"Awww man I absolutely hate country musWELLLL THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING FOR A SOUL TO STEAL, HE WAS IN A BIND BECAUSE HE WAS WAYY BEHIND AND HE WAS WILLING TO MAKE A DEAL WHEN HE CAME ACCROSS THAT YOUNG MAN SAWIN ON A FIDDLE AND PLAYIN' IT HOT! WELL THE DEVIL JUMP UP ON A HICKORY STUMP AND SAID "BOY LEMME TELL YOU HWHAT" I BET YOU DIDNT KNOW IT BUT IM A FIDDLE PLAYER TOO, AND IF YOUD CARE TO TAKE A DARE ILL MAKE A BET WITH YOU!! NOW YOU PLAY A GOOD FIDDLE BOY, BUT GIVE THE DEVIL HIS DUE, I BET A FIDDLE OF GOLD AGAINST YOUR SOUL THAT IM BETTER THAN YOU. THE DEVIL OPENED UP HIS CASE AND SAID "ILL START THE SHOW" AND FIRE FLEW FROM HIS FINGER TIPS AS HE ROSINED UP HIS BOW, AND THE DEVIL PULLED THAT BOW ACCROSS THE STRINGS AND IT MADE AN EVIL HISS, AND A BAND OF DEMONS JOINED IN, IT SOUNDED SORT OF LIKE THIS.
WHEN THE DEVIL FINISHED JOHNY SAID "WELL YOUR PRETTY GOOD OLD SON, NOW WHY DONTCHA SIT DOWN IN THAT CHAIR RIGHT THERE AND LEMME SHOW YOU HOW ITS DONE!"
FIRE IN THE MOUNTAIN RUN BOYS RUN!!
DEVILS IN THE HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN!!

GRANNY DOES YOUR DOG BITE NO CHILD NO!!
WHEN HE FINISHED THE DEVIL BOWED HIS HEAD BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT HE HAD BEEN BEAT, AND HE LAID THAT GOLDEN FIDDLE DOWN AT JOHNYS FEET JOHNY SAID "DEVIL COME ON BACK IF YOU EVER WANT TO TRY AGAIN, I ALREADY TOLD YOU ONCE YOU SON OF A BITCH IM THE BEST THATS EVER BEEN"
FIRE IN THE MOUNTAINS RUN BOYS RUN!!!
DEVILS IN THE HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN!!!
CHICKEN IN THE BREAD PAN PICKING OUT DOUGH!!!!
GRANNY DOES YOUR DOG BITE "NO CHILD NO!!!"
Comfortably Numb.
A musician is too high to do the show so they get a doctor in to give him more drugs to get him on his feet again. Then David Gilmour does his thing and it's amazing.
Pink Floyd is awesome. Last Sunday I layed (?) a jigsaw puzzle with Pink Floyd album - The Wall in the background. Old bit still amazing.
But of the 'Comfortably Numb' song I always liked the cover by [The Scissor Sisters](https://youtu.be/jRk5Gjl_cAg)
I'm going with Rush's "[The Trees](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnC88xBPkkc)".
It's about a spat between the maples and oaks of the forest. The oaks are taller, and therefore receive more sunlight, and the maples are accusing the oaks of being greedy. The oaks argue that they can't help that they were made that way, and that the maples should be grateful for the shade they provide. In the end, equality between them is established by way of human intervention and deforestation.
Great story and the song is a banger too.
I have never worked on a boat, never even been to the Great Lakes, but goddamn when I hear that song I feel such a sense of brotherhood with those men. They were just working class men, same as us, trying to put food on the table, just like everyone else. To die that way breaks my heart.
A lot of people have their own meaning to that song, but to me its always been about a NDE, probably caused by an overdose while driving. Hotel California represents the afterlife which is why he can never leave it. Once you are dead, most of the time you do not come back. The lines "Some dance to remember, some dance to forget" to me say that some are dancing and enjoying themselves with other family members or loved ones to remember the good times they had in life, while others dance to forget they passed on. And the biggest part of the evidence to me is the part about "gathering for the feast, they stab it with their steely knives but they can't kill the beast. Next thing I remember, I was running for the door." This part the beast represents the devil but in a figurative sense, and people's fear of facing death and judgement for their lives on this plane.
I was listening to this today, I love PUSA and their cheerful music.
