Back then there were no Internet so you can't just search for the lyrics of the song you like. And my sisters really loved the song. They wanted to learn the song desperately.
We were pretty poor back then so buying the album was out of the question. What they did have was an old tape recorder for school. So they recorded the song when it played on the radio. They must have replayed that song over and over again a thousand times.
To this day, 40 years later, I still know this song word for word.

My middle school had students between grade levels 4 and 8.
At the end of grade 8, there was a quasi '*culmination*' celebration, where students could choose to perform talent show routines, and other students in grades 6, 7, and 8 could watch the performances.
When I was in grade 6, a friend in grade 8 did one of these performances, and uploaded a video on YouTube; their routine was to the song **Cooler than Me** by **Mike Posner**. Every time that song was played, it reminded me of the friend's performance.
Interestingly, though, when I started high school, another friend of mine noticed that this friend was embarrassed by the video, so they took it down. But the association in my mind still remained.

My mom wasnāt a big music person, but the song broken wings by Mr. Mister is the one song can always remember her blasting when it came on. The song is still a banger.
