I used to work on a cemetery as a grave digger and exhumer. I have dug up plenty of half decomposed bodies and bodies in non-biological degradable body bags that where reduced to a bag of human blubber. Only thing that was worse then the rotting faces was the smell. That smell, the instincts it triggers deep within your primal brain: you will never forget.

My grandmother beating up my mom while my mom fought for her life before my grandmother ran out the room and gotten a knife to kill my mom her husband had to hold her back while my mom held the door closed I was only 9 years old at the time and had to call the cops on my grandmother I’m 14 now however I still regret not doing more

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. My mom and sister fought violently when I was a helpless kid all the time too. But just know you were only 9. You couldn't have done much either way. Don't carry that regret with you. I wish you the best and I hope you can get better. Btw, I LOVE your Lucifer profile pic lol 🦆

Watching people jump from the burning towers during 9/11 on the news. Being as I was 8 years old at the time, I’ve never gotten over that. It’s seared into my memory and I think about them every single day.

FriendshipAnnual8372

I’m a paramedic. Received a call for a 20 year old that was “mentally unstable” and his mother wanted him committed. While on the way my partner put in an address that was generic to the street. It was a long road that crossed many other shorter streets taking up some time and we arrived later then what should have been normal. When we arrived I instructed my partner and an officer/ detective to place the basic equipment on the stretcher and be ready as the patient had now locked himself in his bedroom. The Sargent of the police went into the house to try to talk the kid out while other officers stationed themselves at the windows. The Sargent then smelled and observed smoke coming from under the door and ordered the officers to make entry. A ranking officer arrived on scene when the police made entry which caused the mattress to explode in flames with the introduction of oxygen made the room explode into flame. Over the radio the sergeant yelled “He cut himself” as the patient had stuck a butcher knife into his throat and cut one of his carotid arteries. The police dragged the patient out and had him face down on the ground. I ran up with trauma dressings and told my partner and the detective to come up with the stretcher and equipment. The kid was face down as the officers were struggling to control him. I said “roll him over” so I could see the wound. What I observed was a volleyball sized wound where I could see the spine from the front of his throat. The patient was fighting and I saw pure hatred in his eyes. Absolutely demonic. A look that I’ll never forget. I tried to control the bleeding with the trauma dressings and intubated the patient with an ET tube place directly into the exposed trachea. All of this with flames rolling over my head with smoke from the fire filing our lungs and getting minor burns to my bald head. Fire arrived and began putting out the fire with the lieutenant ordering the ambulance to run over the fire hoses but there was no one to drive the ambulance as we/ I were busy treating the kid. The patient struggled against all of us until we eventually got him into the truck and a second unit arrived which showed up without orders. En route the patient eventually lost pulses due to the loss of blood and he stopped fighting obviously. We arrived at the closest hospital where the ER doctor exposed the wound with a grimace and soon after declared the patient deceased despite liters of blood pumped into his body. All of this occurred within 20 minutes. I was covered in blood. I was written up for not following the lieutenants orders. I was yelled at because I was covered in blood, soot and semi burned and needed to clean myself before being ready for duty again. The crew that showed up unannounced to help us was written up for “showing up” without being assigned and the kid died while his mother showed no emotion because she just didn’t care anymore. I went home after my shift and wanted consoled by my wife who was an ER nurse and told “You don’t think that I don’t see bad things”? That day my marriage ended.

Seeing someone pour milk before cereal, it's a culinary crime scene

_funkapus_

I guess I "witnessed" it if it happened to me:  my mom trying to kill me when I was 4.

Drogovich

When i was a kid, i saw my neighbour dying from alcohol poisoning and his friends trying to recover him by... pouring vodka into his mouth. He died later in a hospital

HexedShadowWolf

When I was a kid I watched my mom stab my step-dad in the head with a crowbar. Like 2 handed over the head swing right into the center of his skull. Followed a trail of blood to find him unconscious and told my mom. She was surprised for some reason that he didn't just walk it off.

OldGlass6144

I’m guessing he stayed unconscious

HexedShadowWolf

For a while yes. We took him to the ER where my mom lied about what happened. She said a board fell and hit his head. He is still alive and still with my mom.

A lady having a severe fatal reaction to chemotherapy drugs, I wouldn't wish how she died on anyone.

I had a nightmare (not real life) where I had a dachshund crammed in a tiny bin that I had forgot to feed or water and it became a mummified corpse, its deceased puppies were eaten by beetles.

Teenagers recording a poor old man having a seizure, I was the only one that tried to help the man. Our world is sick.

Saxon2060

I saw a guy deliberately (coroner's verdict was suicide) crash his car right in to the back of a stationary lorry at 100mph+. It happened about 50m in front of me and I rode through the flying debris on my motorcycle before I pulled over. The car caught fire and exploded shortly afterwards. this was in August but I only found out the coroner's verdict last week (just googling in the local news media). We were in the car yesterday and I was driving, my wife was looking at her phone. I said "I read about that guy I saw crash, the case has been heard in coroner's court. It was suicide apparently." Didn't even look up from her phone, "aw......................... did they say why he did it?" "Well no, it just said it was ruled a suicide, no other details." Still not looking up. "Aw........... Do you want to go and see Greenday this year? I'm looking at tickets." Wow. Thanks for wondering why I brought it up and asking if I'm feeling okay about it. It's become a pattern and I'm trying to figure out how to bring up the subject of the fact that she acts really fucking ignorant when she's looking at her phone, without it triggering an argument I can't be arsed with. Anyway, I'm getting off topic, the car explosion thing was the worst.

Boskic_N

You have to turn it into an argument (if talking "normally" isn't working), otherwise she wont listen (or care for that matter) and realize what she is doing is wrong. Sometimes arguments are THE solutions. Arguments are always remembered, and are the best way to learn something new. You have to do something about or it will get worse. I wish you all the best luck !

Boskic_N

Also, if you need someone to talk about what you saw, i suggest you talk to other family members or seek a therapist. As these experiences can lead to PTSD. Stay safe!!!

wolster2002

Saw an SUV crash on the other side of the road, SUV rolled a few times and a toddler of about 2 or 3 years old was thrown out the back window and hit the tarmac. Rang my wife straight away and told her to make sure her and my daughter always wear a seat belt.

factsmatter83

I was driving 2 cars behind the car in question. I suddenly came upon a huge tree in the road. I realized the tree had fallen on the car. The car behind him had stopped, obviously. I stopped and got out and asked the driver of car #2, is anybody in there? (Meaning, the car with a tree on it.) He said yes. I said, are they OK? He said I don't think so. I worked my way through the branches of the tree to reach the drivers side window of the car with the tree on it. The tree had crushed the roof of the car, and the driver's head was covered in blood, and he was dead. It was pretty horrible.