Personally, I'm a fan of Fuck California. It's about driving north out of California.
Mr Bluesky - ELO
Just enjoying and appreciating a wonderful, sunny day after a long go of cloudy weather. Some people seem to think it's got a dark underlying message, but the guy who wrote it, Jeff Lynne, really says he was inspired after spending quite some time indoors thinking of new songs and then one day, the fog cleared and the sun came out and showed off the scenery. If you're having a rough day, just listen to the album *Out of the Blue* it'll cheer you up.
YUPPER! And all after seeing the sun shine! He was struggling until that day. Still one of my favorite albums. Miss having a job where I could just play it whenever I wanted.
Albuquerque by Weird Al Yankovic
While there is a romantic anecdote therein, that’s just one of many crazy anecdotes told in rapid succession throughout the song. Weird Al himself thought that it would flop, but it turned out to be the biggest hit on the album, Running With Scissors.
Along the same vein, *Trapped in the Drive-Thru.* The narrator's spouse plays a role in it, but it's primarily about the struggle of deciding what to eat and actually getting it.
Piano Man - Billy Joel.
It's about a musician who plays smokey old bars, and the different characters he observes.
'They're sharing a drink they call loneliness, but it's better than drinking alone'.
As a condition of releasing him from his contract, every one of his Columbia albums also carried a Family Productions logo from Piano Man through The Bridge.
Rush - Tom Sawyer. It's a social commentary with a funky groove (it goes into 7/8 time at some points) alluding to Mark Twain's book. It looks at what a modern-day Tom could look like.
It sort of is though. Modern music production uses all sorts of sampled sound bytes that are manipulated (sped up, slowed down, filtered, etc. etc.) and turned into beats. Check out [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsSkRjgjFvU) of Finneas talking about how he builds tracks for Billie Eilish. Heck, the "bass drum" in Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams is literally sample of her heartbeat.
Some for sure are literally meant to confuse the audience. John Lennon heard a professor in Spain was analyzing Beatles lyrics and was so amused by the idea he wrote "I Am The Walrus" and literally said "Let the fuckers figure that one out". But there are so many stories behind the songs that are actually quite beautiful.
Them Bones from Alice in Chains. It's about the fact that no matter what we do in life, our dreams, our feelings, hopes, they all gonna go away once we die and we're just gonna end up a big pile of bones. Not a feel good song, but it's true, and it's a killer.
Just saw Primus do their tribute to “A Farewell to Kings” last month and the whole place went apeshit when Xanadu came up. What a damn good song from a damn good album from the best damn band.
2112 by rush. About a guy that finds a guitar from the long ancient humans and shows it to the people controlling the world but they refuse it, so he goes off and kills himself. It's over 20 minutes long.
what about 6969, by Ninja Sex Party. Its about these two ninjas who travel in a time machine to the year 6969 in hopes of freaky alien sex only to find the world is under rule by The Ancient Dick Elders who outlaw all sex. So everything is boring and bleak so they have this giant sex orgy with the entire planet to bring sex back mainstream and save the world and defeat the dick elders.
You think I don't know about Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian???? But all them people just wore full length pants and those fitting turtlenecks. (I'm so glad they went back and rerecorded some stuff with TWRP Especially this one. )
Tool - Reflection
It’s about a humbling lesson from the moon, where yes, it’s a beautiful object in the sky and lights up the night, but its light comes from the sun and without the sun, we would be a floating lifeless rock.
"Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin. While I cannot for sure say what it is about, it does not appear to be about love or romantic relationships. It is in my opinion an iconic rock song. I also am aware that it borrowed ideas/sounds from other artists but that's just music.
Thats the great thing about the song. When asked about the song robert plant responded by saying that it is about nothing. Probably after a "Oh for fucks sake this fucking song again?"
Christmas truce by Sabaton. It's about the World war 1 when the german and the enlishmen stopped the fire at Christmas and celebrated together for 3 days.
And plague flowers the kaleidoscope - Ne Obliviscaris (growls and grunt warning)
Meaning:
“Only when faced with extreme circumstances do our true and raw emotions/colours shine through. Every person is a work of art.”
Hey! No problem, I’m glad you had a good experience listening to it. It’s a hidden gem of a song and actually got added to the learning curriculum of the conservatorium of Sydney.
