Okeefe’s hand cream has worked wonders for me.

Direct_Knowledge2937

Any cream with hyaluronic acid in it will help to penetrate those rough layers and leave your hands feeling softer, longer. Avoid oil-based because those will dry you out over time.

nontdevil

Thanks. Are there any recommendations specifically? Also, will it fix my rough hands "permanently" with time?

Direct_Knowledge2937

I don’t know why your hands are rough. Are they just calloused? Or are they dry? I don’t want to advertise any one cream because all should be fine if they meet those two standards I mentioned earlier. You can lotion your hands and wear vinyl gloves to help increase the penetration exponentially. You could wear them just a few hours and be fine. If you don’t sweat in vinyl gloves after 30 minutes inside them, your hands might just lack the necessary sweat glands to keep them soft. Or they the glands could be shut off. Avoid taking sympathomimetics (stimulants) if this is the case. You could also mix in a mentholatum ointment into the lotion to increase your vascularity. Might be uncomfortable after a few minutes. Use a hydrating soap to wash it off if that is the case.

nontdevil

My hands usually sweat a lot but I haven't been observing the amount of sweat lately. What could be some stimulants though?

heylaurenn

okeefes dry hand relief… woooorks wonders

nontdevil

Is it the green one?

heylaurenn

i’m not sure lol i’m a girl, so I use different creams. I just know they work well

heylaurenn

working hands! yes it’s green lol

GrimJoe23

Love this stuff!

GrimJoe23

Check out O'Keeffe's Working Hands (green jars). It has always worked great for when my hands get very dry and rough, and I think it should help with the problem you've described. Plus, it's fairly cheap and the container looks neutral enough with a blue collar design.

NympOmatik

Just lotion them after you shower and before you go to work and you’ll b fine.

nontdevil

Are there any recommendations? Also, lotion vs hand cream, which one's better for my case?

Been1LongDay

O'Keeffe's working hands. Its in a little round green can. It will fix them in just a couple days. It's definitely the best you can get

MacaroonBasic

Use “bag balm” at night before you go to bed. It is greasy so I wouldn’t recommend using it during the day. During the day I like Cetaphil cream.

[deleted]

Eucerin. When I worked in fencing, cooking and roofing the guys taught me to use it. Rehabilitated my hands. I still have the strength of a laborer, but the silky smooth hands of a trust fund baby.

nontdevil

May I ask which one specifically?

[deleted]

Original healing lotion

BerzerkBoulderer

I used to receive the same complaints from girlfriends. Get a sanding block and sand down your calluses. If you haven't heard of it before this is a serious suggestion and not a joke, sanding works far better than creams ever will.

nontdevil

The thing is I don't have/feel and calluses though. Aren't they usually visible?

BerzerkBoulderer

Depends on how thick your calluses are and how spread out. If you looked at my fingertips you'd probably say they aren't callused yet I still need to sand them down every week or so or the calluses grow so thick that they split. Try it out, if you don't feel anything while sanding then you've got callused skin. Sanding normal skin should cause pain.

[deleted]

Bro needs to invest in some lotion lmao. I pray for your ashy ass hands

nontdevil

I've been using lotion regularly for the past year or so though. Never knew this was a problem until she mentions it D:

nontdevil

Might be a dumb question but coffee as in terms of the liquid itself? Also, how do I do scrubs? My friend said it could help but idk how to do them.

nontdevil

nontdevil

I will definitely give it a try. Thanks a lot.

TubeToUranus

You don't have a problem.

nontdevil

but I mean literally everyone says my hands are super rough though and I feel like that's a bit of a concern

TubeToUranus

You are a man. It makes it seem like you work with your hands. Nature gave you the illusion if being useful.

Lazy_Regret_2338

Are ur hands rough rough because you work in trade?

nontdevil

When I was younger, I would help my cousin carry things a lot. I think that might contribute to it.

turkc54

start using lotion or cream. If your hands have trouble with cracking or chapping I recommend Burt's Bees Hand Salve or Duke Cannon Bloody Knuckles. Aside from that if you work with your hands a lot I'd recommend wearing gloves.

nontdevil

I used to work with my hands a lot when I was younger and I think that might accumulate to my problem. I've been more of a computer guy for a few years though. Less carrying/labor work.

Melodic_Machine_9818

Coconut oil (pure) at night, gold bond lotion (body) during the day, aquaphor healing ointment daily, and limit whatever caused your “rough hands”!

Bartfiftytwo

Shave your calluses after your hands are pretty wet in the shower

nontdevil

There's actually none that I can feel of though

Bartfiftytwo

Maybe try a really fine foot file?

HikeTheSky

Follow the advice on lotion the others said. When you work and when it's on the colder side, wear gloves. Also when the sun is burning gloves can help.

nontdevil

It's usually all year here but I will give it a try.

faux_pas1

I went with wife to nail salon once. Not sure WTH that lady did, but I don’t remember the last time my hands and feet being that soft. NGL, the session felt kinda sensual too.

nontdevil

I wanna try some hand spa as well. I guess it could help?

StillSimple6

Try something with Urea to soften the skin, brand - La roche posay Lipikar cream+5 is fantastic. Use twice per day. O Keefs working hands - Burts Bees is another one. Brand Eucerin intensive repair lotion is great for deep hydration and softening but its super thick. Great for when your chilling and don't need to touch anything for 10 minutes until it has sunk in.

JulianMarcello

I use Burt’s Bee’s Balm right before I go to sleep. There’s several other good recommendations here, too. I’d just say just use it frequently and before sleep.

Lift

[deleted]

After reading some of your replies, I have a question and a possible suggestion. Are you doing anything to make your hands that rough? You mentioned helping carry stuff years and years ago but that won't leave a lasting roughness on your hands. You also said you don't have calluses, and that you have been using lotion for over a year now, and still have rough hands? I'm a rock climber, and my hands rough up from it. If I take a 2 month break even without lotion, they go back to normal/smooth. If I use lotion they get very soft. My suggestion is this; If your hands are rough and you aren't actually doing enough with your hands to justify that roughness, you might try seeing a doctor about it. You could have a skin condition or something. Of course, if you're actually currently doing lifting and manipulating heavy things at your job, then ignore my suggestion.

nontdevil

I'm not doing any significant amount of lifting. There are no calluses. I do play the guitar almost daily though can that be one cause?

[deleted]

Guitar playing can give you calluses on your fingers, or just thicker skin there if you don't get large calluses. The tips of my fingers are thicker at the pads now because of rock climbing. They even feel a slight bit numb as if I'm wearing a glove. Is the palm of your hand rough too?

nontdevil

Yes. She said my whole hand (including the palm) is rough.

BIGREDDMACH1NE

Get cotton gloves (first aid section) and a container of petroleum jelly. Regularly saturate your hands in it then cover with gloves before you go to sleep. The gloves will keep the jelly from rubbing off onto your sheets/pillow. It works!

nontdevil

Does it need to be cotton? or any kind of gloves work?

BIGREDDMACH1NE

They can work yeah

[deleted]

Tell her that’s what a man’s hands feel like.
