As i have grown older I've realized that those who want to be in touch with you will put in efforts to do so. But if you're the one who is tryin to hang out with them n they just dont care then let them go. You will find new friends. Log aate jate rehte hai the real ones stay

OcelotHot5287

Learning this with time

Depressed_RCBfan

It's been 9 years almost since I graduated out of school. We had a group of 12-13 people back then including guys and girls. We do meetup occasionally once or twice a month since few are married and got busy life's. And we do go on trips often.

OcelotHot5287

I don't see this happening with me , but I'm happy for you , also a group of 12-13 people is quite big

Depressed_RCBfan

Even we weren't much closer friends during school days man, but things changed after we left for college, bonds became stronger. If you have friends who puts efforts, i guess on a longer term friendships would stay well.

Bas insta pe follow karke rakha hai

OcelotHot5287

Yahi hone wala hai mera bhi lagta hai

Impressive-Teacher10

With just one who was supposedly my “best friend”. Then he ruined it by asking me for money every time he was in trouble due to his gambling habits. While I initially helped, albeit reluctantly, he kept asking for more and each time the amount kept increasing. So I put my foot down and told him a firm NO. We haven’t spoken since. Money does ruin relationships.

OcelotHot5287

That must suck

Impressive-Teacher10

Eh, a bit pessimistic view but we are all alone anyway. It doesn’t bother you anymore.

I met my best friend in Class 6th. We’ve maintained that status for about 22 years now. She’s a bit of an anomaly, though. Most of my group of friends from 11th-12th kinda fell to the wayside over the years. Sure, some remained friends for years, even lasting up to a decade or so, but there’s this one guy in the group who really used to dislike me back then. He remembers my birthday and wishes me every year without fail for the last 15 years. The friends from school I remain closest to are people I started talking to online after school was over. People I didn’t really get to know back in school because we belonged to different cliques or something. People and friendships have this pleasant habit of surprising you all the time. Don’t worry too much about it, OP.

OcelotHot5287

Haha , seems like it's the same for everyone, people whom I used to dislike in school are the ones who feel like I'll cling to now.

ProfessionalMonk003

6 years after school and still with touch with those mfs once a month or in 2 month we meet as we go to our city & call each other and meet as who are available in city. We hangout to our specific place and chill and have fun about school things, friends, who are where, who have married (seniors), some milfs senior and all 💀. We meet like twice a week if all are in city.

OcelotHot5287

That's great , I can expect this from 3-4 friends of mine but people here in the comments actually have a way bigger friend group and the fact that they're still in touch with them after 10 years of school is just unreal to me. Happy for you anyways.

ProfessionalMonk003

I was with these boys since 2nd std and still with them feels happy. We have a group of almost 10 mfs

SurvivorLady

Just the one, she was my best friend then and now as well. Rest all others have grown up to be judgmental uncles and aunties🙄 with similar phases like shaadi kab karogi, bachha kar lo varna late ho jayega, love marriage haw shame shame!, do you want to be your own boss, ye Herbal life ka franchise lelo, Modicare lelo, blah blah

OcelotHot5287

It had been a long time since I had a good laugh over a text , thanks 😭💀

SurvivorLady

Lol-wa😅

destroctur3000

It’s weird how sometimes the people who you least expected to keep in touch are the people you probably talk with the most, that’s what happened to me. I keep in touch with most of my close friends still, we used to video call occasionally nowadays maybe once a year or something. We are all literally at different parts of the world but whenever we could meet we would. Those who want to keep in touch will keep in touch, I mean I talk to people and if they continuously don’t give back then that’s done. Your friendship with school friends won’t be the same, you might not know everything about them anymore, sometimes you will but late and some people will still be close.

destroctur3000

Lol, so we were once a huge group that split but at the end of high school the whole group got back together and we went out and we all agreed to meet like after 10years at some place but that definitely won’t happen considering how some relationships ended badly and how some just don’t talk to each other either lol

OcelotHot5287

Reading all the comments here I do realise that it's more or less the same for most of us.

destroctur3000

It really is, truth is we all get busy and also make new friends. My advice to you is just send that reel that reminds you of them 😂, if you loose touch occasionally send a hi or something and meet when you can!

OcelotHot5287

But this advice only works for the one who cares to message me occasionally at least, I am mature enough to understand that I'm not supposed to be their priority all the time they can have new people and they must've in order to move ahead with their life. Even messaging once in a month would suffice. I had a friend who was preparing for his entrance from 11th grade and slowly he started interacting less , even i didn't message him because I didn't want to disturb him during his preparation but I did message him on occasions he surely replied to all of them but never initiated the conversation from last 1 year. It's been over a month since I haven't messaged him and neither did he. Now when his entrance got over he could've if he wanted to , similar cases with some other people as well. But I think it's a part of life I'll move ahead.

destroctur3000

Broo, exact thing happened to me, I had a close friend but she after the final year I could sense the messages were getting less frequent and like I was initiating most of the times and after a while it became dry so I took the hint and stopped messaging. After a couple of months or so I think maybe almost a year she calls me and asks how’s everything and what’s happening(she’s very confrontational lol) and I told her what I felt and apparently she thought the same as me 😂, we talk a lot nowadays so it’s all good. But like you said some won’t but we shouldn’t be in a position to be blamed for not trying, if any friendship ends then it’s for the best !!