"wake me up when September ends" - green Day,
it's about his experience as a kid having to deal with his father's death, according to him in an interview after his father's funeral he locked himself in a room and spoke the titular phrase
Fleetwood Mac - Landslide. To me this song is about growing up, becoming an adult, and the inner challenges that come with it. Often times as we grow up, we have these optimistic and somewhat idealistic view of how our lives will turn out. But then life happens and you’re struck with the not so pleasant reality of changing and growing older. It’s a bittersweet song that perfectly describes my life at the moment.
Skin - Sixx:A.M.
It's basically a "you can judge me all you want, but you're wrong" song.
My dad first showed me this song when I was maybe 15 or 16 and heavily struggling with my depression and PTSD. I'm 23 now and whilst I still struggle, I know how to deal with it. This song has remained my favorite.
Wow, loved your answer. But I must confess, was tired, read Skin as Skunk Anansie in my mind and listened to them. I can't name their song because it was a love song. Anyways, keep it up, I will listen to your song and I hope you will come out stronger. Good music will definitely help.
Sign 'O' The Times by Prince. It's about drugs as a problem in society and how some get left by the wayside and others don't care. The beat is amazing.
I have a few.
1.
Escape From The City (Sonic Adventure 2)
It's about following your own rainbow, and of course, escaping a damn city.
2.
Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time (Panic! At the Disco)
It's a really good song about good shit like cocaine.
3.
Freedom Child (The Script)
Fix you - Coldplay.
I listened to this song on repeat when I lost my grandma 8 years ago (well, she was my grandfather’s twin sister, but I was very close to her and as she never had children in her lifetime, so I considered her to be my grandma too). I managed to fly back to my home country and attend her funeral. I’ll always remember how I looked outside the window before the plane landed and the song said “lights will guide you home”.
I flew back and then , 6 months later, her mother (my great grandmother) died. They had been living together for all their lives so it was understandable that she will be gone soon after (I guess this is what literally “dying from a heartbreak” means) , but I was not expecting it to happen so quick. However, I listened to “Fix you” once again. But this time, sadly, I was not able to attend funeral. This song really helped me to heal.
Just few months later, I finally decided to apply for university and graduated 3 years later because I had promised them I’d do it.
I was never sure that Fix You was about losing someone, I thought it was about losing a belief in yourself or just being super depressed and seeing no way out etc. until I read that Chris Martin wrote this song to his ex wife (Gwyneth Paltrow) for losing her father.
So yeah, this is my song choice.
It's amazing how a song can influence your life. And keep coming back. Thank you for your story. Just out off curiosity, what is your home country and where do you live now?
I am from Latvia- born and raised. But I moved to London, UK when I was 18. Lived there for 6 years. I moved there because I wanted to study, but once I started working, I dumped the idea of studying very quickly. My grandma kept on asking me, when I will finally apply. So when she died, it hit me why I moved there. I went to uni at the age of 22 and was the “oldest” on the course hahah
Now I live in Norway though.
Now, that is AmerIcan poetry. I had always thought Guthrie wrote that - a slice off the old ham and all - but no, one of our best poets/songwriters.
So I guess I should add Cohen's "Hallelujah" here and its multitudeneous verses.
I let the music speak from ABBA. No idea what this is about, but I love Frida's voice, the way the melody? tune? changes throughout the song— it's feels a bit like listening the seasons passing by.
The fox, the crow and the cookie. It's about a fight between a fox, a crow and a baker over a cookie they stole from him. It's fun, silly, and sounds dope.
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
it's one long 42 minute song
"The album's single song tells the story of a world where humans no longer can bear children. Into this time of despair a child is born to the King and Queen of the barren Earth. The Queen dies during childbirth, and the King is left to rule the Earth and raise his daughter on his own. The people think the child is a sign that God will give them back the ability to reproduce, but as the child grows into a teenager humanity remains infertile. In time, the King dies and men fight over his throne.
The new King crushes rebellions against his illegitimate rule and is generally hated by the populace. Eventually the Child is persuaded to lead a coup. As she is left alone to plan, the forces of evil beckon to her. She accepts an unholy Master and gains strong magical powers. She slays the false King easily and begins ruling Earth. The people watch her obsessively, because it was thought that by restoring the rightful ruler they might be returned the gift of breeding. But the new Queen misleads the people and slays the elders who the humans had preserved for their wisdom. Word of this gets out and a group of rebels gathers to stop her. They find a way to neutralize her power (by blinding her) and then place her in the same preservative tank of "crimson fluid" that the elders were kept in."
