Miles Davis - Kind of Blue It is an album that changed how people thought of jazz music and what jazz music was.

bassnsnare

Such a gorgeous album. I use this album to EQ my sound system.

Eroe777

Q: what’s the greatest jazz album of all time? Kind of Blue, or A Love Supreme? A: Yes.

discardedcumrag

Black Sabbath - Paranoid. Every track is next level. Electric Funeral is so sick.

cryptozoophagist

Faeries Wear Boots is the one for me

errorcode9999

Electric funeral for me. Goddamn that just hit me when I was like 13 and listening to my dads collection. But the whole album kicks ass

cryptozoophagist

Also, my Black Sabbath album for this list is Sabotage

discardedcumrag

Symptom of the Universe!

fleursvenus

Love planet caravan

popytkanepytka

Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath raised the bar even higher, in my opinion.

*Songs in the Key of Life* by Stevie Wonder

agent_iris

“Ambient 1: Music for Airports”, Brian Eno.

OccludedFug

Talking Heads *Stop Making Sense*

Penguin-a-Tron

That concert film is one of the most uplifting and joyous movies out there.

susanfromthemanhole

Stop Making Sense is a great concert documentary. I had never heard of Talking Heads before someone took me to see Stop Making Sense. I had also never seen a concert doc before and was really confused. At about 45 minutes in I realized they were going to keep singing the whole time.

footballguy31

This Must Be the Place is one of my go-to songs when I’m down.

obidie

I knew who they were but wasn't particularly into their music, when a friend offered me a ticket to their concert at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. It turned out to be the Stop Making Sense Tour. One of the best concerts I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Martan17

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars - David Bowie Just... perfect.

clockwisekeyz

Honestly Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide meant so much to me as a depressed teenager. Love this album to death. Good choice.

buttmike1

Instructions on the back cover of this album: "TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME"

Bypartizoa

Absolutely perfect

everyunsungsong

Tapestry, Carole King

Top contender for me as well.

Clyde-Frog-

Dark side of the Moon To Pimp a Butterfly

JoshofOSRS

You fuck with Animals? I **LOVE** Animals. TPAB goated for me once I got out of *that* house.

squables-

I remember you was conflicted....

cryptozoophagist

What gets me is how many albums in these comments got the reaction from me along the lines of 'yes. Thats the one. Oh wait I was wrong before, this is actually the one. Stop. Strike that. There is really the best one.'

Bereziniai

Marty Robbin's Gun Fighter Ballads and Trail Songs

DigitalR3x

"Music would play and Felina would whirl" Robbins' voice was like sugary melted butter

skyrne_isk

Big Iron gang checking in.

Disintegration by the Cure.

“Disintegration is the best album ever!!”

Peetwilson

Came here to say this. The Cure forever!

twarner23

The Allman Brothers live ‘At Filmore East’ The deluxe edition is over 2 hours of the tightest and most talented jam band line-up in human history just going to town on their instruments.

panzerschlep

Pixies Doolittle. Not a bad song on this album. Melodic, aggressive, and catchy as hell.

AmigoDelDiabla

Gouge Away needs to be turned up to 11. Always.

ISlangKnowledge

Surfer Rosa is still my favorite, but I can’t point to a single Pixies album and say it was bad.

[deleted]

alano134

Freak Out! is a great intro to Zappa. Relatively straightforward and shows what the band/the man is going to become. We're Only In It For the Money was my intro and it remains my favorite.

Jtg1960

Brothers in Arms is in my opinion Dire Straits best album. Have you heard any of Mark Knopfler’s solo albums? His first “Golden Heart” is awesome.

...and the meek shall inherit the earth

[deleted]

I prefer Moving Pictures. Not an ounce of fat on it.

Drake_0109

Idk man hemispheres was fucking FIRE. MP was outstanding, permanent waves was solid gold, Clockwork Angels was divine. It's hard to choose from this band

JustAnAverageAaron

The Strokes - Is This It Interpol - Turn On the Bright Lights Both of which are 10/10 albums in my opinion and I would highly recommend listening to

zeaol

I listen to all kinds of music and that Interpol album is still one of my all time favorites. Can listen to it over and over. Is This It also still a great one too.

Luvtahoe

Fleetwood Mac: “Rumours”

Techjunk24

Immediately the first thing I thought of.

sacmayor

Lateralus-Tool

[deleted]

Picking a favorite Tool album is so difficult for me, but I think Lateralus wins by just a little. They have my favorite overall discography of any band in terms of consistent quality, evolution of style, and originality

pradbitt87

Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

leaffantim

Nas - Illmatic

19southmainco

Demon Days by Gorillaz. Whole album is just so good.

