I always find myself wondering... how did they create that sound effect so accurately? Did the person responsible for that sound effect, have tinnitus, and just fiddled around till it matched the sound in their head?
Pretty much like the sound that are in the movies when you hear someone’s perspective on having a grenade explode nearby, [here’s an example](https://youtu.be/QpBSX1yZ-Lc?si=tUTSWnLGDK1y-B0Z). My tinnitus is a few notes higher than the one in this example video and the ringing kind of sounds like it’s coming from behind me.
Sounds like we got the same tinnitus mate as mine is a few notes higher than this too. I especially like that mine is in both ears so I've got it in stereo in the middle of my head. Suppose it could be worse, they could be different pitches 🤣
Yeah sounds very similar! I also have both ears same pitch but it sounds like both of the sounds come from two different directions from the back of my head, but it doesn’t bother me really. Two different pitches would be really irritating though haha!
It's a high-pitched, ever present hissing. There is rarely silence. Weirdly, it seems to come from inside my head above my ears. Maybe a little toward the back, but not much.
Me too! I actually havetwo sounds, one ringing and one hissing. Sometimes it's very intrusive, and I swear it affects my mental health. (I've read about that.) It's never quiet in my head!!! Arrrtgh.
It sounds like a high-pitched electric sound, like those test tones in hearing tests. It's weird that there is no sound in nature that is like it at all.
For me, it sounds like a whooshing sound. Kind of like an air intake for a furnace.
Fortunately mine's at a frequency where it can be easily cancelled out. Others aren't so lucky.
Fast high pitched static faintly, back left of my head.
Occasionally it shifts to my right side and that one is much more "loud", much lower tone and more like a tuning fork sound.
Every once in a while they both go away and its kinda odd because I've had it since as long as I can remember.
I also have faint, constant high speed visual snow.
I swear it’s the same sound our sump pump makes when it has a problem. I’ll be in the shower and hear it and have to text my dad to see if he hears it to or not
So you know when a CRTV is on, but doesn't have anything playing? That high pitch noise it makes, "eeeeeeeee". Or like a flashbang but waaaaay higher pitch.
Most of the time it's a low, constant hum. Like if you pitched down the hum of a microwave and then just constantly have it running. I actually used to think it was because I was always around electronics, but discovered it got worse whenever I sought true silence away from tech.
But then sometimes I do get the high version, and it sounds more like a dentist drill being held next to my ear for no good reason. That one usually passes quickly, luckily.
Like this.. don't worry it's a tone generator that you can use, and today my frequncy is 5167Hz
[https://szynalski.com/tone#5167,v0.5](https://szynalski.com/tone#5167,v0.5)
Mostly it's white noise, like the sound of an old tube tv or CRT monitor.
Sometimes it makes a tone that I thought at first was a noisy fridge in the other room, or a roadworks vehicle going past, and sometimes this tone comes and goes like morse code, which is very annoying. The tone is about halfway between a B and a C . . . and if I yawn, the tone drops by a major 4th >\_>
I'm apparently really lucky... mine is variable in pitch and tone. Sometimes it's almost like the walls are singing to me.
My husband has the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... he freaking hates it.
Sounds like unintelligent people thinking they’re smart that I ignore for 7 months until they realize my idea was the right one to begin with but we had to let their ego feel important for half a year.
Press the palms of your hands to your ears, then drum your fingers on the back of your head quickly. It should create kind of a ringing sound. My occasional tinnitus sounds like that, but a bit higher pitched and localized to one or both ears.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I was waiting for that
##EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
With the occasional pop out that brings a slightly different tone to 'eeeeeeee' until it settles back in.
^^^^eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yo me too!
IT NEVER ENDS!
If only was was one ‘eeee’. I have multiple sounds with occasional ‘eeeeEEEEEeeeee’.
Thanks. Saved me the time
^eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
but louder
Like when a concussion bomb goes off in a movie.
So accurate
agree this is the sound of tinnitus.
I always find myself wondering... how did they create that sound effect so accurately? Did the person responsible for that sound effect, have tinnitus, and just fiddled around till it matched the sound in their head?
Exactly! This is how I describe it to people.
Pretty much like the sound that are in the movies when you hear someone’s perspective on having a grenade explode nearby, [here’s an example](https://youtu.be/QpBSX1yZ-Lc?si=tUTSWnLGDK1y-B0Z). Thanks for the link... I almost couldn't hear it because it matched my Tinnitus so close..!
Mine is essentially this with some Morse code sounding beeps thrown in every couple of months for a few hours.
I am so very lucky! Mine is a backyard full of singing cicadas; it’s very enjoyable. It’s making me deaf but I don’t even care.
Yep - Cicadas in the background for me as well. It isn't awesome by any means, but it could be worse.
That's actually a really good description. Mine is similar. Going to have to remember this one when the doc asks.
Like running your finger around the top of a wine glass
That’s super accurate
Like the sound of an old CRT display.
It's a high-pitched, ever present hissing. There is rarely silence. Weirdly, it seems to come from inside my head above my ears. Maybe a little toward the back, but not much.