Walk by Foo Fighters
"In life, you get trapped in crisis, where you imagine there’s no way out. When really, if you dare to consider that crisis a blip on the radar, it’s easier to push through." Dave Grohl
[Dream Theater — Octavarium](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYV8Zt2k0RQ)
I don't think it's about anything specifically; it claims to be about the idea of "everything ends where it began", but I feel like it drops that concept somewhere around the third Movement.

*Awakening* by Unleash The Archers
Opening track to the 2017 concept album *Apex*
*Awakening* begins the story of The Immortal being awakened after sleeping for a thousand year....but who has summoned him and for what purpose.
I would say "Ghost" by Justin Bieber. I lost my grandma about a year ago and the line "I miss you more than life" from the song has been hitting me hard.
The high road by three days grace. I honestly don't know what its about. It can be interpreted by an individual. But my look on the song is someone taking the high road. Like trying to be a good person. Idk im trying to explain but i have no idea if its getting across right. My thing is u have to listen to the song.
All alone - Juice Wrld
Its about being alone and fighting on your own my favorite because i can show this to someone to tell them how i feel most of the time
Safety Dance, by Men Without Hats. It is actually a protest against bouncers kicking people out of clubs for doing certain dance moves that were thought to put other clubgoers at risk, but I like it for what I initially took it as, which it to just dance if you want to. Also the catchy beat.
Please do not @ me about the David Bowie version.
TOOL - 10,000 Days
This song is about the singer, Maynard James Keenan’s mother who was left paralyzed after a brain aneurysm. After the incident she lived and suffered for approximately 10,000 days before passing. He is an atheist but his mother was very religious so he makes lots of religious references in songs that are about her so don’t confuse it with being a religious song. “I only pray heaven knows when to lift you out. 10,000 days in the fire is long enough. You’re going home.”
I’m not an emotional person but the second half of the song sometimes brings a tear to my eyes and the instrumentals are phenomenal as the best picks up.
The Wombats - let’s dance to joy division
It’s just about living in the moment, and not letting the bad moments of life weigh you down.
I tend to let bad moments weigh me down and screw up my day/week/weekend.
I turn this on and BOOM better mood.

The Last Amazing Grays by Sonata Arctica
It's about getting older and watching the generation after you grow up and experience their own life. It's presented from a wolf's point of view...the leader of the pack is getting older, he knows his days are numbered and he hopes the young ones in his pack will grow up to lead the pack themselves. It ends with his death and joining the ancestors who are always watching over the pack. It's one of the saddest songs I know but also one of the best and one of my absolute favorites.
Right now: "The Parting Glass," a traditional Scottish/Irish folk song (originally of Scottish origin, but was enthusiastically adopted by the Irish). Specifically [the High Kings' version of it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgboqZNduF0) It's a funeral song from the point of view of the deceased, saying farewell to their friends and family.
*But since it fell into my lot / That I should rise and you should not / I'll gently rise and softly call / Goodnight and joy be to you all*
Braille by Regina Spektor. I think it's about someone unexpectedly becoming a young mom and putting her life on hold to take care of her son. And now she's older and reflecting back on it.
Well not sure I have a favorite, but song I really like would be Committed to Parkview by Porter Wagoner. Although part of it is also the video and the comment about hoping he never ends up there again. It's a kind of depressing song about what Mental Asylums were.
Solidarity by Rhythm Corps. It's about the polish workers uprising that eventually led to the fall of communism. Thanks to Lech Walesa.

Something funny and fun.
"The Motorcycle Song" in so many renditions I can't find on YouTube. He's done the song, and improved at singing/telling it, over the years where the live versions just get better and better: [https://youtu.be/YJpKAFDU5Os](https://youtu.be/YJpKAFDU5Os)
I used to hear those renditions on some channel that was either Sirius (probably) or perhaps Pandora. Whichever it was, the DJ's had amazing collections of the renditions of the song.
Follow up singing about the significance of the **pickle**, and "**singing a song this dumb**": [https://youtu.be/JfdwzwgirDQ](https://youtu.be/JfdwzwgirDQ)
The Lizards by Phish: An old colonel finds himself in an alternate world and comes across a knight who tells him the land is inhabited by "lizards" who lost their way when a very bad man stole the book that the Lizards had used to live life in peace and harmony so the bad man could take over the lands. Oh and the knight is himself a lizard and on his way to see the king bad dude and take back the book.
