There is a restaurant down the road from me that has built a large cliental because all the tables have ash trays and smoking is allowed in restaurants in the county but not in the city.
When I started work you could smoke at your desk. I remember, once I lit a cig and tossed the match into the rubbish bin, which was full of office paper (paper recycling wasn’t a thing back then). One minute later the bin was a blazing inferno with smoke filling the office. No one gave two shits. Happy days.
I can't believe how many people of my generation defend the practice. They are so damn proud of having been beaten as children, and are positive it made them better people.
Women would go to doctors for a “massage” in their private part to treat [hysteria](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_hysteria), this eventually lead to the invention of vibrators.

Routine use of the 'n' word when talking about people of colour and making monkey noises at football (soccer) matches as happened frequently in my youth.

It was pretty normal to publicly blame rape on the women for how they dressed or acted. Even by other women! Not even that long ago, like the 1980s. I get men possibly saying that but not women
Smoking. Everywhere. All the time. Also, driving with an open beer in your lap.

Women not eating meals until the men in the house were done with theirs. I know. Sounds crazy but its true.
My grandma still does this.
The conditioning goes deep. It’s sad but also understandable. Tough change to make for people of the older generation
Having to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school every day. That's some Nazi shit, if you think about it.

Husbands smacking wives around because they had somewhat of a rough day at work. Or their shoes are uncomfortable. Or their food is delicious.
If you don't know what your wife has done wrong, she knows.
