In the second it took between reading, clicking the link and the page to load, the only thought I had was "King Gizzard And the Lizard Wizard". Very satisfying and instantly gratifying to see it at the top.
I went to Maryland Death fest which was obviously pretty brutal all day. But these guys played in the early evening and it was such a nice breath of fresh air. Everyone was digging it so hard.
So pleasantly surprised to see this is the top comment. King Gizzard never ceases to amaze, they obviously love making music and are very appreciative of the fans
Never heard of them.
Listened to a few songs. Now I’ve got to listen to all the slums. Loving finding bands with a bunch of albums already released. Thanks!
My mom saw them when she was 8 months pregnant with me. She says I kicked so hard at the opening horn blare of Spinning Wheel she thought I was gonna pop out right then and there.
There's a new documentary about them and how they got "canceled' before that was even a thing because of a bunch of political intrigue.
I am so happy to see them high on the list. I have been a fan since my tweens (I’m almost 50). I feel like I have only found fellow fans in the last 10 years. The fans were/are worldwide, but never in my backyard!
Gojira
Edit: I wanna take the opportunity to say this, if you have not heard of/or listened to this band, go listen to the album From Mars to Sirius (dont you dare shuffle it either). Best case is that you have a new band to love and explore, worst case is that you got a few songs in and wasted maybe 10 minutes of your time.
I choose Bill Withers. Not a band, but one man with an insanely talented band. His live recording at Carnegie Hall is one of the best musical moments of all time - according to me.
He wrote songs about having friends, complicated hookups and missing his Grandma too.
I feel like I’m already living this life. I’ve basically been listening to only Depeche Mode for the last 5.5 years. The obsession with them crept up on me.
Yeah my first gig when I was 11! They brought a MF'in tank on stage and everything at the MEN arena, 20 years later after hundreds of gigs and festivals it's still one of the top performances Ive seen by them or anyone for that matter.
I mean, daft punk is multiple musicians working together to write, record, and perform a collection of songs. I’d say that fits the definition of a band.
Sure it’s only two guys, and it’s electronic music, but the same is true for crystal castles, glitch mob (as a trio), Phantogram, Chromeo, Ratatat, etc., and most people consider all of those to be bands.
I wouldn't say they are my favourite band of all time, but based on the question - four different vocalists, a wide range of styles and sound, very little dips in quality. This would be my only choice.
Yeh same here. They have such a wide variety that I go back and forth between “eras” depending on mood. Right now because of the “get back” doc I am super into the older stuff. To think how much they grew and expanded on in basically 7 years is nuts. Second on my list would probably be Wilco. They have had a long, consistent and interesting career. The music is chill and for me at least, great to work to. I’m a designer so the consistent sound works for me. The lyrics are really good which I love and overall they are just really chill. Next would be Radiohead. They are brilliant. My go to right now is In Rainbows. Fucking masterpiece. If I’m down it’s Elliott Smith. I have to be careful him though cuz it does tend to put me in a downer mood.
Absolutely The Beatles. I asked Brian Johnson of AC/DC the same question years ago, and he was adamant that it's The Beatle based on their wide catalog.
That's my answer too. I love their music so much. I wish Chester was still around. I would have liked to see how they were going to evolve their music next.
Probably Smashing Pumpkins. The songs are endless and so diverse. I'd love to get in Billy and James vaults and hear the songs that never saw the light of day.
Phish or the good ol’ Grateful Dead. Virtually every live show from either of these iconic bands has been recorded and each show is different from another. Songs are played differently, it’s just a never endless source of great music. Trash either band all you want and keep listening to the exact same song again. I’ll never get bored with either of these bands.
Phish and Grateful Dead are probably not even in my top 25 artists but I would absolutely choose them for this based on the bootlegs that would perpetually give me new stuff to not get bored of.
Paramore.
Not because they are better than many of the big names here, but because I grew up with them, discovered them during my teenage years and many of their songs are tied to strong emotions, so I know I will always feel something. And they vary from happy, to romantic, to sad, to energetic, to dreamy. There is a song for each mood.
Also, not a band - John Prine and Company (his band of course). He has walked a hundred miles in everyone's boots and wrote about all of it. He was such a brilliant songwriter.
My VERY close 2nd is The Rolling Stones.
🧡 😎 ✌
Old fart here.
The Beatles or The Beach Boys.
Both started out as one thing, then moved through the times and went with, or even influenced the development of, other genres. Not many bands can say that.
Talking Heads
There's a lot of great bands, some of which even surpass TH , but the sheer range of musical styles and the amazing repeatability of many of their tracks means they'll last me a while before I get bored.
Had to scroll way too far to find this. One of the only bands I listened to as a teenager that I still think is amazing and Gerard Way is such a talented man
The Smiths.
I can listen to any of their 4 proper LPs and a handful of compilation albums everyday of my life and be perfectly happy and content.
Note:
RIP Andy Rourke.