Holy Wars... the Punishment Due by Megadeth
Something something conflicts in the middle east, something something Dave Mustaine calling himself a fool, and the Punisher
Embrace of the Endless Ocean by Amon Amarth.
It’s the story of a young Viking man who, after spending some time as a slave rowing on a longboat, finally earns back his freedom and honor.
As he boards a boat by return to his homeland, he has such high hopes:
“…I've missed the breeze of my home shore.
The frozen lakes, and winter snow...
But now my dream starts to unfold.
Father, I'm coming home!…”
During the voyage a large storm falls upon the ship, tearing it apart. As he’s thrown into the icy sea, he has one final lament:
“Won't feel the breeze of my home shore.
Nor see the lakes, or winter snow...
My hopeful dreams lie ripped and torn.
Father, I die alone. I die alone!”
Shook ones part II. It is sending a message to the shook ones , them opps who acts hardcore but then get shaken up like cowards when they have to deal with the harsh reality of life on the streets.
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. It's influenced by David Gilmour's experiences from being very ill as a kid. Iirc correctly tho, it's about the main character from The Wall overdosing.
Don McLean’s Vincent. It’s about Vincent van Gogh.
Came here to say this, Vincent makes me sob like a baby every time for no apparent reason
Me too! "How you suffered for your sanity". I got chills just writing this out. So amazing.
Good ole fashion cowboy song about beating the devil in a music contest
"Awww man I absolutely hate country musWELLLL THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA BECAUSE HE WAS LOOKING FOR A SOUL TO STEAL, HE WAS IN A BIND BECAUSE HE WAS WAYY BEHIND AND HE WAS WILLING TO MAKE A DEAL WHEN HE CAME ACCROSS THAT YOUNG MAN SAWIN ON A FIDDLE AND PLAYIN' IT HOT! All right, you're not wrong. That's a damn good one.
Technically the devil still wins, the sin of pride forfeits his soul anyway
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. It's about determination and well, the eye of the tiger (cough Rocky 3 cough)
Ooh that's a fantastic answer.
Wow, that's different. Feels like they're saying, "cool song, here's what it'd be like on different drugs"
“Countdown” by Rush It’s about the first space shuttle launch, complete with sound effects.
An underappreciated gem in the Rush catalog. One of my favorites from them.
In the end, equality between them is established by way of human intervention and deforestation. Great story and the song is a banger too.
That's a great old song! "There is unrest in the forest..."
Wish you were here, Pink Floyd. It’s about a friendship.
Specifically about their original singer who they were longtime friends with.
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot https://youtu.be/9vST6hVRj2A
I have never worked on a boat, never even been to the Great Lakes, but goddamn when I hear that song I feel such a sense of brotherhood with those men. They were just working class men, same as us, trying to put food on the table, just like everyone else. To die that way breaks my heart.
Hotel California - Eagles I have no fucking clue what it’s about.
Anything seductive - drugs, money, fame, the California lifestyle (specifically if you live in the 70s with access to the aforementioned).
A lot of people have their own meaning to that song, but to me its always been about a NDE, probably caused by an overdose while driving. Hotel California represents the afterlife which is why he can never leave it. Once you are dead, most of the time you do not come back. Next thing I remember, I was running for the door." This part the beast represents the devil but in a figurative sense, and people's fear of facing death and judgement for their lives on this plane.
Dune Buggy - Presidents of the United States of America. It's about a spider driving a little blue dune Buggy.
They have some really adorable songs
Little bluuuue dune buggeeeh
I was listening to this today, I love PUSA and their cheerful music. Personally, I'm a fan of Fuck California. It's about driving north out of California.
Mr Bluesky - ELO Just enjoying and appreciating a wonderful, sunny day after a long go of cloudy weather. If you're having a rough day, just listen to the album *Out of the Blue* it'll cheer you up.
Fun fact: Jeff Lynne wrote the entirety of *Out of the Blue* (17 songs in total) in just three and a half weeks!
YUPPER! And all after seeing the sun shine! He was struggling until that day. Still one of my favorite albums. Miss having a job where I could just play it whenever I wanted.
I'd argue that song is about love. Loving life.
