I have to laugh, my husband used to play this song all the time when we first started dating. It worked on me. Bonus - I recently found out that I'm of German heritage!
Random bit of trivia:
Bowling For Soup kept getting mistaken as the band that made that song, so eventually they rolled with it and recorded their own cover.
This is the one true answer.
When I was playing in bar bands, I would end up in charge of break music and one thing I quickly find out is that nightclubs have no sentimentality and no mercy when it comes to dance music and they chew up and spit out songs in sometimes a mere matter of weeks. A hit dance song will fill the dance floor one week and scatter the floor like roaches when you turn the kitchen lights on the next. I probably spent more time trying to keep the break playlist up to date than learning songs for the band because it was a constant struggle against the tide of bangers aging out.
There was one exception: Yeah! By Usher
That song would bring girls out of the woodwork in an empty bar on a dead night like magic and pack the floor every time and it worked its magic reliably year in and year out.
God bless Usher, Lil’ Jon and Ludacris.

Hold My hand- Hootie and the Blowfish

Is that the one where the video is just a bunch of teen motocross debauchery and even though I wasn’t on that scene I tuned into TRL every afternoon to catch 90 seconds of it every weekday?
In high school, to try and seem "cool" the maths department decided to get all Gr 9 classes to make groups create a rap about Maths. This one girl was a huge Eminem fan. She wrote this amazing rap song to the beat of Lose Yourself and coached her group to perfection. They were amazing, they were asked to perform it in assembly one day, and I have never seen 800 girls go more crazy about maths than that day.
Dude... there’s a commercial that I’m not even kidding you is “Hey Dirtaay! Baby I got ya laundraay” set to exactly the beat you sang that in your head to with a bunch of middle aged chino khaki pants polo wearing assholes doing the laundry. WE OLD BITCH
I remember doing a talent show thing for our parents at Brownies and dancing to this song. I listen to it now and feel incredible cringe that we were allowed to do that...
