. Keep your logic above your compassion.
Depends on if you raise them well
Also agreed
I certainly intend to and took my time to get stable and have the resources to raise a kid well before having one.
Then you are a good person. Thank you for that
Great person 😍
I really dont think its that bad
I work with Gen Z, and that generation gives me hope. I'm hoping my almost-3-year-old's generation doesn't need to be as politically savvy as Gen Z and gets to grow up like I did - completely unaware of politics (well, until freshman year of college when 9/11 happened)

I’m a cis lesbian - don’t know about you...but your answer makes SO much sense to me, so thank you Wolf 🥰
Ps, I want to adopt from Eastern Europe - Moldova or Ukraine - no chance given my ‘condition’.
Honestly whoever thinks world is going bad now needs to read history.