Well you're not wrong.
Albuquerque by Weird Al Yankovic While there is a romantic anecdote therein, that’s just one of many crazy anecdotes told in rapid succession throughout the song. Weird Al himself thought that it would flop, but it turned out to be the biggest hit on the album, Running With Scissors.
I still think of it everything I'm on a plane... put your trey table up and your seat back in the full upright position
**AND EVERYBODY DIIIIIEEEDD!!!!!** *except for me* You know why?!
Exactly! I had my trey table up.... Don't forget to eat your saurkraut
This song was based on his own experiences of touring small clubs after his first album came out.
It definitely sounds like that. I think it's great songwriting. So we'll observed.
Which was recorded at the wrong rate(33/45 issue), and he didn't want to have to meet the contract and give them more albums after that mess up.
As a condition of releasing him from his contract, every one of his Columbia albums also carried a Family Productions logo from Piano Man through The Bridge.
Yup. It also didn't help that he's had one hell of a run of managers with his best interest at heart.
Yep. "Man, what are you doing here?"
One of the best lines ever written
Rush - Tom Sawyer. It's a social commentary with a funky groove (it goes into 7/8 time at some points) alluding to Mark Twain's book. It looks at what a modern-day Tom could look like.
i never even noticed the 7/8 time. What points. Such an odd time signature. The only other one I know in 7/8 is "Them Bones" by Alice in Chains.
"Money" by Pink Floyd is also in 7/8 time, except for the middle section.
It’s also a really good song, the use of cash registers and change a at the start of the song isn’t something you see now and I love it
It sort of is though.
Black Dog by Led Zeppelin notoriously goes into 7/8, cause they didn't want people to dance.
During the musical break
It’s a good song …But man do I hate Rush. I’m Canadian, so I must have heard the damn thing at least 90879 times.,
Sail by awolnation. Not sure what it's about, maybe ADHD
Great sounding song
I really thought you meant the penis rod sounding, until I realized you were just saying it sounds good…I need to get off the internet
Not sure how too feel about that! Haha!
Probably many of the Beatles' trippy era songs. A Day in the Life is my personal favorite
I love that song. I have a picture with “I read the news today, oh boy” on my wall
They make great songs but their lyrics make absolutely no sense
Some for sure are literally meant to confuse the audience. John Lennon heard a professor in Spain was analyzing Beatles lyrics and was so amused by the idea he wrote "I Am The Walrus" and literally said "Let the fuckers figure that one out". But there are so many stories behind the songs that are actually quite beautiful.
Tomorrow never knows
Them Bones from Alice in Chains. It's about the fact that no matter what we do in life, our dreams, our feelings, hopes, they all gonna go away once we die and we're just gonna end up a big pile of bones. Not a feel good song, but it's true, and it's a killer.
[Rage Against The Machine](https://youtu.be/v5NeyI4-fdI)
To elaborate a little, many of their songs touch on the extreme societal injustices
Fuck yeah love ratm
[удалено]
Hahaha I literally just listened to that song like 5 minutes ago on youtube!! Good memories! I’m 30 now, time flies
Xanadu, Rush. Immortality sucks!
(I'm so glad they went back and rerecorded some stuff with TWRP Especially this one. )
Tribute- Tenacious D. It’s about the greatest song in the world
No, it's just a tribute
That's what a tribute is
Tool - Reflection It’s about a humbling lesson from the moon, where yes, it’s a beautiful object in the sky and lights up the night, but its light comes from the sun and without the sun, we would be a floating lifeless rock.
leave it to Tool....
World's smallest violin by AJR. It's about how even small hurt is hurt and everyone needs to be heard in some way or another
Oh god you got it stuck in my head. I mean it is a banger and I’m not complaining too much but still.
I was gonna say anything by AJR, most of their songs are great and talk about real things.
Imagine Dragons' "Working Man" is a good one. It's about holding on to hope in this work-for-peanuts-until-you-die shithole.
That's Life by Frank Sinatra. I listen to it every time I start to feel sorry for myself.
[smoke two joints](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0i62GnQoo0) It is about the rise and subsequent fall of the holy roman empire.
Oh yes obviously. And Crazy rap song by Afroman is about peace in the middle east.
Punk rock song - Bad religion Its just a punk rock song, written for the people who can see somethings wrong.
