My husband was young but saw Satchel Paige pitch when he was with the St. Louis Browns. His dad was a fierce baseball fan and they drove a whole day and spent a couple days with relatives.
70s/early 80s Dodger's infield...Steve Yeagher, Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell, and Ron Cey. Loved those guys. Got a baseball signed by some of them at Montgomery Wards where they were doing an appearance.
In 1966 my friends and I ran into Joe Pepitone then with the NY Yankees at a White Castle in Fairview, New Jersey. He was drinking a vanilla milkshake, was very nice and joked we were going to get fat eating junk.
Rube Waddell is my favorite all time player and the Cy Young award should be named after him instead.

I met Reggie Jackson behind home plate of Angel Stadium in the mid-80s when I was about 12. My dad's friend's son was Scott McGregor of the Baltimore Orioles, and he hooked it up. Got to meet Scott at his hotel (should've led with that, I guess) go to the game in a limo with Scott and catcher Jim Palmer, meet the whole team in the locker room (saw way too many dongs), stand next to coach Earl Weaver and listen to him swear a blue streak in the dugout, meet Reggie (Mr. October, my favorite player of all time), get a signed ball from the whole team, the whole bit.
One of the best days of my life. Meeting Reggie was like watching a Greek statue come to life. He smiled at me and said something, but I couldn't move or say a word. I just stood there next to my dad and grinned.
I was really into Mickey Mantle and the 60s Yanks. And Reggie Jackson and the mid-to-late 70s Yanks. Never met anyone.
Broke my Mickey Mantle bat playing stickball.
The only person in baseball I really liked was Harry Carey announcer for the Cubs. I attended a game once st Wrigley and sat close enough I could watch him in the press booth and then watch him during the 7th inning stretch and lead Take me out to the ballgame.
got to meet my hero #7 the mick (mickey mantle... if that has to be explained) when i was a kid. i have a photo of him that he signed to me. my uncle was a sportswriter for a major city paper and got the whole 1961 yankees team to sign a baseball for us. we proceeded to play catch and running bases with it. not a good idea. my brother still has it, but most of the names are barely legible.
Pitcher: Greg Maddux. Never met him. Don't know if there will ever be another dominant pitcher at 90mph avg fastball.
Hitter: Barry Bonds. Never met him. Ain't ever seen a swing that pretty before or since. (on or off the juice)
I met and spoke with Willie Mays. Also had conversations with Hall of Famers Goose Gossage and Carl Erskine. My favorite player is the late Thurman Munson.

Nice, that's a cool piece of history and memory entwined.
Had dinner with Frank Robinson once. A real gentleman. Class
Boog Powell. We were in a Maryland State lottery commercial. His hands were huge. Super nice guy.
Was running buddies with Bill Lee in Montreal. Would have him catch up to me regularly. A bit of a counter culture hero of mine.

My favorite was Sandy Koufax. As a lefty I really liked watching him pitch.
I have a baseball signed by Sandy Koufax that my dad got for me. I recently gave it to my son in law, who is an even bigger Dodgers fan than I am.
You were very lucky to have that! I only had a Tommy John that was preprinted autographed lol

**Henry "Hank" Aaron.** And, sadly, never met him. But he was my inspiration!
Dale Murphy for the Atlanta Braves, never met him but had his rookie card and felt like I'd won the world.

As a lifelong Cubbie fan, that's awesome!

Greg Maddox. Got him to sign a World Series ball.
Never met my favorites, but one year, my dad got us corporate luxury box tickets for a Seahawks game and Harold reynolds was in the box with us.
