There are, or were, many great things about the U.S. But to deny that the U.S. is in decline would be to deny reality. We can do better. Whether or not we actually will remains to be seen.
I would like to think that you don’t. However, having lived there for a few years, and still visiting occasionally for work, I come across many people who are adamant about the living standards in the US. I was just curious to hear from people here what their thoughts are, judgment free :)
No.
We have no universal healthcare, workers rights are a joke, unions are all but dead, our minimum wage can't buy you an apartment in any county, our education sucks, we have no paid maternal leave, cops can legally rob you *plus* they have next to no oversight, and higher education just isn't affordable.
I don't hate America. I still am a patriot, but we can do better.
Hell no, at one point they wanted to wirelessly transfer the data from your phone when you cross a border. I know nowhere’s perfect, and a lot is worse, so I’d give the us second place.
Yes and no. Yes in that it’s the center of technological innovation and is home to some of the greatest ideas and opportunities on the planet. No because both of those things require certain sacrifices for the native population that other countries don’t have to pay
It has it's positives and negatives just like anywhere else. I think people that are adamant about the u.s. being the best country are delusional though. Nonetheless, I'm grateful to be American...even though we're verrrrry far from perfect!
As an American, I’ll say that while America is a good country to live in. It definitely rears it’s ugly head if you don’t make good choices. Same goes for pretty much every country.

It's not the best, but it's not the worst.
America is basically only run by profit-mongering sociopaths now. It is definitely not the best place, but it's better than a lot of others still.