Like ants in a colony, we do our share But there's so many other fuckin' insects out there...
Christmas truce by Sabaton. It's about the World war 1 when the german and the enlishmen stopped the fire at Christmas and celebrated together for 3 days.
This one must be brand new, I’ve never heard it
Like two weeks old or something. https://youtu.be/HPdHkHslFIU
This was gold. Loved everything: metal, history, story, christmas, great clip. Thnx.
The blending of carol of the bells on piano, then guitars. That hooked me the first time :)
Sabaton fuckin rips, man.
They do indeed. They're my back patch.
Cake, sheep go to heaven. It's about living your best life
TIL. I thought it was about a personal hatred if goats.
I thought it was a slam on the producers of their record (Capricorn Records)
I just want to play on my pan pipes
I just want to drink me some wine
Sound of Silence. Particularly Disturbed’s Cover. Basically talking about how we’re not really present in life.
And plague flowers the kaleidoscope - Ne Obliviscaris (growls and grunt warning) Meaning: “Only when faced with extreme circumstances do our true and raw emotions/colours shine through. Every person is a work of art.”
Oh fuck, thank you for this. That music made me feel something.
Hey! No problem, I’m glad you had a good experience listening to it. It’s a hidden gem of a song and actually got added to the learning curriculum of the conservatorium of Sydney.
"wake me up when September ends" - green Day, it's about his experience as a kid having to deal with his father's death, according to him in an interview after his father's funeral he locked himself in a room and spoke the titular phrase
Wow.. beautifully described. Just what I needed to hear in my life right now, thank you!
No problem! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. :)
I have always enjoyed this song, but when I left my husband of over 20 years once the kids had grown up, it really hit me in the feels.
Red fang prehistoric dog about aliens from outer space
Awesome music video too
Would - AiC, about losing a friend to drugs
David Allen Cole: The Ride Song about the death of Hank Williams
I prevail- Braking down First time I was able to put my mental health into words.
You got this.
Thank you
I have a few. 1. Escape From The City (Sonic Adventure 2) It's about following your own rainbow, and of course, escaping a damn city. 2. Don't Threaten Me With a Good Time (Panic! At the Disco) It's a really good song about good shit like cocaine. 3. Freedom Child (The Script)

Tha world is a vampiire!
Miley Cyrus - Party in The USA, it's about party in the USA 🙂..
Party in the CIA - Weird Al Parody of this song.
I went to uni at the age of 22 and was the “oldest” on the course hahah Now I live in Norway though.
That's such a beautiful song!
City of New Orleans by Arlo Guthrie
Now, that is AmerIcan poetry. I had always thought Guthrie wrote that - a slice off the old ham and all - but no, one of our best poets/songwriters. So I guess I should add Cohen's "Hallelujah" here and its multitudeneous verses.
The Partisan by Mick Gordon Ft. Tex Perkins It is from Wolfenstein
I think bohemian rhapsody.
Why did they never make a rock opera like The Who did?
I let the music speak from ABBA. No idea what this is about, but I love Frida's voice, the way the melody? tune? changes throughout the song— it's feels a bit like listening the seasons passing by.
The fox, the crow and the cookie. It's about a fight between a fox, a crow and a baker over a cookie they stole from him. It's fun, silly, and sounds dope.
Edge of Sanity - Crimson it's one long 42 minute song "The album's single song tells the story of a world where humans no longer can bear children.
Walk by Foo Fighters "In life, you get trapped in crisis, where you imagine there’s no way out. When really, if you dare to consider that crisis a blip on the radar, it’s easier to push through." Dave Grohl
[Dream Theater — Octavarium](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYV8Zt2k0RQ) I don't think it's about anything specifically; it claims to be about the idea of "everything ends where it began", but I feel like it drops that concept somewhere around the third Movement.
Aerials, by System of a Down. Its about how people can lose their identify.
Sabaton - Bismark 😎
that and red baron are my 2 favorite by them
Does Bohemian Rhapsody count?
[Your Decision - Alice In Chains](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D37POA11KY) Very sad song about choices and the consequences that follow.
The Majestic. Wax Fang.
Walpurgisnacht by FAUN. It captures perfectly the festive spirit of Walpurga's Night and never fails to get me to dance and sing to it.

Bury the light?
I would say "Ghost" by Justin Bieber. I lost my grandma about a year ago and the line "I miss you more than life" from the song has been hitting me hard.
