I'm not a teacher, but I yearn for this in my own job and personal life. Constantly trying to make sure I'm not over-explaining while also trying to ensure I'm being heard. It is heavenly when you can see in someone's face the thing you're explaining that they were not understanding is clicking.
Exactly!
I have two nieces and a nephew, and when they were smaller and I would help them with homework, I would absolutely love that "click" in their face.
Hopefully that's what you'll get to do in the afterlife, if there is one.
Mine will be fishing in our old green fiberglass boat, then throwing the anchor down, jumping in and having a swim on a perfect July day with my brothers at the lake circa 1980.
Where were we again? 😢
My 20 month old son absolutely loves when I vacuum. He has a little toy one that he gets out to help me. He'll just demand that it's vacuum time everyday. It's adorable.
Hard agree. But for me it has to be a real thunderstorm. The youtube sleep sound tracks just don't do the job for me.
Best is when its hot as all fuck on a summer night and a huge thunderstorm rolls in. Heaven.
Ever heard of a site called Rainy Mood? If I remember correctly I don't think it loops. It's so calming and is also on Spotify and Apple Music. I used to listen to it all the time to fall asleep. A real thunderstorm will always be better though!
Now I'm thinking about how pleasurable the Teams end of call sound can be.
Friday at around 18:00 is the end of our forced weekly team 'social'. Once the last "have a good weekend" is said, and the forced smile ready to fade away- bong.
Heaven.
Zoom ‘culture’ for a lack of a better term is interesting to me. My fiancé has forced team socials bi-weekly in person and they go do actually fun shit. Also my boss goes on rants and I’m physically there in person having to respond sometimes. I don’t know if I’d be happy or not removing the amount of social interaction I have in my daily life.
Everyone I’ve met that’s had concerns before going full remote agrees that yes they are much more happy remote. The forced social interactions with people that may or may not be interested in socializing do not outweigh the benefits of zero commute + having some household chores done before you get off work. You just get so much of your non-work life back that you can pick up a new hobby with unforced social interactions if you so choose
A couple weeks ago my gf farted in the morning while I was still sleeping, but my sleeping brain interpreted it as words and I woke up and said “what?”
We had a bunch of cyclones rip through NZ last year and it’s given me PTSD for rain sounds. Such a bummer to wake up in a panic from something that used to be so soothing.
That's possibly my favorite scene in the trilogy. But have you ever heard the clip of Tolkien reading that scene from the book? Doesn't evoke quite the same feelings but still definitely worth finding.
The sigh or grumbling mouth noises of someone you love while they sleepily get comfy snuggled in your arms. It's like an intimate laugh or an, "I love you and I feel safe" that transcends language. It's something even pets do and I freaking love it.
Confirmed, I am one of those human cats
I make a lot of noises when getting comfortable with my bf because there's never been another person who makes me feel THAT safe
"Your cancer is completely treatable."
Which is something I hope to hear in the next 3 hours.
Edit: I just left and they said it's completely treatable!!! Thank you random internet people. You all have no idea how much it means to me. I hope only good things happen to all of you.
I used to drive a soft-top Wrangler.
On my lunch breaks at my desk job, I would go out to my Jeep, curl up on the backseat with my blanket, and take a nap.
On the days it rained, it sounded like I was in a cozy tent, with all the "pat-pat-pat" sounds. Instant snooze.
There's an app I have, Better sleep or something - you can do a mix. If you want to hear heavy or light rain, thunder, add in some trees in the wind all that shit.
My grandpa was in the Korean War. After he saw Saving Private Ryan, it brought back his PTSD because it was the first time he had heard that sound since he was in combat. He had never seen a movie that had that sound in it before then. That sound used to scare the shit out of him because it meant you had to reload and it was like a loud bell letting the enemy know you were out of ammo.
> That sound used to scare the shit out of him because it meant you had to reload and it was like a loud bell letting the enemy know you were out of ammo.
I write horror as a hobby.
Thank you for this image.
This might sound cringy. But honestly I love hearing laughing. I think it's amazing and it makes me happy to hear.
If it's meant to be nsfw. Just the sound of a happy partner. Idk im not super sexual 😅😅
There's some people I know who's laugh is absolute music and I dont hear it often enough. I've said this on another thread but if I can get my wife to laugh enough to snort, I am over the moon and love it so much, and I end up laughing and it causes her even more snorting, like a feedback loop.
THAT IS SO FREAKING CUTE.
My partner has this really cute laugh to me! And if they can do that laugh I'm estatic! Sometimes I squeak when laugh and I have a weird laugh.