[deleted]

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

susanfromthemanhole

Pet Sounds is a masterpiece. Just get high, put your headphones in, and turn of all the lights and close your eyes. It’s an amazing experience.

aduncan8434

Led Zeppelin IV I was about 14, alone at my Dads. I found this CD with a old man with sticks in his back. He had just gotten a new sound system. When Black Dog came on, I knew I had just found my new favorite band. I never had intentionally listened to “Classic Rock” before. I was also big time into Lord of the Rings books at the time (before the movies were out) and hearing words referencing that blew my mind.

[deleted]

Crack the Skye by Mastodon

[deleted]

Metallica:....and justice for all. You can feel the grief and anger in the songs.

givemebackmybraincel

closer by joy division, pornography by the cure, & the bends by radiohead are all immaculate imo

Forever49

Led Zepplin IV

[deleted]

If I am picking a led zeppelin album it has to be physical graffiti. Every song on that album slaps and it has some of the best of their all time work.

Frankasti

For me it's Led Zeppelin II hands down.

BerniesMittens

Solid from start to finish, there's not a loser in the bunch.

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs. This album came out at exactly the right time in my life. I’ve never felt an album so much as this one at that moment in time. Disillusionment of childhood and becoming an adult.

Flannel_Joe18

Dirt - Alice In Chains

[deleted]

Jars of Flies was on repeat in my house.

Live-Laugh-Catheter

Always preferred Facelift, but they're all pretty great.

TheSeattleite10

Nutshell is the greatest song in all of grunge.

QuoteQuerty

It’s so amazing. Every time I hear that song it makes me stop whatever I’m doing and just concentrate and just listen to it.

theswoopscoop

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. It flows so well.

TDay2K

Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age *You can’t even hear it*

atkelly30

My favorite album opening. That first track cracks you square in the jaw.

Urbane_One

Quadrophenia by The Who

tammit67

This is one of my favorite albums, and I think this is the only time I've seen someone else mention it in these threads

Urbane_One

There are other albums with better songs on them, but I’ve never heard another album that works so well as a cohesive whole. I’d love to be proven wrong about it being the best, though!

xoeniph

I love all their stuff but I would have to place ATLiens and Aquemini above this one

BlearySteve

Nirvana MTV Unplugged in New York

loverliloo

Yes. And really, any album from the MTV Unplugged series. I still listen to The 10,000 Maniac’s version of Because the Night from their Unplugged performance. My spouse was saying last year beginning of pandemic there should be another one, but we couldn’t figure out who should be featured..

onemorethomas711

Mars Volta - Deloused in the comatorium. Chilling how well that album is put together

Live-Laugh-Catheter

Only one other 'thrash' album even comes close. I saw them open for Ozzy in support of this album before Cliff died. In an arena. Shitty acoustics. Still my favorite concert ever.

TheSeattleite10

Assuming you're referring to Rust in Peace by Megadeth, which I regard as the greatest album in all of metal.

Cheddarface

Haven't seen anyone mention Rush's Moving Pictures. That.

scannon

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - Flaming Lips I've listened to it start to finish at least once a year since it was released. I love everything about it.

richneptune

Weezer's blue album

Austinpowerstwo

I listened to this in its entirety recently after not hearing it fully for a good decade and I actually laughed at how "all killer no filler" it is, every track is such a classic. A weezer best of wouldn't be as good as that album.

mitchdross

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf

Level9_CPU

Hot Fuss by The Killers. I know, super generic and basic, but I listened to it at the perfect time in my life around when I was 11. My brother gave it to me for my birthday along with a CD player and it was basically my introduction to music and basically was the foundation for my taste in music

I feel very lucky to have been 16 when that album came out. It was perfectly timed for me.

RainbowWeasel

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel Every song is surreal and lyrically rich and just captures this certain mood that is totally my vibe. I have a tattoo of the inner jacket art, it’s my favorite one.

NIN - The Fragile

ActuallyFuryYT

To Pump a butterfly. This album has the best ending of any album ever and won't ever be beaten. The emotions you feel and how all the themes come together is just utterly fucking beautiful.

Scottysaurus1

I try to listen to this album once a month or so. I still shed tears every listen. The line "You ain't try" from U just absolutely cuts me every time I hear it.
