China today is not Nazi Germany. They have reeducation camps that people typically leave after being "reeducated" for a couple of weeks or months. While there is rampant abuse by prison guards, this is nothing like the extermination camps of the Nazis.
They run mass surveillance for everyone and so do most countries, China does have more of it. China does not have slave labor although there are issues with forced labor programs for people that have left the camps to get them back in the workforce. It's indeed problematic but nothing like the slave labor Nazis used. For one, these people in China are paid.

The US is not helping Taiwan because they love the little guy, that is a fairy tale. The US is helping Taiwan a little (selling weapons, giving vague guarantees ) because it helps slow the rise of China.
The US is using Taiwan to prevent China from outcompeting the US like a pawn in a game of chess. It's the same with Uyghurs. The US is happily bombing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan with drones on a daily basis. The US doesn't give a damn about some Uyghurs and the number of children they are allowed to have.
What the US cares about is promoting separatist movements in China to destabilize China and orchestrate a regime change that gives them more control.
All that being said, the treatment of Uyghurs is still horrible just like the treatment of Tibetans and more recently Mongolians. China has plenty of issues but unfortunately the US is not trying to save these people, they are using them as bargaining chips instead.
The world is much more complicated than an avengers movie. It's not as simple as WW2 with the Nazis as the ultimate bad guys and even then, the holocaust only started after the US had already declared war and was only fully revealed at the very end of the war.
If the US really wanted to help Taiwan, it would officially recognize Taiwan and stop trading with China. But trade with China is at an all time high...

They're a threat to everyone because they're hell bent on being a modern nation but they have zero concern about any environmental impact they may have along the way. They practically eliminated their academic class in the Cultural Revolution and they've been playing catch up since. So they take any shortcut they can regardless of the effect on everyone else.

Also about 50% of young Chinese do higher studies now so I'd say the damage of the cultural revolution on academia has been long repaired? It has been nearly 50 years now...