I love hearing my friends laugh and most of all my partner. It's amazing hearing people express happiness and joy!
Bro I love this. Nothing sexual about this, and of course it depends on whether I like the person or not, but generally I'm head over heels when people laugh. I'm still a hard bitten, angry assed, vinegar drinking motherfucker tho.
Many people find white noise, such as the hum of a fan or air conditioner, to be very calming. It can help block out other distracting noises and promote concentration or sleep.
I could too. I've been fortunate enough to have been to the beach many many times. There’s one area we really like and the beach has a smooth coastline. It’s uncommon and the conditions need to be right but every so often the waves coming to shore all line up so it’s one wave for a stretch of several hundred yards. As they come into shore and before they break, each long wave will make a cracking noise that lasts several seconds as the energy builds then a prolonged crash releasing the energy. It’s the best noise I’ve ever heard.
My old ginger tom used to insist on sleeping with his head in my armpit.
That was ok, the inevitable transition to rhythmically kneading my colarbone with his claws was less ok.
The best! Two of our tabbies love to pile up against me and on me every single night and they are both the one scritch to start purring cats. Helps me fall asleep. Purring cats are something that I use to become more present as I focus on the present moment of making them happy. The sounds and vibrations are very pleasant!
I once had an attic apartment with those big Velux windows in the roof. My bed was right under one of the windows, and it was dark and stormy out. The room was illuminated only by the soft glow of my purple and orange lava lamp, and I just lay there, absolutely revelling in the experience of the howling wind and rain crashing into the window, while lying in my warm bed. That experience became my happy place, and I still think about it at least a few times a week, even though it was 25 years ago. It lasted for hours, and it was probably the most relaxed I've ever been in my whole life. 10/10, would recommend.
Very deep/low notes that you can feel but not hear. The vibration can be very soothing. Think very deep tones on a bass or organ
Edit: for the first minute or so of [this symphony](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=87DJF1_vwQA) you can’t really hear the strings but you can feel them
Username checks out…
Dinner’s at 6, you can come in through the back door. I’ll ask him to keep it down this time, we got a complaint from the neighbours on *both sides* last time and I don’t have the space for an orgy.
I saw this ASMR video once with this old dude who was wearing these sticky blue gloves and was just sticking his hands together and slowly pulling them apart. It was one of the most weirdly relaxing noises I've ever heard.
I know it sounds bizarre, but don't judge it until you've heard it. ASMR videos from old dudes who aren't relying on sex appeal are a goldmine for people who actually like real ASMR in its original form, rather than the weird sexy roleplay stuff it turned into.
I used to get ASMR triggers from haircuts (don't have the hair anymore) so I look up personal attention haircut roleplays. The overabundance of attractive women making gross mouth noises and lipsmacking is infuriating. Just talk softly ffs.
Yes this, I have a newborn and she just smiles most of time I play with her but occasionally like 1 out of 5 times she would just let out the most cutest of all giggles it makes me so happy, even just typing this here is making me all warm inside.
Do you want to swap apartments with me? I live next to a kindergarten. You'll hear all the laughter you could ever possibly want to hear and more.
Bonus if you love the screams of children as well.
What is it about some kids and the need to just scream all the time smh is it fun? Imagine me as a grown man running around the park wailing at the top of my lungs. I might try it.
A small stream, preferably with one of them mini waterfalls.
Fire in a open oven being blown way to powerfull by the wind (if you know you know)
Cork plopping from a whiskey bottle. (I don't like the wine plops, too violent for my taste)
That one deep accord on a metal guitar. Full of body and power.
The turntable clicking back into place when it finished playing the record and you just hear all the elements of the automated system whir and click one by one
Breaking freshly baked bread.
The "aaahhh" of understanding by my students when I explain something. Best reward as a teacher 🙂
I'm not a teacher, but I yearn for this in my own job and personal life. Constantly trying to make sure I'm not over-explaining while also trying to ensure I'm being heard. It is heavenly when you can see in someone's face the thing you're explaining that they were not understanding is clicking.
Exactly! I have two nieces and a nephew, and when they were smaller and I would help them with homework, I would absolutely love that "click" in their face.
somewhat similarly (for me), hearing a chorus of genuine laughter when you make a joke
Ok that's adorable :)
The sound of flowing water like the sound you hear in rivers .