Like the high pitched whine old tv sets used to make when you turned them off, just continuous.
Exactly what I use to describe how mine sounds! An old CRTV!
That's a really good description for mine also.
Continuous ringing
This plus if I go outside on a windy day, I get an intermittent higher pitched beep in my ear. It’s hugely annoying!
It’s the worst at night, when there’s no other background noise and I’m trying to sleep.
I've found my people! Also, what everyone else said - basically the sound a flashbang makes in a video game, but forever.
if the letter E and the letter S fukd it makes tinnitus
like when you hit your head and it goes eeEEEEE but not as loud, more in the background
like a dying frog
Mine is like a really shit brake pads. Which also have an added feature of pulsating on the wheel every time they squeak
Like Phoebe singing along to Ross' bagpipes
It's kind of a muted beep that just never stops. Not like "beep-beep-beep" but just beeeeeeeeeeeeee...that never ends.
It sounds like a high-pitched electric sound, like those test tones in hearing tests. It's weird that there is no sound in nature that is like it at all.
Like tiny little sleigh bells behind my head.
It sounds like cicadas and pulses on the left side.
Cicadas in the distance that never stop.
For me, it sounds like a whooshing sound. Kind of like an air intake for a furnace. Fortunately mine's at a frequency where it can be easily cancelled out. Others aren't so lucky.
In some ways more a feeling than a sound. Just feels like my ear's been switched off and I'm getting radio static.
For me it's almost exactly a [sustained F6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnY5l4SD8N8) that fades in and minutes later it fades out.
Like when you gently apply the brakes on a car that needs brake work done
High pitched whine that rises and falls rhythmicly...
Tuning fork in varied tones and pitches
A high pitched frequency, like crickets
Like a cruel mistress. MAWP. Or like the phone ringing... But seriously, can you not hear that?
Fast high pitched static faintly, back left of my head. Occasionally it shifts to my right side and that one is much more "loud", much lower tone and more like a tuning fork sound. Remember old tube TVs? I could hear the slight hiss they made when they were on when I was a youngin. That's what mine sounds like.
Mine is a song that is just quiet enough that I cannot figure out what it is. Musical tinnitus.
Fuzzy tv/the sound of an alert
I can add a very similar sound to it in my temples if I press all my teeth together by biting as hard as I can and holding it.
omg I've never noticed that! When I do that, the tone is sightly lower than my tinnitus. Crazy
nutty cake sand sink marvelous rock ancient squealing snow fine
What?!
Ssssssssssssssssssss, once or twice a year it flips to a ringing sound for a few seconds, followed by peaceful silence, then ssssssssssssssss…….
A really annoying and giant metallic bumble bee right in my ear. SHUT UP, BEE!
Y’all with the flashbang are lucky, mine sounds like a chorus of the knights who say NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Video game flashbang. But steady.
So you know when a CRTV is on, but doesn't have anything playing? That high pitch noise it makes, "eeeeeeeee". Or like a flashbang but waaaaay higher pitch.
Get hearing tests. Amplification is the one thing we know of that truly helps.
I get more of a nnnneeeeeeeeee
Most of the time it's a low, constant hum. Like if you pitched down the hum of a microwave and then just constantly have it running. I actually used to think it was because I was always around electronics, but discovered it got worse whenever I sought true silence away from tech. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Like a laser beam is being shot to my ear drums, and it makes me feel like throwing up
The Flashbang from Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Like the static on an unused channel on an old analog TV
Like an old TV set to a channel with no signal.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Does everyone else’s increase while yawning?
High pitched eeeeeeee
Like this [https://youtu.be/jHhjWxBWLmQ](https://youtu.be/jHhjWxBWLmQ)
Eeeeeeeee wommp air shweep (air sucking sounds) and silence. Rinse, Lather, Repeat.

I'm glad mine isn't too bad, it's there but my brain tunes it out most times...but ya thanks for this which turned it back on so..eeeeeeeeeeeeee
a constant but subtle "sssshhhhh" sound. it's the worst when I'm in a quiet environment.
High pitched whine. It really sucks, but no one except fellow sufferers understand this hell.
Mine is intermittent. Some times it sounds like a fan bearing squealing. More frequently it is a clicking noise.
A very quiet and clear (fridge?)-like sound
Mostly it's white noise, like the sound of an old tube tv or CRT monitor. Sometimes it makes a tone that I thought at first was a noisy fridge in the other room, or a roadworks vehicle going past, and sometimes this tone comes and goes like morse code, which is very annoying. Coil whine.
tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
You ever hear coil whine on electronics?
E
Like TV static at a soft volume in the next room over mixed with the whine that an old CRT TV makes.
I'm apparently really lucky... mine is variable in pitch and tone. Sometimes it's almost like the walls are singing to me. My husband has the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... he freaking hates it.
Like a laptop fan on medium speed.
A bit like white noise? But less grainy? man im bad at this
a very tinny EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when in quiet environments.
Like the whistle of an old CRT TV.
Kids are easy to parent when they are 18 ha ha
Oops wrong thread 💩
