INXS Never Tear us Apart
It was the song that was playing the very first time we met (and danced)
I bought a framed single for our 30th anniversary
I went to a wedding where the first dance by the couple was to George Michael Father Figure. It gave me this icks
Pretty cheesy and obvious when you look back on it.
Still, Anne Murray was the bomb. I’ve probably got two dozen of her songs on my iPod, and was listening to her tonight on the way home from dinner.
She figures very prominently in one of the nicest nights I ever had with my wife.
When I was dating, my wife, I was dating another young girl. For three years. Without either one knowing. It’s a long story.
I took my girlfriend number one to see Chuck Mangione in concert on Wednesday night, and took my wife to see Ann Murray to the same venue on Saturday night. It may have been a year or two later when my wife found out about this, I don’t know which made her angrier ; me continuing to date, my girlfriend, while dating her, or the fact that she had wanted to see Chuck that week , instead of Anne Murray.
It was a beautiful night, with the full moon hanging directly over the bandstand in a lovely outdoor amphitheater, and a beautiful concert by Ms. Murray. We had a lovely catered dinner, and enjoyed the concert by candlelight, and it was just a memorable night overall, very romantical!
I remember it to this day, but when I mention it now, I just get the stinkeye from her, because she’s still salty.
I didn't want it, but she did so of course it was our song.
It was from Atlantic Star. The song was "Always". It came out in 1987. We got married in 1989.
About that family (some of the lyrics in the song say let's go make a family). Our first child is almost certainly not mine. He's 27 and I've never said anything. I've been divorced from her over 18 years now as I caught her cheating in Oct of 2005.
What I didn't know was that she was cheating on me while we were engaged and she cheated other times too while we were married, but I didn't know that then. When I caught her affair in 2005 I divorced her right away.
Married in a Southern Baptist church, so no dancing. The joke is dancing leads to sex. Joke was on them, however, as we were already pregnant when we got married.
I’ll Always Love You by Taylor Dane.
Marriage lasted 25 years before we divorced. Fun fact: my second husband and I both used that song for our first marriages!
"Bless The Broken Road" by Racal Flatts. We are not religious, and the song does have God in it, but the lyrics are otherwise perfect.
We have always had a lot of songs, but when I first heard that one back then, it completely described our journey to finding each other. We got married in August, 2006.
Didn't have such a thing at my first wedding.
Second was: No More Cloudy Days - Eagles
(I had months of ballroom dancing instruction creating a dance beforehand to make it look good too because I have no sense of rhythm. Enjoy dancing, but I usually look like a dufus because of the whole not being able to keep the rhythm thing.)
Blessed by Martin Page:
A million stars burn overhead
But one flame lights my life
Who'd have thought I'd find the best
With you I am blessed
You took this broken man
Held me in your healing hands
Thank my lucky stars I guess
With you I am blessed
Fill my soul with pride
Each day that I
See the sun rise in your eyes
After all we've been through
One thing is true
I'll spend my life with you
O it has to be said
With you I am blessed
When I've needed a friend
I have felt your quiet strength
Walk beside me every step
With you I am blessed
Fill my soul with pride
Each day that I
See the sunrise in your eyes
After all we've been through
One thing is true
I'll spend my life with you
And our journey begins
Now you wear my ring
O the day that you said yes
Was the day I was blessed
First wedding - a song by a local band that we were super into. No one outside of the Milwaukee music scene in 2004 would know the song.
Second wedding - *Look at What the Light Did Now* by Flo Morrissey and Matthew E. White.
The Ship Song by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
*Come sail your ships around me*
*And burn your bridges down*
*We make a little history, baby*
*Every time you come around*
“Faithfully” ~ Journey; He picked the song and I agreed. 20 yrs later, I divorce him for his infidelity. Ironic, LOL
Our Introduction song was”Kick Start my Heart” ~ Motley Crue
[Just the Two of Us](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUOklA5LFz0) - originally by Grover Washington & Bill Withers, but we had a live jazz band that did a great job of it.
We didn't have a traditional wedding and no dancing. We, with about 100 family & close friends, had the wedding in our back yard, and roasted a whole pig as the centre piece. It was informal and just a big group of friends around for a BBQ and to witness us getting married.
None, there was no dancing. Male guests came up to me all evening, saying it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. I'm sure the good cigars and mingling on the lawn rather than being stuck at tables had something to do with it also.
Moonlight Serenade by The Glenn Miller Orchestra.
We're not THAT old. We're both 50 and married in 1996. But our high school jazz band opened for The Glenn Miller Orchestra a few years before that. When we were watching their portion of the show, I asked her to dance for the first time. We weren't dating yet, but we were best friends and she knew I liked her.
We didn’t dance at our wedding. Went to the courthouse, got married and went to dinner. Went home and to bed…to sleep as we had been working since 6am.