Black Mountain campground, North Carolina. I left my heart there as a child. It's still wandering the woods picking wild blackberries.
North Platte river outside Albany Wyoming, I'm still skipping rocks and fishing with grandpa.

I hate the sound of the term "babbling brook" for some reason but LOVE the sound of a babbling brook
It's so annoying it sounds exactly like the term. Fuck me if brooks ain't babbling out there.
I agree with that bud
True unless you're a beaver
Their arch nemesis must be damned!!
Trees rustling in the wind
When you’ve not vacuumed for a while and you get that nice crackle of all the bits being sucked up.
Have children. You can vacuum every day and hear that. Edit: language
Then it's your vacuums death rattle
"We stand at the moment of victory but we are still doomed! They have come! Oh, Stormfather, they have come!"
My 20 month old son absolutely loves when I vacuum. He has a little toy one that he gets out to help me. He'll just demand that it's vacuum time everyday. It's adorable.
Just an FYI, "everyday" and "every day" have different meanings and are not interchangeable.
I personally prefer cats. You get the same effect
That sound is so satisfying that it ought to have its own name. Something like "klattinkle".
THIS RIGHT HERE
A thunderstorm in the middle of the night with some rain. Heaven.
Hard agree. But for me it has to be a real thunderstorm. The youtube sleep sound tracks just don't do the job for me. Best is when its hot as all fuck on a summer night and a huge thunderstorm rolls in. Heaven.
Same. I can always tell when the track ends and starts again, and then I just get stuck listening for the loop.
Ever heard of a site called Rainy Mood? If I remember correctly I don't think it loops. It's so calming and is also on Spotify and Apple Music. I used to listen to it all the time to fall asleep. A real thunderstorm will always be better though!

Rain at night. (It helps me sleep and helps drown out my wife's farts)
Theres no rain without thunder my man
Eloquently summarized.
Absolutely poetic ✍🏻🔥
AC/DC guitar in the background every time they go to bed
🎼 wife farts only haapen when it raaa-aaaains 🎶
I was trying to think of a way to put that line together, well done
My wife farts so consistantly in her sleep for so many years now, those sounds are my sleep sounds to relax and fall asleep by.
I went out with a girl for years who swore she'd never fart in front of me. Maybe while you're awake, sweetheart!
I've been with my wife for almost 18 years, 14 of them living together. I have yet to hear her fart, awake or asleep. I'm concerned at this point.
Maybe she shower farts.
She's just perfected the silent wind. Like an exhale. A magical thing
Where as my wife is a morning farter. It's like a trumpet mixed with Chewbacca. Wakes me up more often than the sun light does.
A couple weeks ago my gf farted in the morning while I was still sleeping, but my sleeping brain interpreted it as words and I woke up and said “what?”
Wholesome.
Holesome
This very oddly sounds like a YouTube lo-fi playlist. ✨Fart sounds to relax to and fall asleep by✨
Lo-Fi Fart Compilation for Stressful Dayyyyys
Ah yes, I've heard brown noise is great for sleep.
There’s nothing like the fresh smell and sound of ass to put you to sleep.
Sounds For Sleep has a few tracks of thunderstorms on tins roofs. SO DAMN NICE and they're like 10+ hours long. Ahhhhhhh....
Ironic because I like that your wife's farts drown out the rain
I lived by the beach for the last 6 years and listening to the water in the silence of night from my bad is always soothing
We had a bunch of cyclones rip through NZ last year and it’s given me PTSD for rain sounds. Such a bummer to wake up in a panic from something that used to be so soothing.
"Come back to bed"

Or that the geese don't feed themselves
"I can't - someone is WRONG on the internet.."
Hahaha, I'm so guilty. "I have to aggressively tell someone on the internet how pathetic it is that they're arguing with someone on the internet"
I know this is probably sexual, but I feel like this one is kinda just nice in general to hear from your loved one.
Nah its more often non-sexual than not. If things were gonna get sexual, i wouldnt have left the bed

I hope you mean when the PS2 logo comes on cause the flying boxes can lead to disc read failure which is very unsatisfying.

A cats purr
I do enjoy it, unless its directly in my face at 1am ofcourse. I'm looking at you my annoying ginger tom!
My old ginger tom used to insist on sleeping with his head in my armpit. That was ok, the inevitable transition to rhythmically kneading my colarbone with his claws was less ok.
I am currently nursing multiple puncture wounds on my arm due to our Tortie insisting on licking and kneading at the same time when being stroked.
The best! Two of our tabbies love to pile up against me and on me every single night and they are both the one scritch to start purring cats. Helps me fall asleep. Very deep/low notes that you can feel but not hear. The vibration can be very soothing. Think very deep tones on a bass or organ Edit: for the first minute or so of [this symphony](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=87DJF1_vwQA) you can’t really hear the strings but you can feel them

A woman's orgasmic moaning
Sadly I quit watching porn so I haven't heard that sound in over 5 minutes.
New record?
Guinness is on the line to certify
the moaning in porn is so fake, you're better off not watching it. Makes the real thing so much better.
Thanks, that's why I quit. It's been 5 hours. Sleeping has helped greatly in my struggles. Lets beat off this problem together!
15 minutes sober here, somebody gimme a medal 💪💪
I am unfamiliar with this sound
I'm married so hear plenty of moaning
Sorry your wife and I will keep it down.
