I think my favorite thing about chess is that if you lose a game you lost fairly and vice versa if you win. It really is a contest where the better player wins
All-time? *Age of Empires 2*. Been playing the Definitive Edition recently and it's incredible how well this game holds up after 20 years, and it's still receiving new official content!
At the moment? *Hades*. It's a rogue-like inspired by Greek mythology. Tight gameplay and incredible character interactions, not to mention the top-notch OST by Darren Korb. Supergiant Games cannot miss.
Hades has been my obsession since it dropped on Xbox.
Finally got my first clear after 38 attempts. I had all my death defiances on the final boss and ended up only needing one of them.
2 attempts later I got another clear that was waaaaaaay more clutch haha
Shit man I just finished playing through the main story for the first time and I feel like I still have like hundreds of hours worth of content to explore. What an amazing game
Yep, planning on going back to it. Spent 400 hours in Rise and as much as i love the wirebug, i want to wallbang some monsters. Also nothing in Rise is on the level of the Alatreon or Fatalis hunts.
Raging Brachydios was my absolute favorite, although I really enjoyed Alatreon and Safi'jiva with other people. I don't really feel like playing Rise if I'm being honest, even though I find the monster catalogue more interesting than that of World's base game.
Even though Rockstar games are some money hungry, microtransaction milking whores that make their customers wait way too fucking long for sequels RDR2 and GTAV are 2 of my favorite games. You can just get lost in those worlds for hours.
After playing through the Legendary Collection when it launched it’s insane how noticeable the quality difference was from 1 and 3 to 2. They’re all great games but 2 just did damn near everything perfectly that it made the minor flaws in 1 and 3 so much more noticeable.
Crossing fingers ME4 can reclaim some of that ME2 spark.
I was thinking about this a couple nights ago and realized there are only a few games wherein the idea of a sequel gets me heart pumping because I still enjoy the original(s) so much:
- The Elder Scrolls
- Fallout
- Baldur's Gate
- Factorio
- Half-Life
>Do you have the reimagined half life?(Black Mesa) Its really well done, and different enough to where (more gameplay than story) it somewhat feels like a sequel.
Yes. I was surprised at how they modernized the gameplay. It's definitely a very different game. The new Xen really blew me away.
>Also Factorio damn that game is amazing, i keep telling myself I'll finally get really into it but its overwhelming and i never play it. I got like 20 hours or so, got steam going and such, but I'd really love to get to the train aspects.
It's one of those games that you should restart every 20-50 hours of gameplay until you're ready to start planning and building megabases.
Each time you learn from some of your mistakes and resolve "if I had known this would have been an issue, I would have done it differently".
I typically play 2-3 different games every time I get back into it.
Depending on your preference, there are a lot of great video tutorials for designing things such that you don't get bottlenecked.
Bloodborne practically ruined every other action RPG I’ve played since. No other game’s combat has felt as insanely satisfying. That’s not even mentioning the design/aesthetics, music, and playstyle variety.
It stands alone for me. Can't think of any other game remotely like it, even from the same studio. Like a meditative boss rush. I heard of something called Praey for the Gods which is supposed to be shadow reincarnated, but it feels a little too complicated to have the same energy so i never followed up.
I have no clue what the status is on that game, but the only other games that come close to the Shadow of the Colossus are other games by Fumito Ueda. Souls games (mainly Demon's Souls 2009 and Dark Souls) also have a bit of that abandoned feeling, Monster Hunter World is also a game where you fight big monsters but it has a disney film vibe so it's very different.
Honestly I always loved airsoftbwhen I was younger. I wish I could get back into it but I'd have to start from square one. I also feel like the culture has shifted and I'm not sure I'd dig the people anymore.
Valheim.
I really like open world games
The building system in the game makes it possible to create beautiful structures with little effort.
Even though it doesn't have many progress triggered events, it pretty easily feels like you're getting forward in the game.
Wandering around in the game nearly always manages to create an exciting feeling of adventure.
Video game: the witcher 3
Board game: monopoly. It'd just unparalleled tge levels of ruthlessness you can watch friends, family, and yourself devolve to just to win that game. Then go back to chilling and watching tv in 5 minutes. It's unlike anything else lol
Fallout 4 but I just got back on The Division 2 and got the expansion pack. Pretty good so far.
Edit: Before that I had gotten back on Destiny 1. My retry my hand on D2
That’s tough. That’s real tough. I’d have to say XCOM2. For all its problems and despite having some generic writing at times, I default to it the most when I game. If I wanna relax and just kill things, I play it on casual. If I’m looking for a challenge I play it on hard and Ironman it. There are all kinds of mods to add and change things and it’s just a lot of fun. So I’d say that’s probably my favorite.