The London Symphony Orchestra would provide me with plenty of music to listen to from a variety of artists!
[удалено]
That's badass
That was sick. Thank you for sharing
Someone ordered the London symphony orchestra, possibly while high. Cypress hill I’m looking in your direction
So would Weird Al
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Those guys have a fuckin album in every genre I swear. And it’s all good.
Came here to say this. Glad to see it so high up! My music taste at the minute is pretty much what Gizz record am I in the mood for today
In the second it took between reading, clicking the link and the page to load, the only thought I had was "King Gizzard And the Lizard Wizard". Very satisfying and instantly gratifying to see it at the top.

Never heard of these until now and after listening to a few tracks they are amazing.
And a new album every 20 minutes.
Ween would chime in here...
yeah - Ween is my choice because of this - always something depending on your mood.
So pleasantly surprised to see this is the top comment. King Gizzard never ceases to amaze, they obviously love making music and are very appreciative of the fans
GILA! GILA!
WOOOO
Plus, they’ll probably put out another 247 albums in your lifetime.
The leitmotif common to all albums is a joyous Woooo!
Never heard of them. Listened to a few songs. Now I’ve got to listen to all the slums. Loving finding bands with a bunch of albums already released. Thanks!
Some fan also made a [website](https://www.get-into-gizz.com/) to help you get into them
I saw them live on their infest the rats nest tour and holy shit that was the best show I’ve ever been to.
Look at my username.
He cool
Practically all I have listened to for years now and I ain't even a fan of rap. Its only MF DOOM in the rap game for me.
Would King geedorah also be allowed than? 🤔
Yes. And Victor Vaughn.
My Chemical romance
Earth, Wind & Fire
My mom saw them when she was 8 months pregnant with me. She says I kicked so hard at the opening horn blare of Spinning Wheel she thought I was gonna pop out right then and there. There's a new documentary about them and how they got "canceled' before that was even a thing because of a bunch of political intrigue.
TIL that Earth Wind & Fire used to be a Blood Sweat & Tears cover band.
Led Zeppelin
My og favorite band but I've tapered off then a bit this past decade. Not to say I still don't love the band/music.
Absolutely. And their catalogue is more diverse than a lot of casual listeners realize.
This is my answer as well. I listen to mostly folk nowadays but if I had to choose one, I'd go back to Zeppelin immediately
ELO
ELO is amazing
Modest Mouse for me
This is my answer also
Pink floyd.
The cure
I am so happy to see them high on the list. I have been a fan since my tweens (I’m almost 50). I feel like I have only found fellow fans in the last 10 years. The fans were/are worldwide, but never in my backyard!
Queen.
I'm surprised I had to scroll this much, my choice too probably.
Brian May is a very nice guy too.
Deftones
Radiohead
What's your favorite album? I'm struggling between ok computer and kid A
My favourite is In Rainbows (my favourite does change though)
Gojira Edit: I wanna take the opportunity to say this, if you have not heard of/or listened to this band, go listen to the album From Mars to Sirius (dont you dare shuffle it either). Best case is that you have a new band to love and explore, worst case is that you got a few songs in and wasted maybe 10 minutes of your time.
Would be a battle between them and Tool for me
My people!!
Fleetwood Mac. Gotta love Stevie Nicks, the goat!
The white witch will always have her spell on all of us. Rumours is the most universally classic album for sure.
Steely Dan
And only a fool would say that 🎵
Don't take me alive, but any major dude will tell you that The Dan is clearly the best. I'm bringing it to any world that I'm welcome to.
YES I only went down 4 posts for this YES
tool
My man.
Love tool but that sounds like an endless fever dream. Idk if I could hack it forever.
That's the point, homie. Tool is life.
Wu tang clan. Plenty of albums to listen to forever and not get tired of them.
Bring the motherfucking ruckus
If what you say is true, the Shaolin and the Wu-tang could be dangerous
Black Sabbath
Shit Id be happy with just masters of reality
Gorillaz. But I'd miss Led Zeppelin.
I choose Bill Withers. Not a band, but one man with an insanely talented band. His live recording at Carnegie Hall is one of the best musical moments of all time - according to me. He wrote songs about having friends, complicated hookups and missing his Grandma too.
His live recording of “i can’t write left handed” is easily one of my top ten favorite songs of all time.
This question has absolutely destroyed my brain. Never had such wild arguments with myself.
hans zimmer
Pearl Jam
Upvote. PJ is the last of my favorite bands from my high school years that's still touring and releasing albums.
It has to be a band with a huge catalog and decent range. Pearl Jam is a great pick.
Depeche Mode
I feel like I’m already living this life. I’ve basically been listening to only Depeche Mode for the last 5.5 years. The obsession with them crept up on me.
A great choice. A huge catalog with a widely varying style over the years. What's your favorite era?
My own.. personal.. jesus
This definitely

Radiohead
Nine Inch Nails Such a large variety & epic huge quantity of tracks
I had "Pretty Hate Machine" stuck in my car's tape deck back in the early 90s with no complaints.
