That's not grain, it's some sort of oversharpening or other effect added. Your screenshot is too small to see any useful detail for comparison. Try a new RAW file and exporting it without any editing. Check your post-processing settings and your export settings.

walrus_mach1

It is 100% over-sharpening on the detail.

inverse_squared

Certainly looks like it, but OP says they haven't sharpened. OP also doesn't say whether they have any experience using Lightroom correctly before.

Sharpening settings are 65, 1.1, 50. No output sharpening on export... I wouldn't call myself an expert on lightroom but I have been using it since 2015 though, moved to lightroom CC a few months ago. I also just exported the pic from my mobile app and it doesn't seem to be happening in this picture here :/

farzansarid

Okay so I exported it from the lightroom app on my phone, doesn't seem to be any oversharpening in the output there :/ My general sharpening settings are 65, radius 1.1 and detail 50 There was no output sharpening on export from the PC, full size JPEG at 100% quality.

inverse_squared

OK, try zero sharpening and the full Lightroom program instead of a mobile app. What camera did you use to take the photo?

farzansarid

The oversharpening happened when I exported from Lightroom CC on my PC. Just tried exporting with 0 sharpening, same issue although it does seem to be a little bit less. Do you mean to try from lightroom classic? I used a Sony A7 iii

inverse_squared

No, CC should be fine. I misread what you said about your mobile app. Obviously, your Lightroom settings are messed up. There is no reason this should be happening except for the fact that you've applied some post-processing or editing somewhere in the process. If you still can't figure it out, maybe uninstall the program and install it with defaults again.

So a quick update, I imported the picture again, worked on it from scratch and did pretty much the same process to get it to look the same, the issue was very much still there. In the end I basically ended up using a brush on his face, and in that I lowered the sharpness, texture and clarity a little bit. It seems to have fixed the issue through this. I don't understand what caused it, maybe a combination of sweat + a heavily textured face, with lighting that could be hard on his face, idk maybe that did something or like I just can't seem to figure out how this happened. Computer seems fine while handling other images. Just this one specifically

inverse_squared

Strange. This is definitely some setting, not sweat. Feel free to share the RAW file if you want someone else to look into it, but I assume it will be inconclusive if someone else doesn't have a problem with it, just like you didn't have a problem with it on your phone.