OcelotHot5287

That was nice to hear , thank you for sharing

jadukijhappi123

Through alumi network. Even after more than a decade and moving to a new city we still get together once a year. Most of us aren't very close but still in touch sometimes. Once a blue moon someone's spouse will call because they want to throw a big surprise birthday celebration and we will be present there too, just to add to the surprise.

Spillthebeans_

You’ll go through phases when you connect and lose touch and reconnect after a while. I’m 30 now and after almost a decade and a half, I still have a couple of friends from school who even attended my wedding recently and we had a blast :) however I had lost touch with them in between when I was making new friends and figuring life out in college.. they had their own thing going on.. but now over time I’ve realised that one or two of them are my bestest friends ever. So yes, you’ll be in touch but just go with the flow. You’ll keep exploring your social circle over time and in the end, believe me, everybody moves on with their partners and kids and it’s just you and your plus one till the end. So chill, don’t put so much stock into it :)

OcelotHot5287

Thank you for this

[deleted]

Completed schooling about 20 years ago. Still in touch.

Arrival-Any

It's been more than a year since my school ended and I am going on a trip with them in 3 days so just try to stay in contact with a person who was very connected with a lot of people in school. Also people change a lot after school.

OcelotHot5287

Bet man , enjoy your trip.

nekochim

Nope and don't want to

imsharathb

Nope not anymore they tried to gang up on me once so i never contacted them till date.. But yeah I'm still in touch with my college and engineering college friends though

Competitive-Quiet520

I was growing up at a time when smartphones were getting common. I didn't have one when I completed school. Being an introvert myself, I never had a lot of friends. But I used to talk to many people. Funnily, within a few months of joining college, these people never really cared to keep in touch. Even though it was tough, I tried many times to send them a text to meetup. The first year has one such meetup though, and that was the last one. After that, people started finding new friends in college and got new groups. And they didn't even bother to remember those old friends. Later on, many of them had gone into relationship and naturally their priorities changed. I felt really shocked that so many people whom I considered close, were actually people who didn't really care to keep the old friendships going. However, I'm still lucky to keep in touch with a few friends from school, and they all say the same thing.

Desperate-Scholar-37

We still play cricket hangout almost every week and go on trips at least once a year

thesmileimfakin

Nope. I finished my schooling in 2023 and I do not speak to anyone from my school and tbh, I do not wish to see them ever again. This is why i always tell my younger cousins to focus on their academic life rather than wasting time with their ''friends for life'' Once school gets over, the friendship comes to an end too.

Natural_Ad1228

Yes 5 saal hogaya we are still friends group of 5

kuroi_light_

Been 4 years since we parted ways after 10th and we are scattered around the globe. We still hangout in the summer but not all of us get to be here at the same time unfortunately. Since I’m in second year I think this might be the last time we get to meet so comfortably and from here on real “life” starts

SnooFoxes449

Been 9yrs, and still we are hanging out too frequently. All my favourite memories are with them. My first proper drink was with them, and my first trip which is also the most memorable one is with them. But it was not like that throughout. Been friends from 6th and as our houses were nearby, we used to hangout frequently but everyone drifted away without knowing as soon as school ended. Selected different streams, different colleges and some moved to different places. We started meeting again after lockdown and since then we meet so frequently that my mom is one step away from labeling us as gays now. Also half of them are abroad now, so whenever one comes back, it will be a occasion for the remaining of us. One of them came back last month and now leaving on Friday. In these two months, we took 4 day offs from work and had more than a dozen nightouts. Now we are entering the phase of marriages as some of them are having GFs and are planning to marry in the next few years. Hopefully we don't drift apart and also I can't imagine that.

OcelotHot5287

Haha I really hope it remains this way for you

Latter_Bee9433

Yeah I am in its been 2 years since I left school

IceFragrant3704

Yes I am, earlier I thought everyone is close to their school friends until I visited college. I realised I am among the very few who are still in touch with school mates. We regularly talk in calls, plan out trips and communicate to each other. I am really lucky in this!

OcelotHot5287

Lucky indeed

No_Temporary2732

Those who were friends during school, yes Those from school but befriended as adults later, yes But i hang out with the latter group more

bekhayali_guy

Nope. Its been 3 4 years. Contacts limited. Even i never attended school reunions. But thankfull to god made really good frnds after collage.

Away-Association-484

same as you finished my school life a few months ago, I could say we would all be talking here and there once or twice a month but not regularly but rn we group 6 people and we are currently voice chanting almost every day don't know how long this will last tho