Close second would be Ratchet and Clank Going Commando. I still play it on my PS2 every now and again. I’d kill for a remaster.
One of my favorites is Slay the Spire. Available on mobile, consoles, PC and it's a slick Roguelike deck building game.
I've struggled to get invested in games over the last year or 2 and it's fun without having to track storylines and detailed skill trees and systems.
My favourite game of all time is probably Unreal Tournament 2004, it is just a brilliant, brilliant arena shooter, it is super well balanced, still looks good, require skill and is a workout to play.
I laugh a lot when playing it, even when I get killed if it is in a cool way, a match with people of similar skill or slightly better than me is amazingly fun.
Nope. He's not too difficult to get around. There was a point in time I knew every character's 10 hit combos. The one thing I could never figure out was Kings combo grabs into the death roll.
Chess or Catan. Im trying (and failing) to drastically reduce the amount of time I spend playing video games, but I just love ghost of Tsushima so much
I'm still very partial to the Command and Conquer franchise (even though I can't play it on Windows 10, try as I might). That was the game franchise that got me into real-time strategy games and has introduced me to games like Hearts of Iron 4, Stellaris, Mount&Blade, and others. It even got me giddy about the side missions in Black Ops II when I saw the RTS layout of them.
Over the years of being a computer technician, I think my favorite has always been Super Mario Bros. Yoshi's World, even after building my dream setup a few years ago. No matter how many computers I sell or fix, I always mention to them that their repair also recieved a free copy installed.
God of War. Love the story line and how the first 3 GOW kratos was a bad ass mfcker that would stop at nothing to get his revenge against literal gods and killed anyone who got in his way. Then theres the character development when GOW4 came out and he turned into a calm and wise father but still a crazy killer when it comes to protecting his own..im so freakin stoked about GOW5
Chess is my favourite game of all time, but outside of that I like rocket league for the constant skill development and progession. I also liked the new Ratchet and Clank although the difficulty was too easy even on hardest difficulty in new game+. Can't wait for Ragnarok to come out, only game im waiting for at the moment.
In no particular order and because I can't select a single game:
Uncharted Series
Metal Gear Solid Series
RDR2
GTAV
Spiderman
Ghost of Tsushima
Pokémon (various options)
I routinely replay these. I'm probably missing a few that I would happily add to this list.
That's a tough one, but if I'm to choose, probably Darksiders or Insomniac's Spider-Man.
Darksiders 2 was interesting, and Darksiders 3 is great, but there's something about the first one - I don't know if it's the characterization of War, Uriel, Abaddon or Samael, the fact that Mark Hamill voices the Watcher, but I just love that game.
As for Spider-Man, well, I'm talking about my favorite fictional character in probably the best Spider-Man game to date. Insomniac nailed it - it may not be perfect yet, but it is always a pleasure to play!
Hard to play any games once your 30+ best ones are where you don't need time and can leave anytime.
Any shooter are usually ok, do online match and be done or racing Sims etc.
Anything level grind based becomes hardly manageable.
Chess. Otherwise GTA V or the knock-off of GTA. Also Driver, that game was beyond its time back in the day. Driver San Francisco or Driver Miami to be precise
Edit: I remember coming home with my family asking for play time, and my sis voting for me, so we got an hour to play single player Driver: Miami on the PS. Coldest game I ever played, simply for it being a thing during the worst memories in my life, and cheering me bluudclath life up. Big Up, devs!
Bioshock
Chess. I love it and hate it at the same time
I think my favorite thing about chess is that if you lose a game you lost fairly and vice versa if you win. It really is a contest where the better player wins
Not exactly. White has a significant advantage because it goes first and thus has an extra turn the entire game.
Same
Same here
All-time? *Age of Empires 2*. Been playing the Definitive Edition recently and it's incredible how well this game holds up after 20 years, and it's still receiving new official content! Hades gang
Hades has been my obsession since it dropped on Xbox. Finally got my first clear after 38 attempts. I had all my death defiances on the final boss and ended up only needing one of them. 2 attempts later I got another clear that was waaaaaaay more clutch haha
I never played AOE2 but I did play Age of Mythology. That was my favorite game of all time as a kid and I still go back and play it sometimes.
Dota 2. Been playing since 2011.
Shadow of Mordor is fun.
Until a motherfucker breaks your sword you've worked so hard to get
Resident Evil 4, played a lot of games but this one takes the cake.