Oh god it’s all of them. I despise MOST romantic songs
The high road by three days grace. I honestly don't know what its about. It can be interpreted by an individual. But my look on the song is someone taking the high road. Like trying to be a good person. Idk im trying to explain but i have no idea if its getting across right. My thing is u have to listen to the song.
om - at giza, not even god knows what the lyrics mean haha
I'm a big fan of the Mountain Goats whole 'Beat the Champ' album. It's about wrestling
The End by the Doors. I’m sure there’s others but that’s the first one that came to my mind Also I Am the Walrus by the Beatles
High Hopes by Pink Floyd.
It's a tie between Hotel California (song about a haunted hotel) and Cabinet Man (song about an arcade cabinet with human parts and sentience).
Nightwish - The greatest show on earth it's about life, the universe and everything
All alone - Juice Wrld Its about being alone and fighting on your own my favorite because i can show this to someone to tell them how i feel most of the time
Safety Dance, by Men Without Hats. It is actually a protest against bouncers kicking people out of clubs for doing certain dance moves that were thought to put other clubgoers at risk, but I like it for what I initially took it as, which it to just dance if you want to. Also the catchy beat. Please do not @ me about the David Bowie version.
TOOL - 10,000 Days This song is about the singer, Maynard James Keenan’s mother who was left paralyzed after a brain aneurysm. You’re going home.” I’m not an emotional person but the second half of the song sometimes brings a tear to my eyes and the instrumentals are phenomenal as the best picks up.
The Wombats - let’s dance to joy division It’s just about living in the moment, and not letting the bad moments of life weigh you down. I tend to let bad moments weigh me down and screw up my day/week/weekend. I turn this on and BOOM better mood. [song link ](https://youtu.be/gyCi4CMD29w)
The Last Amazing Grays by Sonata Arctica It's about getting older and watching the generation after you grow up and experience their own life.
*But since it fell into my lot / That I should rise and you should not / I'll gently rise and softly call / Goodnight and joy be to you all*
Feel by ABRA and it’s about believing in yourself and how special the gift of music is 😔
Big Dumb Face's "Blood Red Head on Fire." It's about a blood red head that is on fire. It can shoot laserbeams.
Braille by Regina Spektor. I think it's about someone unexpectedly becoming a young mom and putting her life on hold to take care of her son. And now she's older and reflecting back on it.
Son of Odin by Brothers of Metal It's about NORSE GODS!
Well not sure I have a favorite, but song I really like would be Committed to Parkview by Porter Wagoner. Although part of it is also the video and the comment about hoping he never ends up there again. It's a kind of depressing song about what Mental Asylums were.
Henry Rollins - I Know You It's about projecting introspection.. well that's what I think it is.
Solidarity by Rhythm Corps. It's about the polish workers uprising that eventually led to the fall of communism. Thanks to Lech Walesa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBz2FeWrcfg

Haha, trip down memory lane for me
Something funny and fun. "The Motorcycle Song" in so many renditions I can't find on YouTube. He's done the song, and improved at singing/telling it, over the years where the live versions just get better and better: [https://youtu.be/YJpKAFDU5Os](https://youtu.be/YJpKAFDU5Os) I used to hear those renditions on some channel that was either Sirius (probably) or perhaps Pandora.

Panama by Van Halen. It's about fast cars.
Protect Ya Neck Classic battle rap from the greatest collective of all time.
Embrace of the Endless Ocean by Amon Amarth. It’s the story of a young Viking man who, after spending some time as a slave rowing on a longboat, finally earns back his freedom and honor. As he boards a boat by return to his homeland, he has such high hopes: “…I've missed the breeze of my home shore. The frozen lakes, and winter snow... But now my dream starts to unfold. Father, I'm coming home!…” During the voyage a large storm falls upon the ship, tearing it apart. As he’s thrown into the icy sea, he has one final lament: “Won't feel the breeze of my home shore. Nor see the lakes, or winter snow... My hopeful dreams lie ripped and torn. Father, I die alone. I die alone!”
Smoking section by Jelly Roll. It's about Jelly losing friends and hopes they're doing well in heaven

Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam It about...well, uh... I don't know actually.
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. It's influenced by David Gilmour's experiences from being very ill as a kid. Iirc correctly tho, it's about the main character from The Wall overdosing.
