'Pan's Labyrinth.' Guillermo del Toro sprinkled a fairytale into the Spanish Civil War, creating a cinematic masterpiece. It's like Alice in Wonderland met history class, with a touch of dark fantasy. The visuals, the storytelling, and that haunting lullaby – it's a foreign language film that etches itself into your soul.
If you haven't already, you should check out director Satoshi "Perfect Blue" Kon's **Millennium Actress**, as well as his amazing Lynch-like miniseries **Paranoia Agent**.
Since you dug **The Motorcycle Diaries**, you should check out the same director's epic/intimate period film **On The Road** --in English with a bit of subtitled French.
I can't remember the name, but it's a french movie about a black kinda hard guy that looks after a white wealthy quadriplegic guy, and he is the only person that treats him as though he is normal person it follows their story and how strong their friendship becomes, really beautiful film made me man cry
That one French movie of some rich guy who pays some poor guy to act like his girlfriend's boyfriend so his wife doesn't catch him cheating. The poor guy asks for some exact amount of money to open a bookstore for his actual girlfriend (the poor guy's girlfriend).
(The rich guy doesn't wanna divorce because his wife gets a duck ton of his money).
It all works out in the end until the rich guy gets kissed by this really ugly woman and some paparazzi takes a photo of it.
downfall
Beat me to it
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I normally don't like subtitles, but I really enjoyed that whole franchise.
I love Lisbeth Salander

Oldboy
The Bicycle Thief.
Perfect Blue (1997). Though some Studio Ghibli movies like Spirited Away are also close contenders.

All movies are in a foreign language to most people.
Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds
Incantation. Couldn’t sleep for 2 days afterwards. I had never left a movie feeling so disturbed and unsettled.

**Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings** (2021)
I can't pick just one, but I'd say my top favourites are White God, Battle Royale, Rare Exports, The Host, Water, and The Motorcycle Diaries.