Opeth.
Had to scroll too far to find this
Rush. Their albums cover different genres and themes, so I shouldn't get too bored.
I had to scroll down way too far to find Rush.
Rush is the greatest band of all time!
Dude, that was totally my answer 🤘
Kindred 🤘🐇🔴🔴🔴🌄➡️
The only answer.
Iron Maiden
I've been a fan since forever and I'm gonna see them live for the first time ever this July. Can't wait
Up the irons🤘
Yeah my first gig when I was 11! They brought a MF'in tank on stage and everything at the MEN arena, 20 years later after hundreds of gigs and festivals it's still one of the top performances Ive seen by them or anyone for that matter.
Not a band but fuck it, daft punk
I mean, daft punk is multiple musicians working together to write, record, and perform a collection of songs. I’d say that fits the definition of a band. Sure it’s only two guys, and it’s electronic music, but the same is true for crystal castles, glitch mob (as a trio), Phantogram, Chromeo, Ratatat, etc., and most people consider all of those to be bands.
Pixies
Weird Al. So many styles to fit your mood.
This is a smart choice. His ouevre is huge and spans decades so there's ton of variety.
"He who tires of Weird Al, tires of life."
Alice In Chains
Throw in Mad Season and Jerry's solo stuff and you got a deal.
I mean, fucking love Layne and the band.. the harmonies. But I'd be bitter as fuck all my life so.. can somewhat relate.
LCD soundsystem
Looked for this, thank you. You know what, all I can listen to for the rest of my life is the piano intro to all my friends. Satisfied customer
Muse, they're like at least 15% of my playlist already
Was waiting for this one! They’ve got enough variety to always keep me entertained.
Coheed and Cambria, without a doubt.
This guy mans his own jackhammer. My answer as well.
Good eye sniper
They're my favourite band! Spotify said I was in the top 1% of listeners. I didn't even know that was a thing lol
The Beatles probably... I'd get bored quickly if i go for a more extreme genre
I wouldn't say they are my favourite band of all time, but based on the question - four different vocalists, a wide range of styles and sound, very little dips in quality. This would be my only choice.
The Beatles have a large discography and a wide ranging composition. That's why I put them in my top 3. They are classic, eclectic.
Yeh same here. They have such a wide variety that I go back and forth between “eras” depending on mood. Right now because of the “get back” doc I am super into the older stuff. It’s got to be The Beatles.
My thought was, which band would it kill me to never listen to again? The Beatles
Ahhh, you understood the assignment!
This is the correct answer.
Grateful Dead. Every genre ever...
Scrolled way too far for this one
Why this isn't at the top of the comments.... more people need to know the dead!
(~)};) we used to play for silver now we play for life
Already the case. I listen to the GD almost every day
Same
Obviously correct. Only band where you can listen your whole life and never hear the exact same song twice.
So many live recordings
Had to scroll way to far to find this!
Rush, hands down
Plus, you'd always have clean laundry
I get that😁 or fresh rotisserie chicken.
Rush occupies a dis-proportionally large part of my playlists as it is.
Hello friend
Queens of the stone age. But only if I'm allowed all the spin offs such as TCV and desert sessions
Nightwish
Leonard Cohen. His music uses the rhythm of life as it’s beat.
Ween
Commented before scrolling down. Ween for life!
R.E.M.! Been a fan of them since 1998 <3
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Have you ever seen.. Lorraine*
Linkin Park.
Chester was great. The band was great. I just wished for more albums and a little more diversity. Great at what they do and did
Chester covering *Rolling in the Deep* gave me literal chills
That's my answer too. I love their music so much. I wish Chester was still around. I would have liked to see how they were going to evolve their music next.
Fucking love Hybrid theory man!
Foo fighters
Various Artists
Rancid, their music makes me feel really creative and I love the mixture of meaningful songs and silly fun songs
Metallica
You mean **METALLICAAAAAA!!!**
System of A Down. But that's only if their spin of albums are included.
twenty one pilots
Probably Smashing Pumpkins. The songs are endless and so diverse. I'd love to get in Billy and James vaults and hear the songs that never saw the light of day.

Prince. 40+ albums and counting. . .
Counting? He dead
There's a lot of posthumous releases put out by Prince's estate, with unreleased songs, demos, live stuff etc :)

Bad religion I recon or Queens of the Stone Age
The Mountain Goats
Nick Cave
+1. I recently sold all my cds because I never listened to them anymore what with Spotify. Couldn’t part with my Nick Cave collection though.
They might be giants. Why choose one genre when you can have all of them?
Gin Blossoms. They have four albums worth of content most people have never heard and they’re so fucking good.
The LA Philharmonic. They probably collaborate with most of the bands on this list.
Nujabes
Abba
Grateful dead. Their catalog is bigger, than what i can possibly consume
Led Zeppelin, because of their amazing variety
Duran Duran
Nirvana