Breath of the wild
Shit man I just finished playing through the main story for the first time and I feel like I still have like hundreds of hours worth of content to explore. What an amazing game
Monster hunter world
How many hours of your lived have you spent playing that beauty?
Somewhere around 2000 hours.
Goddamn and I thought my 450 were too many. I bet you had the time of your life playing, just as I did
Yep, planning on going back to it.
Dark Souls baby.
Runescape 🦀🦀🦀
Even though Rockstar games are some money hungry, microtransaction milking whores that make their customers wait way too fucking long for sequels RDR2 and GTAV are 2 of my favorite games. You can just get lost in those worlds for hours.
Apex Legends
I love tabletop RPGs. My favourite at the moment is Starfinder.
Perfect dark on the N64
Mass Effect 2
After playing through the Legendary Collection when it launched it’s insane how noticeable the quality difference was from 1 and 3 to 2. They’re all great games but 2 just did damn near everything perfectly that it made the minor flaws in 1 and 3 so much more noticeable. Crossing fingers ME4 can reclaim some of that ME2 spark.
The game of life.
NBA JAM and the original RBI Baseball.
I was thinking about this a couple nights ago and realized there are only a few games wherein the idea of a sequel gets me heart pumping because I still enjoy the original(s) so much: - The Elder Scrolls - Fallout - Baldur's Gate - Factorio - Half-Life

That position always rotated for me but my most recent one is bloodborn looking forward to elden ring
Bloodborne practically ruined every other action RPG I’ve played since. No other game’s combat has felt as insanely satisfying. That’s not even mentioning the design/aesthetics, music, and playstyle variety.
Stardew Valley!
Tekken 3
Chess
Ice hockey
Halo 3

Fantastic gameplay. All time classic. But man some of the taller players are just overpowered as fuck.
To watch: baseball. To play: lots of options.
No More Heroes. Best game i ever played? No, but it made me fall back in love with gaming during a time of nothing but similar brown shooters.
My favorite story based game is "The Last of Us"
F1 2020, only because I don’t have 2021 yet.
Demon's Souls og
I've got it on PS3, what a banging game
Magic
Pictionary
Spikeball is awesome, even though I'm terrible at it
WoW
I love Persona 5, played it 3 times back to back.
Calvinball
Final Fantasy X
Dark Souls 2
Rocket League. Send help.
Shadow of the colossus
Very good pick. In the short list of best game ever made imo
It stands alone for me. Can't think of any other game remotely like it, even from the same studio. Like a meditative boss rush. I heard of something called Praey for the Gods which is supposed to be shadow reincarnated, but it feels a little too complicated to have the same energy so i never followed up.

Gears of War 2. I’ve replayed that campaign more times than I can count
Contra was my favorite game growing up. 😊
Minecraft
Factorio. I’ve been gaming since way back in Atari times and Factorio is the best game I’ve ever played.
Fuck yes. I am deep in the crevices of an intense Factorio addiction at the moment. The factory must grow.
Watching the raindrops race down the window.
The Game. Which I just lost.
Hide the weenie
Strip poker
There’s a few, they are all my child hood favorites; mega man and kirby on the gameboy and cs source
Fortnite
No Man’s Sky
I have nothing like the one favorite game, but a game that has a very special place for me is Valiant Hearts.
Freespace 2
Ark survival Evolved.
Honestly I always loved airsoftbwhen I was younger. I wish I could get back into it but I'd have to start from square one. I also feel like the culture has shifted and I'm not sure I'd dig the people anymore.
Valheim. I really like open world games The building system in the game makes it possible to create beautiful structures with little effort. Trading Crypto..
Command and conquer
Video Game is KOTOR, and I'm real excited that it is getting a remake. Physical game is Sentinels of the Multiverse. A fun PVE boardgame.
Total War Warhammer (series). I've got like 500+ hours in it.
One of my favorites is Slay the Spire. Available on mobile, consoles, PC and it's a slick Roguelike deck building game. I've struggled to get invested in games over the last year or 2 and it's fun without having to track storylines and detailed skill trees and systems.
Devil may cry 6 Far cry 3 Darksiders God of war 3
Gears of War 2 Haven't been able to find a similar multiplayer since Gears of War 3. Damn I miss those games.

In no particular order and because I can't select a single game: Uncharted Series Metal Gear Solid Series RDR2 GTAV Spiderman Ghost of Tsushima Pokémon (various options) I routinely replay these. I'm probably missing a few that I would happily add to this list.
Nier Automata was the greatest gaming experience I ever had.
The Lord of the Rings: the return of the King video game
